The sketch thread!

Haven't been drawing as I should lately. College starts soon. Not looking good on my behalf. :/

I need inspiration!

pretty cool and all, and your style is recognizable, the coloring and shading are still very much the same as always, which is pretty cool. you should really take the black lines on the lips away; they're a bit distracting.

Duely noted Daxis! I'm still kinda playing around with styles so I'll work on it. :)

EDIT: Something I'm currently working on. I'm playing with colors now. But I don't know It'll take some work.

Hooray for 24 hour double post!

Latest WIP

gunswordwip.jpg

I've got a lot of work to do. I also swear I've used that hair style before so it'll probably change.

Also I have no idea how to make hands less "detailed" because for now her hands look like man hands. And since I don't like referencing stuff when I draw cartoon stuff it makes it even more complicated. :(

in the nsfw wip, her right arm looks very strange- the darker coloring, probably meant to show shadow, is too dark, and appears too fast, and makes it seem as if the hand is disappearing, which would almost work in such a picture except the arm is still too large. Maybe make it a lighter color, just a little bit, would help.
I seem to have a slight problem with the little bit shown of her left shoulder. Maybe it's too bright a color? I don't know, but the perspective doesn't look as perfect as it should be.

For the next picture, I swear that it looks moderately manga-ish, particularly eyes and mouth, which is missing the bit of mouth realism you usually put in.
For that reason, maybe I'd recommend the right "man" hand to be a bit sharper. Check out some anime/manga female hands, cause it feels perfect for what you're trying to do.
The thumb area on that hand is totally off just a tad too. It feels a bit square, not right for the small perspective. It would probably look like that in real life, but for this caricature, maybe something else would work- in real life, there's a fair bit of shadow to make it realistic, but obviously, it's missing that shadow here, and adding too much coloring/shading takes away the caricature cartoon yet serious feel you're going for.
I think right below the cuff on the same hand it starts to feel 2D-ish, until the hand comes.
The area right below the chest, where you see the bend of her back, is a bit sharp, and makes me feel like the upper body should be a bit leaned, but it's obviously not. I'm pretty sure the same thing's happening for the previous work, but it doesn't feel as rigth here.

Other than that, all the work is exceptional as always dude. Amazing job.

Those are very good. Do you paint off of inspiration or use references?

When I do portraits I reference photos [unless drawing from life] but when I do my less realistic stuff I don't use reference. Just because I feel like it forces me to push my creativity to figure out how things look y'know? It can get very frustrating and a lot of things can end up WAY off. But I do use inspiration. I usually just youtube like something random [having to do with art of course] ie, paint tool Sai, things of that nature y'know? I saw this video of the guy who has no arms but did like the Rumble Roses artwork. And that motivated me to try and be better as an artist. :p

Daxis: So more emphasis on the lips in the newer one? I mean you said I put to much into the lips and once again I'm playing around with the styles trying to mix and match. I will probably just go back to my "original" style but I wanted to dabble in the more "anime-ish" side that I vowed to leave behind in the 9th grade. In the NSFW one I've never been good at making the other arm [right I think?] look correct like its holding something if that makes sense? Its always been my weak point and I'm aware that the colors are kinda ugh. I was actually trying to imitate

way of coloring but seeing as CS4 runs like ass on my computer I don't think it's translating to well in SAI.
And I was looking at the my hands this morning [since I'm left handed I can't model my own hand] and the thumb would actually be hidden by a small amount of flesh between the index and the thumb. Don't know the name but you could model the pose if you'd like and you'd see what I mean. I will def check out some manga/anime hands just because if I'm going to dabble in the style I can't stick man hands on them and hope they pass. But then again hands are one of my serious weak points. Along with backgrounds, and foreshortening. :p But the arch in the back is supposed to define "sexy" but I'll adjust as I go. I hadn't noticed that until you had pointed it out.

Ooopps I just realized that you pointed on in the hand it would look like that in real life. Hahaha. Maybe I'll just switch the pose up. And the cuff I don't completely follow. Should I loosen it up?

Also the less definition in the lips is because while I like my lips full [as american comics deems they must be] I saw someone draw their lips with a simple line and I've never understood how it was done until recently. But I don't know I'll mess around with it some more. Still don't know whether you like the lips full or not.

Here are the lines for this without the clothes on top. Maybe you could help me with the back being too sharp? :3

Feel free to modify as you see fit.

While bored I drew these two pictures.

The hands are the worst part for me to draw... ..>.< I heard it's the same for everyone, though.

This one was kind of random - I had no idea what I was doing. It's for a friend (it's her character)

Strawberr: 1st one. Really really good. Your anatomy is almost spot on and it seems you're finding a suitable style somewhat. Although I still think pushing more towards realism would greatly benefit you. BUT its a work in progress style so it'll mature and develop as you nuture it more.

The second one. I'm not a huge fan of. But I admire your bravery for pushing the boundaries and trying something new. Its more of a hit or miss because I could never get a foreshortened thing going. Good effort but either the head angle is wrong or the upper body is off?

The only thing I could say would be to study realism. You've got good grasps on things [excepts hands] but I even have problems with those and your anataomy seems to be almost proportional in a sense so the only thing I can really say is just study realism. It may seem pointless at first but it will in fact help you better in your art work.

Hello there. For now i wouldn't upload any fakes xd I will draw heroes to my Tertera Region in RMXP pokemon game. She's Chloe. 2 Versions. Coloured ver. is incompleted cuz i have no ime for now.

Kira:
chloe's breasts seem too far down.
Her neck/shoulder area seems a bit unnatural. The neck didn't have much of a transition into the shoulder, you see.
The hood isn't done as well as it could be done. Usually, you can see the folds of the hood/beginnings of the hood or whatever from the shoulder part. What you have so far seems insufficient
Other than that, pretty good.

Fire dragon ice wolf:
Left part of the hair is too short, while right part is too much.
There's definite flaws between the mouth and nose proportions
Mostly, it seems as if the angle of the actual head seems unright for the angle of the hair.
But very good with the eyes, though.

@Daxis: Yeah I noticed all of those errors, but probably not going to fix cause I lost the file XD

I agree with the nose/mouth I didn't align them properly, don't know why I didn't fix it when I drew it. The hair/face though seems fine to me and I've asked several others ;x

lol I don't care what angle you say that is man, those hips are WAY too big. The legs, by extension, might be just a TAD long, but maybe it's just my limited viewing of it.

the hair feels a bit unnatural- the clumpiness of it, albeit obviously anime style, does not work as well as it could.

I don't feel that much problems with the eyes, although I see where you're coming from.
