The last film you saw

I'm going to go watch Sherlock Holmes tonight. Looking forward to it :toot:

Last film I watched was The Da Vinci Code. It's an alright movie, I think, and the surprises are intriguing (I have a soft spot for mystery/adventure/conspiracy films) but as I'm sure everybody knows, the historical incaccuracies presented as fact are numerous.

Yeah, but historically inaccurate or not, it's just fiction. Does it really matter?

also about sherlock holmes, i've kind of been lamenting it ...

i mean from the trailers it looks like someone went "hey i've heard of sherlock holmes and saw some quick spoofs of it on TV so let's take all the names and then make SUPER ACTION MOVIE YEAH!!!!! with holmsian names and period"

which tbh really turns me off ...

... just tell me
is he addicted to dope

Alas, no.

Not explicitly at any rate: it *is* implied with one reference to his "addictions" - although that could be referring to his souped-up alcoholism. In one scene, Watson berates him for drinking a bottle "intended for eye surgery".

hey i've heard of sherlock holmes and saw some quick spoofs of it on TV

I was worried about that too, but when you actually watch it, there are so many canon references, which are inserted incredibly naturally and fluently, that you can tell that the people who worked on the project were working under a labour of love.

Even the very small details: Watson is always limping!!!! :squee:

I saw Star Trek. Good movie. Imploding planets with a singularity is an awesome weapon. It could be done in real life...

Awesome Bro

Brad Pitt isn't TOO bad of an actor, although I don't see him in a Sherlock Holmes film, he doesn't suit the setting, lol. I mean, his best acting, in my opinion, was in Fight Club (One of my favourite films), and he was pretty good in Inglorious Basterds, but not in something like a Sherlock Holmes film, nah, can't see him...

he's actually a pretty damn good actor IMO.

people love to hate him because he's a prettyboy and he bones angie but if you look at any of the films he's in, he always gives a stellar performance.

think about it. fight club. twelve monkeys. se7en. legends of the fall. thelma & louise. burn after reading.

he has a good range and a lot of charisma onscreen.

...... but moriarty though? eh...... yeah i never would have ever thought of pitt playing moriarty!!!

You can "reinvent" Holmes and Watson, but there is no way you can reinvent Moriarty so much that Brad Pitt can play him.

And frankly, Pitt doesn't have the screen presence. They'd be better off going for someone older - in the Kelsey Grammar/John Lithgow sort of mold or (god forbid!) an English actor like Michael Gambon.

I've been renting movies from redbox like crazy cause there's nothing on tv. The Christmas specials are finally over but my regular shows haven't started the new episodes yet.
I've watched: G force, Pixar's Up; District 9, Paranormal Activity. I'm going to watch Star Trek tomorrow.
I want to rent the latest Harry Potter movie but none of the redboxs have it on their movie lists even though it's shown on the boards. It's not listed at coming soon or sold out, it's just not on there, weird.

Everyone told me Paranormal Activity was super creepy, but I thought it was lame. You always knew when something was about to happen because the ambient noise got louder, like a buzzing. I thought it was weird how they make such a fuss about the door swinging by itself and loud noises, but when the Ouija board moves on it's own and catches fire they don't even bring it up.
Everything at the end it pretty much the same. Only instead of her coming up the stairs and throwing the boyfriend at the camera and getting all freaky. She simply walks into the bedroom holding the knife, walks up to the camera and slits her throat.

Usually when I rent movies I watch them with my family or friends. But the places I use to rent movies from closed down. Redbox is convenient but it's limited on movie titles and you have to return them the next day. Not enough time to get together with someone to watch it with.

I saw 2012 about an hour ago. For some reason it made me cry. All the people dying. Seeing the little girl crying. People falling to their deaths.
Makes me rethink my current life style.

I saw Avatar a couple of days ago and I'm going with a friend to see it in 3-D today. So excited! :D

Last time I saw it I ended up writing an analysis of some of the themes and such if anyone is interested. I'm hoping I'll be able to expand on that a little after seeing the movie again. ^^
