Finally got back around to playing Mass Effect. Thought about starting a new game, but my old one was 5 hours in, I had already recruited everyone and got control of my ship. I figure it would all come back to me.
So I was stuck on an asteroid mission. I remember why I quit, I kept dying on it. Turns out it was a DLC mission, might might explain the difficulty although it wasn't really the combat- it was just a steep learning curve to avoid instant kill landmines and destroy turrets, plus relearning the controls. And every time I died I'd be back at a starting point and have run to my vehicle, drive a ways, shoot turrets in a certain order, get out and walk a certain path through proximity detectors, then kill some people. THEN it saved.
So once I finally beat it, I was stuck on the ship again trying to figure out where to go next, fumbling with the menus. I checked all the planets but I could visit anything. After an hour I figured out I had to Zoom out of the solar system, and then zoom out AGAIN to see the Milky Way. I'm dumb.
I know the dialogue branches are a lot like Dragon Age. But in Dragon Age, I was actually interested in the NPC's problems and learning more about the game world. But in Mass Effect I'm just - I don't care. I'm not asking questions unless I'm forced to.
