Started Persona 5 about four weeks ago, I forgot how long these games are, 45 hours in and I'm just finishing the third palace, sent the calling card but just need to fight the boss.

Still playing Persona 5, this game is taking me forever... just hit 90 hours and not even started the sixth palace yet, although I'll be at it VERY soon (It starts on 10/29, I'm at 10/27), I can see myself easily being at 120+ hours when I finish my playthrough. I should have expected it from the start though since Persona games are generally pretty long, and the average playtime is 100 hours for this. My playtime is longer mainly due to a lot of inactive time, where I've left the game on while I've gone off to do something else, wouldn't surprise me if that's made up like 15-20 hours of my overall time, and that's no joke either. I just need to finish it soon because my backlog is getting bigger and bigger, once I'm done with this I'm gonna' start clearing a bunch of shorter games that I can have done in like a week or two each or something.

On a whim I started a new game of Tales of Xillia. Even though I only played it once and put it down for a year before completing it for some reason. It's a really good game. Probably the best Jrpg in my PS3 collection. And probably the only Tales game with skits that have made me laugh.

I remember drinking dr.pepper 10 the first time I played it. And listening to the menu sounds is somehow bringing back that taste. It's kinda unfair that I associate the game with a feeling of dissatisfaction.

Been playing the Darksouls 3 DLC. We're doing the ringed city (before ashes) but I just have to admit. Darkeater Midir is probably my least favorite boss of the entire series. He's really repetitive, controls the battle far too much, has faaar too big a health pool and every ability is basically a one shot.
If you get under him then you're in for about 3 or 4 loops of him swiping twice and breathing fire, at which time you run to his tail and get a couple hits, then he spins around to hit you with his tail, which is easily dodged, and then you rinse repeat.
So why am I still on him a day later? Well here's the thing. If you mess up once there is little chance of recovery. I use tears of denial which allow me to survive a hit at one health which is useful to recover from this bs, but if I'm caught by any of the fire attacks I am instantly killed. Because he has a flying ability and (what I like to call) spaz out attacks where he just goes mental across the arena, which is actually easy enough to dodge but purely leaves you just chasing him across the map, he gets to control the entire field. You end up spending about 5 - 10 minutes getting underneath him, attacking a couple times, dodging, attacking again, then chasing him cause he moves only to end up being blasted by a beam that covers half the arena, being burnt by his fire that covers the area around him (it goes up to halfway along his tail in all directions) or just plain old smashed to the ground by his claws because you dodged a fraction too early/late.
Now the only reason this battle isn't fun. Literally the only reason. Is because they put his health too high. This fight would have been enjoyable if you dealt substantial damage to him, but because the amount of damage you deal to him (I use lighting washingpole with 45 faith, 25 dex and 30 str) is just insignificant it feels like you aren't making any progress whatsoever throughout the entire battle. There was only one point I was fighting him, where I was in the flow of the fight, that I felt "this is awesome!" and then I continued fighting and that feeling quickly faded. It just feels like they gave up.

But according to the reviews this is "A perfect send off for a perfect game" so what do I know ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

i never killed midir, i tried it like 10 times
then i thought about the amount of time ive wasted and decided i have better things to do
which includes playing the game over again for funsies lol

I'm STILL playing Persona 5, I'm at like 123 hours played or something now, although I've just saved the day before the deadline of the seventh palace... I know there's still more to do after this, so I'm expecting at least another 5-10 hours or something.

I must say though, starting from the sixth palace the story really does pick up (Better late than never, right?) and gets pretty interesting, and there's a nice twist and a couple of "wot" moments... as long as it's taken me, and as much as I wish it would just finish, I've really enjoyed playing it. I was the same with The Witcher 3, after almost three months I just wanted it to end so I could move onto something else, lol.

So I finally finished it yesterday, stayed up until past 7am just to get it out of the way, just shy of 130 hours played in total lol. Very good game with a pretty cool plot twist too... but now I'm gonna' focus on playing shorter games to get my backlog down a bit. Finally started playing Uncharted 4 earlier, about three hours in and really enjoying it, which is to be expected anyway. It's also very pretty and has the best character models and animations I've seen so far.

I played a little bit of Pokemon Black. It feels like an alternate reality where it's the same but subtly different. I haven't gotten very far but I'm kinda weirded-out by how domesticated the pokemon look. Like you're catching stray cats and dogs.

So I finished Uncharted 4 on Wednesday evening, then played and finished Undertale on Thursday (And got the platinum trophy because it's piss easy and dumb as fuck but meh), started Doom shortly after, and finished that tonight... I've finished three games in nine days. #feelsgoodman

Shame I don't have many more short games left in my backlog, my progress is really gonna' slow down, soon I'll just have big RPGs to get through, time sinks that will take me months to finish! Although I'm not expecting any more games to take me 130 hours like Persona 5 did, that game is just super long compared to any other of the games in my backlog.

I reached the point where I stopped playing Nocturne and I see why I put it down. I'm in an Obelisk with a ridiculous encounter rate. It's ridiculous because I'm even using a repel skill to lower encounters but there a battle every turn. Not sure how the encounter rate actually works, but I suspect is has something to do with turning the camera. You can walk in circles or in a straight line keeping the camera still and encounters seem less frequent.
Also, escaping from battle just seem to raise the rate too. I take to steps and I'm right back in the encounter again.

So at the top of this Obelisk is a set of bosses based off the 3 Fates in Greek Mythology. You fight them separate and then together. And then you have to survive a walk back to a save point.

Last night I played this Sliding block minigame to get a special accessory. There's 20 levels and I think it took me 3 hours to beat without using a guide. The last 2 levels were super challenging. The power actually flickered at the end and shut the TV off but luckly my PS2 didn't reset.
It's funny because playing this you become numb to losing progress. You just have to accept that it'll happen because Inevitably you'll get hit with Death spells, or an ambush, or a chain of criticals targeting just the MC and get a game over. But you don't expect outside factors.

At the second to last boss in Nocturne. This game is kicking my ass. I played it all night just fighting the previous boss. Not sure how many retries it took. It's was a long walk between the save point and the boss room. I can even die from an unlucky encounter on route too. And the boss battle can last something like 10-20 minutes. The Boss could, and did, kill me on the first turn multiple times. The RNG of this game is atrocious. I mean the battles are challenging and fun, but the cheap shots and the amount of time it take just to restart is insane. I defeated the boss once and then died on my way back to the save point.
