Minecraft: post what's in your mine

Awesome Bro

So I should run around placing as many torches as I can right now, in hopes that when the patch comes, they'll all turn into lanterns, thus saving me time and effort making them myself?

So I spent more than two hours last night exploring the biggest cave system I've ever seen in Minecraft. It started out as a simple search for coal in the overworld. I found a small cave entrance (literally just a hole a couple of blocks wide) and figured it was just a shallow pit or something.

boy was I wrong!!

Maybe I've just found an average system or something but so far I've dug up over 300 coal, nearly 100 iron, 15 gold, 10 diamond, a bunch of obsidian, two dungeons, and I haven't even seen it all yet. :x

I have no idea how I'm going to get out since I lost the entrance ages ago. I'll probably have to dig a hole straight up and out of the ground again. If I get flooded out or buried in sand or something and lose all my stuff I'm NEVER PLAYING AGAIN

I learned a long time ago that whenever you're going underground, carry atleast 1 stack of 64 trunks (4 stacks of 64 wood for the space of one) and 1 stack of samplings at around 16 or so, that way you can save face if you get lost, and wont die....

Saved my butt that way (by total accident) a while back when an underground river just a few blocks below the ground took me down all the way to adminium, through complete darkness, into a room where 6 or 7 waterfalls emptied.... ...it was fun!

I don't really understand the danger of flooding. As soon as I see the water (or even lava) start coming down I quickly switch to my cobblestone (always on hotkey 5) and plug the hole. Stops it immediately. The only danger I have underground is getting to a huge cavern that has so many waterfalls and lava falls that I start getting half the FPS I usually get. Sometimes I just set it to Peaceful and go plug them all up which fixes my FPS problem, but other times I enjoy living on the edge and killing things even though I'm seriously lagging.

Yeah, I just keep dirt or cobble next to my pick so I can switch to it quickly. I've never died in a flood. I've been carried away by water once or twice, but lava is too slow to be dangerous.

I calculated the average size of the tools...

Each block is 1m x 1m right..?
This equals to tools of nearly 3m.. o.O

Not really. The player is like slenderman, he has stretchy arms and can reach farther than he should be able to.

I acctually miscalculated...

Blocks are 1x1
Planks are 1x1
2 planks = 2x1 = 4 sticks (2x0.5 each)
2 sticks + 1 (or more) cobblestone/planks/diamond/etc. = 1 shovel of about 5m long by 0.5m wide..

However this is if it WERE like the real world.
But minecraft isnt (mostly) and thats why its fun ;D

so today i let a friend play minecraft for a bit! he's never played before. big mistake

in retrospect i should have set it to peaceful or something. but i told my friend to find my castle work-in-progress, which happens to be situated on top of a large mountain, and also happens to contain several chests full of iron, redstone, diamond, gold, all that fun stuff. he ran into a creeper while i was gone and some of my chests exploded. all of it is gone. ALL OF IT IS GGGOOOONNNNNEEEEEE :thumb:  :barf: :dead:    :box: :?:

You should store your loot in a more secure location. I kept the loot on my last map on the third floor of my house. And my blocks of iron/gold/diamond were secured behind a metal door. :thumb:

I was just keeping my chests out in the open because my castle's a total wreck atm and spawns can't crawl up the cliff to get there. idk HOW a creeper got up there but it did and destroyed EVERYTHING :boo:

Yeah, I've found that even when a place appears to be totally mob-proof one will still manage to slip in now and again.
