Angels and Demons

I found it better than the DaVinci Code, but the evil-doer (dude in the glasses), was much, much worse (terrible infact) than his counterpart in the code, Silas (who was terrific).

Also it was sort of anticlimatic to discover the whole plan was preformed simply by the chamberlain, c'mon it was suppossed to be the Illuminati, and a war!
use spoiler tags please~

I just saw Funny People last night. Meh. It was a little on the sad side, it had it's funny moments but overall it was more of a drama.

I saw Fantastic Mr. Fox the other day. I thought it was going to be "another generic, lame kid's movie" just before I was about to watch it. However, my opinion did a '180' when I finished it. It is probably one of the best movie's I've seen in ages. I loved the erudite, dry, and witty humor; it made my evening. ^_^
It's not meant for kids though (I believe they would have a very hard time understanding the humor).
I would recommend it for an audience of ages 16 and up.

I just got finished watching The Triplets of Belleville.

It's a beautiful, wonderful, quirky movie. The animation is superb and it's got a really nice feel to it. I love the surrealist feel it has, with it's bizarre characters. It's really their little nuances that make them great, actually.

There are some points where it can get a little...well, disgusting, actually. (there's a scene with three old women eating frogs that is pretty gross, I'm not going to lie) But I adore the retro animation, and while some may argue that it's boring, I really enjoyed watching it.

I just saw this short film: The Old Man and the Sea, based on the Ernest Hemmingway story.

The animation was done on painted glass, and was headed by Alexander Petrov.

Any animation enthusiast would be amazed by this. It's absolutely beautiful. The story too.

Here's a link to a pert of it on youtube, but it must be seen in high quality to really be appreciated.

Oh I saw that in my History of Animation class in college. Very cool shit. Today everything is so standardized, everyone does everything with CG. People love the crap out of Pixar/Dreamworks but the animation and art style is funneling all animated features into an artless, profiteering creative wasteland. Back in the day people would get really and truly creative with their animation methods. It was so much more REAL, so much more inspiring. I mean come on, how innovative is it to animate something with 3D Max versus experimentation with acrylics on glass.

It used to be a true artform to be able to produce an animated feature, with thousands of hours of tireless carefully-metered paintings on various mediums. Now it's just an assembly line, an inspiration to true mass production. Which makes me sad :(

Indeed. (But, I still like Up.)

This is something I have not seen (others can't see it as well 'cause it's not out :P), but from reviews and clips of this movie, Avatar looks quite interesting. At first, I thought the movie was based off of Avatar, the Nickelodeon cartoon series, but after seeing some trailers, it is much different. Although it seems to be based a bit off of Disney's Pocahontas. ^_-
(Sorry to diverge a bit off the topic ^_^;;)
