The last film you saw

In the theaters? District 9. It wasnt all that great.

On tv I watched the Nick Cage movie "next". He can see into his own future about 2 minutes. I really like that movie, what a great idea for a superpower. Not so overpowered he is invincible, but enough that he can dodge bullets and shit.

I read both Persepolis and Persepolis 2 (the graphic novels that preceded the movie obviously). They are well worth the read. But its surprising the academy would choose a commercial project that was simply a make a chunk of change on a feel good family experience over a film that actually tries to say something. Ratatouille was cute, well voiced and drawn but its basically a warm and fuzzy lighthearted affair that explores very little. That said i didn't see Persepolis so I don't know how well the novel was adapted, but such a film would clearly have more to say.

OVER THE HEDGE. I didn't take any of it IN because I wasn't paying ATTENTION but I know it to be an ALRIGHT FILM but perhaps trying too much to be the next SHREK.

Awesome Bro

I quite liked Over The Edge, but maybe it's because I'm a sucker for animated films from Dreamworks and Pixar, although I think Pixar makes the better ones... meh.

Yeah I'd seen it before, probably why I wasn't paying ATTENTION. I watch a lot of these films but don't even look to see if it's dreamworks or pixar - they're both the same to me.

just saw Tropic Thunder

man i can never tell if i like ben stiller or if i hate him but this movie was pretty fuckin funny

and i used to dislike robert downey jr. but between this and iron man, he's pretty awesome now imo

I'm seeing Sherlock Holmes tomorrow - that's Downey Jr afaik. He better be good in it. I haven't seen Ironman (other than watching it on a friends PC - who fastforwarded most of the film so we just saw "the best bits" (hi @ explosions)) and haven't seen Tropic Thunder either.

Just watched Holmes and MY GOD IT IS AMAZING.

Honestly, this is a really good film.

Even the fact they're faking British accents doesn't put me off. At one point one of the blokes referred to the house of commons as "me friends" but that was the only slipup I noticed.

Fuuuuck good film.

Avatar.

If you haven't seen this movie yet, you HAVE to. It was fucking INCREDIBLE. You can hardly tell the difference between real people, and the CG Na'vi. It's just amazing.

I went to see this on my birthday - I've been looking forward to it since the first trailers came out months ago.

I have to say I loved everything about it except the plot.

The way they played the Holmes/Watson relationship... The entire theatre was approaching hysterics when they were arguing over the dog (Mrs Hudson's: "He's killed the dog again." Priceless) and, as a Holmesian, I enjoyed all the shout-outs and off-handed references to The Canon - and to some of the fanon (some of Irene Adler's adventures were references to "fan fiction").

Frankly, roll on the sequel: So long as Moriarty is thrown off the Reichenbach Falls, I shall remain a very happy bunny.
