Minecraft: post what's in your mine

they don't "slip" in.. they spawn there. it's really retarded. one time i was in a raised area that i dug upwards to get into, because i was following a large coal vein. i dug out one step behind me so thtat there was no way a mob could have jumped up, yet a zombie still appeared behind me and killed me.

So I'm trying to set up a multiplayer server for my friends and me but I keep getting the "[WARNING] Can't keep up! Did the system time change, or is the server overloaded?" error.
Searched google for a bit but I didin't find a solution so I thought you guys might have some suggestions?

Just login anyway, the server should still be working.

Just finished a lot of construction. My house is complete, and now has a proper roof. The screenshots below include a view of the completed house and attached rail system. You can see a trial water elevator in the background. Next is a view of the two rail systems, one to the mob killing machine half of my mine and the other to the resource-filled yet-to-be-mined half of my mine. The next two screenshots show the water elevator I constructed which takes you up and down between the second half of my mine and the end of the second railway.

your world having both so much sand and dirt together.. that would drive me nuts. i'd be digging out all that dirt and putting sand in place of it so fast. granted, when i play this game i get insane OCD, and i'm building one thing, get an idea and start doing something else, then i realize i want to do something at a later date, so i start clearing out some dirt/stone for the area.. then i forget what i was doing in the first place for a while so i go back underground to do some mining, then remember and go all the way back up and repeat the process.

I usually have my view mode on Short or Tiny, so I don't really get to admire (and criticize) my surroundings too often. Oh the price of not fronting another $100 for a nice custom laptop with an upgraded graphics card. I'll probably never replace my dirt with sand because if there's anything I dig, it's sand, because my designs usually include gratuitous amounts of glass because I'm absolutely in love with what my Painterly pack does with it. My spawn point is actually a couple of miles from my home, and I've pretty much dug out entire sand dunes making a path back to it, so you can imagine how much glass I've produced.

haha i never bothered to "design" my water elevators. that's actually kinda cool.
I rigged the idea from this very bland tutorial.

Water elevators are not very efficient.
Really the most efficient form of vertical transport is a hybrid water/ladder design with a splash pool (so you can fall)
W=Water Source L=Ladder S=Stone/dirt other block A= Air

SA
WL
SA
WL <-- lader "occupies" air block next to Water
SA
...
...
WW <-- splash pool

Its a really fast system

You guys probably won't believe me, but I don't care.

Ok, after starting a new world I found a nice cave as it was turning dark. I threw up a door quick and got inside. Next to my house is a cave with some iron and coal, so I decided to wait until morning to get it. During the night I heard a crap load of zombies. And in the morning I went to collect the iron and coal and I then found out. I decided to live NEAR A FUCKING ZOMBIE DUNGEON. I'd say it was about 5 or six blocks from the surface.

also yeah surface dungeons happen from time to time. sometimes they'll be open to sky, or even covered in sand, so you can dig down and find the chest without too much trouble!

also psiclone don't take this the wrong way but Minecraft textures at that high a resolution are incredibly ugly to me. the huge blocks with sharp edges just do not accommodate things like 128x128 grass textures.

well, it's only 64x64 :P i tend to change textures every time the game patches. i had a 128x128 one which was absolutely stunning, then with the recent patch i was doing an RPG themed pack, then i changed to the current one.

i wish i could simply change out texture packs all willy nilly, but anything higher than 16x16 has to do extra steps, plus i want the better lighting/better grass too.. the one thing about those pictures is i'm using the mod "wild grass", and it actively grows grass strands on top of grass blocks. at the time of those pictures, they hadn't grown very much. they've grown quite a bit more since then.. i've pretty much been playing all day.

I dunno, it just seems like the models are entirely wrong for super-detailed textures. world of warcraft can get away with that sort of thing, but only because they're really careful about how they place their polygons.

I think my favourite pack ever was 32x32 tronic, which was bright and simple and stylish. Gerudoku's alright too, as mid-rez textures go, but anything that tries for total realism just doesn't appeal to me.

so, to show how cool (i think) the wild grass mod is, i've left minecraft open for 2 real life days, and this is the result of the wild grass mod:
