Got Final Fantasy IV on the PSP with its sequel - so I am playing that for now. :P

Good girl!

Thanks. :D

I really like the animations of the sprites and abilities. They remind me of the enhanced Tactics Ogre - like they're not all pixelated and stuff. There's nothing wrong with that, but I think it looks pretty cool. ^_^

Awesome Bro

Yeah they definitely look pretty, and I have Tactics Ogre too (Let Us Cling Together, right?), it came with an art book and a "selective" soundtrack, basically a UMD with a few songs on, lol.

Metroid: Other M

At first I didn't like it, but now I think it's pretty good.
isn't that the one where they had Samus talking?

i watched someone playing part of it and every time she spoke it felt SO WRONG.

if they had made that game but changed the title and main character i may have picked it up but a talking Samus is ... It's just WRONG and I don't know why but YOU DON'T DO IT

Yeah, Nintendo tried to walk a fine line with Other M, and from most of what I've seen, instead of walking it, they played jump rope with it. I think the latest Tomb Raider game tried to walk the same line and mostly succeeded with it. (The line I'm referring to is giving a main female lead a personality as a selling point rather than just making her a generic female lead)

i just beat the new Tomb Raider before Bioshock: Infinite, and yeah they did a good job, mostly.

it's pretty much a wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy more gorey/gritty version of Uncharted now though.

like

in one scene, lara jumps into a pool of blood surrounded by dismembered and rotting body parts, then has to swim through it

and that scene was TAME compared to the rest

there were a lot of nasty deaths, like being impaled on a branch, or seeing a rusted spike being shoved up through her jaw out the top of her head, or a giant wolf ripping out her throat ... but the worst one was watching her be crushed from the neck down by a shifting boulder, while she twitched and squirmed

good god

TBH i was still a big fan of the older Tomb Raiders, and towards the middle installments, they worked in nice smatterings of humor & wit. All they needed to do was make the controls less retarded.

The latest installment was fun but WAY too serious. She went from being a Bond/Indiana Jones mashup, to ... Silent Hill escapee.

It's odd and I kind of wish they'd tone down the realism and shock-value. I love horror games but Tomb Raider was never supposed to be more gorey than Silent Hill 2 lol

Yeah, they did kind of change the whole outlook of the series with that game. It was a good game, but god damn, was it gory or was it gory? Partway through, it makes you wonder "How will she die next? What kind of situation can they put her in that would be worse than the last?" And then you think of something, and realize that it's going to be even worse than that.

All I know is, that even if you do a perfect playthrough and never make a mistake, that chick would still have realistically either died or be put in traction or lost something to sepsis, or all 3.

What especially bugged me was that
she was impaled by the rusted rebar through either her liver or her large intestine in the very beginning. if i remember right it went through her left (or right?) side, under the ribcage, and went entirely through. there's no way it didn't either clip, tear, or stab an organ in that location. but even if it magically missed every organ, AND she was up-to-date on tetanus boosters, she would still be a prime candidate for sepsis without proper wound care.

yet, it barely bleeds at all, and she doesn't even tend to it for a second until considerably later in the game, after even wading through pools of what appeared to be rotten human waste. and not by properly cleaning and bandaging, but by cauterizing it. which would not have killed any sub-dermal infections. and she should have gone into quite an intense shock -- I've been burned by red-hot metal before; shock is inevitable!

to make matters worse, in the beginning, she is able to just sleep off the incredibly broken, fractured & pulverized ankle she got from that bear trap.

but even if i am to suspend my disbelief in her ability to sustain any amount of damage to her bones, or even just shrug off bullets for the sake of gameplay -- that rebar puncture really bothered me haha. If she had even just dabbed it with a dirty cloth and made a bandage out of a shirt or something, or even if she'd just happened to bring some antibiotics and chugged them, I'd shut up about it, but she did NOTHING and the medic in me was SCREAMING

for a game so focused on survival instincts, she should probably not lack the most basic knowledge of first aid @_@

To be fair, the game developers probably knew next to nothing about how that kind of stuff really works. Not that that gives them any sort of excuse, I'm just saying that they probably would have had to do research on it if they wanted realism, and they had very obviously decided to adopt a Hollywood blockbuster approach to the game.

if there is a person in the modern world alive who doesn't know you're supposed to clean & dress a wound (not even how to do it PROPERLY but just that you have to do it), they should cease to be alive

I can guarantee that there are plenty. Just like there are people ignorant of pretty much anything you could think of.

Jesus, $4?! Yeah, it's worth more than 10x that, it's such an amazing game, and the graphics... oh my god the graphics!

Definitely one of the best games this gen, yet SO underrated, and it sucks that the sequels are PSP exclusive!

Gotta agree that the ending was pretentious as fuck. The whole idea behind it is interesting, but it's something that can never be made to work.

Okay so you want to stop Comstock from being born, way to go to drown the wrong Booker. Wouldn't you need to drown the younger one, the one who still has to make the choice?

And that's just one of the things that I thought about.

Either way, the game it self was amazing,I honestly think its better than Bioshock 1, it does everything better (even the setting). Only sad part is that they kinda went the wrong way with the ending.

I was kinda expecting him to take the name Andrew Ryan when he got baptized. But yeah, that could never have worked since the timeline would be totally wrong and Ryan was a Russian.

Awesome game, best I've played in a while. I did however liked the final battle though.

Might not have been the Booker vs Songbird battle I was hoping for the entire game. but the Booker and songbird vs "black guys" did feel kinda wow too.

Been playing Persona 2 and 3 FES.
Mostly 2 though, because I left my memory card at my dads and only got it back yesterday.
Love them both, but prefer 3 FES.

you go back to the point where you BECOME the young booker, at the very moment before any of this began. and then he allows himself to be drowned and that eliminates all future possible timelines where comstock could live and elizabeth could be born and suffer and etc. etc.

it is a bit of a paradox that you BECOME the booker in the timeline instead of an additional booker in that timeline (but hey maybe in that timeline, the real booker was going to be killed right after anyway? or something.)

either way you avoid finishing the baptism and he never comes back up as zachary comstock and it's over.

so long as you ignore the weird little "epilogue" after the credits where you're in New York and Elizabeth/Anne is in the crib.

also the last fight felt a little "off" to me as well; was really hoping to fight Songbird. i realize Elizabeth was besties with it but they never really made me feel any sympathy or friendish feelings towards it during the game. so fuck that robot dickhole!
