Why Wii?

Because the Wii offers something new.
The Xbox and PS gameplay is all the same.
People get the Wii for something not that same as the last generation

I'm not going to read through all of this as I'm an impatient 13 year old.

Any way I think the wii is fantastic, I never cared much for the fps of the xbox becuase fps should stay on the computer. And the graphical masterpieces of the PS3 were, well just graphical masterpieces nothing more.I loved assassins creed but it is coming to the PC aswell as the PS3 and 360.

I've had super mario Galaxy for 3 weeks and still haven't finished it, if you think you could rent a game like that for 3 weeks you have to be kidding me.

I did read through the first page of the topic which kind of left me felling as if I'd go play some more Galaxy or some more Twilight Princess, because they were really excellent games.

And I'll admit there are alot of really sucky wii games (we're looking at you Rayman). But all the games that Nintendo's companys are making are frikking amazing! I personally think that nintendo are making really good choices by making that virtual console system, which makes the wii be able to play like every nintendo game ever...

I know I'm about to get flamed so marcus please don't flame on me cause your replies are always really really long.

~Loofah~

Raving Rabbids is one of the only series' keeping the Wii fresh, don't kid yourself. Also, the XBOX has more than FPS'. Dead Rising, Assasin's Creed, RE5, SH5, and Eternal Sonata are prime examples.

You ever played raving rabbids? If you haven't don't it is really bad. It took a good game (Rayman) and turned it into crappy party games that usually don't differ by anything but graphics.

As you metioned, assasins creed is also coming to pc and is on PS3, RE5 as much as I know is pretty much a fps.Don't know anything about Eternal Sonata, but by the looks of the google search it just looks like another RPG.

Silent Hill is a nice example of what graphics can do to help a game.

I'll take this in order.

1.Yes, I have played Raving Rabbids, and I enjoyed it (And this is from a kid who used to play Rayman 2 non-stop).
2.IGNORE THIS I'M BEING RETARDED.
3.RE5 is NOT a first person shooter by any means. RE5 is a third person action survival game.
4.Eternal Sonata is not just another RPG. It's one of the best next gen RPGs that I've played.
5.Silent Hill has built up it's history, atmosphere, and general feel so much, graphics don't affect the enjoyment I'd get from the game.

But without the graphics the game completely loses it's atmosphere which is the whole basis of the "horror" in the first place.  If Silent Hill was made with 2D graphics or what have you, it wouldn't have the same affect as if it had cutting edge graphics.

Note, I never said it would work with 2D graphics. Bad graphics doesn't mean that it's 8-Bit. But lemme put it this way. Silent Hill 2 looks archaic compared to recent games (Resident Evil 4, Silent Hill 3, Shadow of the Collosus), yet is still able to retain the horrific sense of fear that Silent Hill instills in you. Basically, what I'm saying is that if they were to ever make a SH game for the Wii, there's the possibility that it won't flop. (Of course, that's if Arcade doesn't get ported...)

I just finished Galaxy! but then I found out that there was another 120 stars

And by that I mean that you can play as Luigi with all of the same stars that mario had but with the special abilities and perks of Luigi
^ Note in this spoiler is a really big spoiler.

...And some stars are harder, and I think this had nothing to do with the topic of this thread...lol

But Silent Hill 2 was amazing when it came out in 2001... which is what you people are forgetting.  All of these great games you're mentioning as "being good without having good graphics" were phenomenal during the period they came out.  I remember when Mario 3 came out I was floored because there was nothing like.  For a long time the PC world (especially the Amiga) dominated the videogame market because no console or American computer could touch it.  Chrono Trigger blew everything else away when it came out yet not a single person ever said "lol remember when games had 4 colors and one channel sound chips??"

I think the ps2 generation of gamers are the first ones to actually complain about graphics as a major flaw in game design.  Videogames have always focused on graphics as a way of appealing to new players since the dawn of videogames so nothing has changed over the decades except the hardware it's being run on.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I agree with you. I'm just pointing out that Silent Hill is one of those rare series' that could survive with one graphically impaired title, maybe two.

Draconus, old commodore 64 and atari 800 xl game blew up many minds just because it was a budget game with GREAT graphics, gameplay and music for that time (1988). Good Gameplay + Graphics + Music = Good Game

Ergh. The way you put it, you could make anything sound bad. You're trying to sound like you've got the end-all argument against the Wii, but in matters of opinion there's nothing definite at all. Of course, you're not trying to pass off opinion as fact; I'd have to whack you if you were. I'm still sick and tired of people saying they don't like x because of reason x and passing it off as sincere discussion by adding "why do" as an afterthought, but that lessens the blow a little. Since I don't like getting caught up in matters of opinion, I'd just like to make a couple things clear:

The Wii's capabilities are far better than those of the Gamecube, graphics included. There will always be games that don't make full use of a system's capabilities, and remember: at this stage, companies are still learning what their respective systems can do. The first few games for the DS were awful gameplay-wise, and made the touch screen unnecessarily present in every task from walking across the room to brushing your teeth. Since you've noted that the Wii's graphic capabilities are identical to those of the Gamecube, I've decided that you've played neither; if you would take a cursory glance at Super Smash Bros. Brawl or Super Mario Galaxy, you'd see that the number of polygons has improved along with the texturing and almost everything else.

Also, I could very well say that the XBox 360 and the PS3 were the same thing all over again as well.. They didn't even bother to change controllers; after all, the XBox 360 is Halo and shooters as usual, and the PS3 carries on the proud tradition of carrying every RPG and action game from here to Kandahar.

As I've said, it's all opinion. This is mine.

As for your commentary on Mario's Fun Adventure, I think there might actually be some hope there. Ever since I've heard of a Wii release of Manhunt, I've kept up hope that Nintendo's going to open up to a wider range of games; that is, less Mario Runs the Gamut of Sporting Events Once More and more Bloody Atmospheric Game With a Brilliantly Deep Story. Let's both cross our fingers for that eventuality, ah?

Of course, I don't think I'd enjoy Bioshock quite as much with a point-and-click interface. It'd need to be executed fairly well; Not Red Steel but MP3:C, yano?

All I am wondering is why people are attacking other customers over a system with the same regurgitated games as gamecube just because it has a cool little controller. Big freakin deal.

Umm, you seem to be thinking of the PS3. That was the system that people attacked each other for. Plus, the Wii has far more original games than the PS3.

Lol luminier that was funny cause people got shot and stuff cause it alot people probably dont know what im talking about but lol!

Also dude what? When has graphics mattered in the fun factor maybe if it's 3d or not but when it come to even cube graphics and 360 the gameplay same (if they were same game and just diff graphics) you seriously need to just sit there and play i real wii game like zelda or metroid or even nights: journey of dreams (just got  ;D) you will get hooked if you acutally try it trust me.

But comparing Zelda and let's say a game like Bioshock is simply weird. Zelda got a graphic style quite different from Bioshock, therefore the Wii can be considered as a good console. But if you would like games like Bioshock in the Wii, you couldn't have them, why? Graphical limitations... and not even mentioning the sound effects and music.
No console is better than the other, stop acting like babies. Every single console got something to offer that makes it appealing.
Peace

There are no original RPG's on the PS3 unless you want to count Folklore (which is more of an action game).  At least the 360 has exclusive titles.

Let's go compare again!  Again: the benchmark is an 8.0.  Going through all of them listed...  One.  Zack and Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure, received an 8.5.  Unless you count sequels to pre-existing franchises, then there's quite a few.  Even just sequels to games that started on Nintendo consoles.

May as well run over to the PS3 and check that one out.  5 using the strictest of protocols (no cross-system releases, arcade-type games don't count): Heavenly Sword (8.0), Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (8.0), Warhawk (8.5), DiRT (8.5), and Resistance: Fall of Man (8.6).

Note of course what I'm defining as 'original' here is a new franchise that hasn't been played to death before.  If you instantly classify every game that uses a wand as a controller as new and original, then yes, the Wii is brimming with new and original games, while every other platform is stale and dead because their controllers have existed for a while (including PC: oh Portal, you unoriginal piece of crap).

EDIT: ooh forgot about the attacking part, that was great.  I love people getting shot over a console, almost as good as the recent murder-suicide over a game.  Some kid shot his friend and then went all guilt trip and shot himself, all over a game.  Pity the story didn't say which game, I bet it was Madden, that bastard's been killing for years.

@ Andy

My choice of words was a tad off. Sorry.

What I meant was, that Wii has more good exclusives. I can't really think of any good exclusives for the PS3(ones that I would play, at least.). I can think of quite a few on Wii, though.

I hope that clears up what I meant.

@Luminier
what about mgs 4? I might be wanting to get a Wii, but I still love that franchise, it's probly the only one that makes me want to buy the ps3.

@Andy
Hehe, not the first time someone's killed because of a game, apparently someone took his friend into the bushes near his house and killed him manhunt style.
