What games are you currently playing?

RollerCoaster Tycoon 1
I got rct2 but i dont like it as much as the first one~

im making some really cool parks
Just finished Bumbly Beach and I basically made it kick ass with a bunch of intersecting coasters and water rides~

Man, I used to love to play Roller coaster Tycoon, one of the games that you'd never think you'd get addicted too, but is a hell a lot of fun.

Currently, been playing Europa Univeralis 3, and recently finished Amnesia: The Dark Descent, really great game, one of the few horror games that have some intensive atmosphere.

Hey, so guys, I can get a brand new copy of Final Fantasy XII for only £4.99 with free P&P, it's the only mainline Final Fantasy game I haven't played and I've heard tons of mixed reviews, most of them negative...

Should I buy the game and give it a go, or just skip over it? I mean, it's only cheap, but the money could be used on something else maybe... (Like two pizzas, they're buy one get one free, lol)

@Mega, Final Fantasy XIII is my fourth favourite so far, lol, I really enjoyed it so that must mean it's mega good, lol.

@Strawberry, I knew you were going to post, lol... well I'll need more opinions, I mean, I've only got until 8pm tomorrow (Less than 24 hours) and then it runs out since it's from eBay, but it's brand new in the packaging, so I know it hasn't been jizzed on or whatever rumours come from buying off eBay.

Honestly, I thought it was better than 10 and 13
the combat in 13 is the best imo but
there is so much to see and do in the game you can spend around 100 hours and still not finish everything
12s gameplay is better than 10

but it really isnt a story game so if you are looking for some superb piece of writing you might want to look somewhere else as there isnt a lot of character development
but again, I think the gameplay and the locations is what brings you back

also, it starts out super slow
like
its dreadfully slow sometimes
you are going to be in a lot of deserts and mines for a long time
but if you stick with it, it opens up slowly as you continue with the story
and you realize there is a lot to do post game

Hmm, the gameplay is better than Final Fantasy X? Well that just so happens to be my favourite, which would mean high expectations from XII, and if the story isn't too great either then that's going to disappoint me, lol.

How is it for variation in the environments? I've only ever seen what looks like deserts and grey/brown everywhere...

I couldnt stand X because of the battle system which I thought was pretty terrible and monotonous and even broken to some extent
its not that is isnt an okay story but it isnt character driven
so if you are expecting character development you are going to be pretty underwhelmed
its basically plot driven but there are some cool characters and stories and stuff that just never get developed~

jbrist, if you can get it for 10 pounds then do it because it is pretty worth your money because there is a shitload to do and a whole bunch of optional secret bosses and monster hunts

but yeah, the beginning drags on
the first 20 hours drag on
but it gets a lot better
(the beginning is just deserts you will play so many deserts in the beginning it is ridiculous. It will be desert, plain, sewers, mine, desert, town, airship, mine, desert, desert, ruins, airship)

x:
but after that it gets better and the locales become a lot cooler sometimes to the point where you are semi excited to see the next place~
I like it better than 10 and 13 but maybe it was just me

my favorite final fantasies are, in this order:

VI, IX

...

then i guess the rest would be my putting my least favorites in order of which i hate the least to the ones i hate the most:

VII, XII, II, X, VIII

have not played the others

Jason

Awesome Bro

Well like I said, I've played them all except XII, and my order from best to worst is:

X, IX, IV, XIII, I, II, VI, X-2, III, V, VII, VIII

That's obviously not inlcuding XI and XIV, since they're MMO's, I should probably take X-2 out as well, but meh it's a proper sequel to a mainline game and not a spin-off or anything, lol.

Anyways I forgot to order it, but there's more listings anyway they're just a little more expensive, but under the £10 mark which is fine, lol, even if none of them are brand new now, I can live if they're in near-mint condition, lol.

So, I may or may not look like a douche here but...

Why does everyone hate on FFVII again? I mean, sure, it's extremely overrated, but that's not really the game's fault. It's certainly not the best game in the world, but I enjoyed it thoroughly and I even replayed it a couple of times.

It seems like one of those things where it's cool to hate on it because a lot of others love it.

Speaking on Final Fantasy VII:

I found the storyline horrible. If any RPG, regardless of wherever it is made, uses a menu simulation turn based battle system then the story line better be excellent. The materia system was not thought out well, nor was how weapons attributed to said system. Any other type of equipment was not important in any way. The game can be beaten through selecting the attack menu option over and over. Like most JRPGs, it suffers from being more of an interactive novel than a game. The problem here was that the novel portion was not up to standard.

However, I do like how the mini-games were done from the bike chase game to the submarine game. The Golden Saucer was all quality.

While I am on the subject of Final Fantasy: XIII was no better battle system-wise. While it was clever of Square to make battles more cinematic, it is still the same turn based menu simulation system. XII in my opinion was more of a step forward. XIII was a step back in every way. Well, it did solidify in my eyes that Square Enix desperately wants to move towards movie production direction again, but cannot work out all of the kinks.

i thought final fantasy I was fun

carry on

Me too!

But once again, why are we talking about Final Fantasy? That series is such a bane and always gets people fighting. :(

I was playing Tactics Ogre this morning and trying to level my Siren to match the rest of my guys. xD

Fun game! :D

People who hate it most likely will have played a good FF right before they played 7 (like me).
I finished 4 and 6 before I played 7.. I think that explains enough

7's battle and equip option were a downgrade from the super customize options from 6, the characters were lame (except for Aerith, who killed killed) and the story is in my opinion damn boring.. But be happy, it could have been even worse! *cough*FF8*cough*

SE really needs to go back to steampunk/medieval and ditch the fucking gay cyberpunk..

my order from best to worst;
VI -> IV -> V --> IX -> XIII -> III -> X -> I -> XII -> II -> welcome the shitty ones -> VII -> VIII
Only VI and IV (and depending on my mood V) are really good though, others ain't bad but there are better RPG's.

btw I'm playing Vagrant Story, or I'm about to start playing it.

Yeah I'm the same with Aepriz, the reason I found it terrible was because I'd played other games before it, my first Final Fantasy was IV, then IX, then X, and those are my three favourites, lol (As I said earlier...), and by the time I'd played VII and VIII, they just couldn't compare, lol.

I agree that they need to go back to steampunk/medieval, I mean, something like IX again would be absolutely amazing in my opinion, I just loved the world and setting and well, how everything looked, it was definitely the best game in terms of the world, lol.

Aaaaanyways, I'm gonna' pop up into the loft in like 10 minutes and bring down Final Fantasy X, I fancy replaying it... again, lol.

okay today we d/l'd and installed Black Prophecy and

Uhm...

Sorry, but VI was godawfully boring IMO. Unless there's some unique experience from playing it on GBA or PSX, I just think it didn't have the appeal as later games. I thought IV was fun, and that's about it for pre-PSX era FFs.
