What games are you currently playing?

Legend of Mana has Kingdom Hearts musical stylings. Final Fantasy Tactics Advance World Map placement and mission based story progression. There's a race of Gem people similar to Steven Universe, only they die if you take away their "cores".

But you play as a Silent Protagonist. And the stories aren't really compelling. There's like pirate penguins, but one penguin has a wife that's possibly laying an egg. So you chase them to the end of the level. And the wife is like, "there is no egg. I was just thinking of the future. Go be a pirate like you want." Then he leaves. And she says "I can't raise an egg with a pirate." Mission complete.
I don't know where the game is going with all this yet. Or if it's going anywhere at all.
After briefly checking out the game myself I'm confident that it was developed with a great idea for presentation, but couldn't write it all together. I am still completely charmed by the game's presentation, got the soundtrack and everything.

Not sure about the battle system. If it was Seiken Densetsu 3 style game-play with Legend style presentation I think it would have been better received.

Finished Legend of Mana. Really anticlimactic. A few of the story arcs were good but because they were all short stories it felt like a side quest from an MMO. You never really know anything about the characters beyond their points of conflict.

Legend of Mana was one of those games permanently on my to-play list. Why is it such a classic if it feels like a bunch of side quests? There's got to be more to it than the soundtrack and pretty backgrounds.

I picked up Stardew Valley from Steam's fall sale. I had heard lots of good things about it and I needed a change from Dark Souls. I figured Stardew Valley was about as far as one could get from Dark Souls. It's cute. Charming. And there's surprising depth to it, lots to do. Right now I have my bronze axe so I'm able to collect hardwood. I have my bronze pick, so I guess that lets me break big boulders in the cave, but not the big boulders on the farm. I haven't done much fishing and I haven't gone into the sewers. I think right now my goal is to build a revenue stream that doesn't involve manual watering of crops every morning. So I'm going to need more metal bars to make sprinklers and more money to plant fruit trees.

Still playing Alien Isolation in VR.
There's a part where you get to explore the derelict spacecraft! It is amazing! The doorways look like vaginas.
Definitely the best VR game in my opinion. A lot of bugs though as it was never officially supported and it's only been brought back thanks to a fan modification.

Fucking amazing game in general. I'm worried it sucks without VR as I've only played it in VR - but damn I want to recommend it to everyone.

Any fan of the original Alien should play this game.

I've not played Alien Isolation yet, although I do think it'd be cool to play in VR... just need to actually get a VR headset at some point, and there's like a 99.2% chance of that not happening anytime soon. I'd also like to play Resident Evil 7 in VR too... another game I've not played yet.

Fuck I need to play more games. I mean, I own a lot of games, and I mean a LOT of games, but making time to play through them is near impossible... it took me the whole of November to finally play through Final Fantasy XV, which I actually enjoyed a lot more than I thought I would, and I'm still playing it a bit in my spare time since the platinum trophy is within reach, it's way too easy compared to, well, every other game in the franchise. At least it didn't take as long to finish as The Witcher 3 though, THREE FUCKING MONTHS. And that's just the standard game, I have the GOTY Edition that comes with the two expansions, fuck touching them anytime soon, way too much of a time sink!

Got myself Doom for Christmas. It's pretty fun but I think the characters movement is too quick it's a little jarring but I guess it makes sense to have a fast movement speed since it's like bullet hell.
Also started playing Battlerite with a friend tonight. It's pretty fun.

A bunch of games on my Steam Wishlist were on sale.
Fairy Fencer F, and Tales of Symphonia, and Tales of Zestiria. All for about $20, nice.
I got Breath of Death VII & Cthulhu Saves the World for like 90 cents. That wasn't on my list, but I figure I'd check it out since it's so cheap.

I dunno when I'm going to play them.
It doesn't feel like I played a lot of games this year. But I played through a lot of my backlog during the first part of the year. And then replayed a few favorites at different points of the year.

For the last three weeks or so I've been playing Xenoblade Chronicles whenever I've had time spare, I bought it digitally on the Wii U ages ago, but gave up after about five or six hours because the game starts off so fucking slow and it was a little overwhelming with all the shit it threw at you too... but now that I've come back to it after however many years, I'm really enjoying it. The only reason I started playing it again is because Xenoblade Chronicles 2 looks really good but I told myself I won't buy it until I've finished the first game. It's sort of what I've been telling myself with a lot of games, that I won't buy them until I finish more of my backlog, since over the Black Friday weekend I bought over a dozen games for my PS4 and Switch despite already having a huge backlog as it is. The plus side of buying and playing games later is that they're cheaper (Unless they're Nintendo games, those fuckers never drop in price), but the downside is that I'm more likely to come across unwanted spoilers, and I DESPISE spoilers in any medium.

Played "VRChat" last night until about 3:50am. I was surprised at how "good" it was in general, you don't need the best VR setup (or any VR setup, from what I gather) to join in. The customisation is exactly what I would have wanted from any VR system, you can open up Unity and make your own content.

Spent about 2 hours working on converting a Miku Miku Dance model for my own avatar, worked out quite nicely too.

I recently played through Pokemon Crystal and Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 2.

I got a little thrill after completing Crystal because I had only borrowed it from a friend way back in Jr. High when I first got my GBA. So I got a nice sense of closure from that.

FFTA2, I tried playing it 3 years ago. But I wasn't really into it then. I kept dying and breaking laws, going to jail. I think the game is actually easier if you do that? Not sure. Like you get better recruitment and items sooner. It felt like a completely different game the second time playing it.
Apparently the first time I played it I had made it through 80% of the game in 8hrs. But I went through it so fast, ignoring all the optional side quests, I assumed I was only halfway through the game. This time it took me 20 hours to get to the same point.
Storywise, it's not as charming as the first FFTA game. There's more side-stories involving npcs. But the main storyline is a flop.
And it's weird, normally when I play a game all day, I'll go to sleep and the music will still be in my head and I'll dream about it. But for some reason this game didn't leave an impression on me at all. I woke up the next day and it took me a while to remember what I had done the previous day.

Chronicles, I bought the Wii game digitally on Wii U since the price for a physical copy is ridiculous and it was only £16 on the eStore, lol. I'm still playing the game actually... very slowly that is. I was hoping to have it finished by the end of the month, but I've been so burned out by all the extra hours I'm doing at work that when I get home I'm too tired to bother playing anything, maybe a few rounds of Overwatch and I'm done, so I've made very little progress, and now aim to have it finished by the end of February instead, lol. This is gonna' be The Witcher 3 all over again.

Anyone try out lost sphere?

Lost Sphear* GAWD YOU'RE LIKE ALL THESE OTHER PEOPLE, CAN'T EVEN SPELL SUCH AN EASY ENGLISH WORD AS SPHEAR PROPERLY /s

... Dumb word, it's not even real, why not just call it Lost Sphere anyway, lol.

As for if I've tried it; No, but I'm planning on buying it, here's a question for YOU though; Have you played I Am Setsuna?

If you have, it's basically just that what a different story and setting...

Also this is post 17,001 which means I'm stopping around, which I did say anyway considering the fucknugget is gone.

lol yeah I gave them the benefit ignoring a doubt and thought it was sphere. Anyway, I never heard of I Am Setsuna. I heard this SE game isn’t very battle centric and that really, really bums me out and has me thinking about steering clear of the game. Not to mention it’s $50usd

I Am Setsuna is made by the same guys and was released in 2016, it's digital only though. not sure how much it is in the US but on the UK Playstation Store it's £32, but I got it for half price in a sale, definitely worth the price, I'd even have paid full price for it, heck, if it actually got a physical release I'd have bought that too! Also the battle system is great, very reminiscent of Chrono Trigger.

... And it has an amazing soundtrack in my opinion.

I had seen I Am Setsuna at Steam a couple of times, but never clicked on it. I just watched a 3-minute review of it. According to the review it looks beautiful, has a beautiful soundtrack, and consistently sticks with its somber wintery theme, but the towns are all small and generic, and the combat is underwhelming. I've been listening to the soundtrack for the last hour and I concur on the music; it's great. I might have to pick this game up sometime when it's on sale at Steam. All these games eventually drop to $5, so I'll hold out for that.

painfully waiting for monster hunter world to hit pc

i dont think ive ever put money aside specifically for a game that isnt even out yet before

playing the dauntless closed beta while i wait
