RPG Breeze (Cancelled)

uhm, who the heck is TiaRenee and how does she know all about what theory and Glitch need?

things that make ya go "hmmmm"...

well, I offered to do the tileset and stuff but I guess Theory didn't need em. I am willing to do whatever, I'm pretty decent with photoshop and am picking up my spriting skills. Let me know specifically what you need and I'll do my best!

It's my g.f's account. Apparently she was logged in on my computer, for whatever reason. It was technically my post, didn't realize that it was her logged in.
Sorry about that.

that made me LOL in real life hahaha

kool, I'm just waiting patiently...well, maybe not patiently =P

but srsly if you want me to make icons I'd LOVE TO!!! just tell me what you want...

Need weapons, armor, items, alchemy, gems, and interface stuff like copper, silver, gold, platinum, stopwatch, up and down arrows, bullet-list, etc.

Go ahead and make icons. Go for 64x64, just keep your source files so we can scale them down without losing too much quality. In game will most likely be 48x48.

New feature set:
Battle Bonuses
Configure bonuses for battle completions meeting certain requirements, such as:

Without a Scratch (+50% Experience)
No damage taken.

Grand Arcanum (Recover up to 25% MP, all characters)
Win a fight using only magic skills.

Tricks of the Trade (Recover up to 25% HP, All Characters)
Win a fight using only rogue skills.

Burning Steel (Removes any negative status effects, all characters)
Win a fight using no specials.

Still Standing (+25% Experience)
Win a fight whilst all characters have < 10% HP.

--
Just for a few examples. Will be fully configurable.

EDIT

Tell you what. Send me icons for the program itself. When I select one (though more than one may be added to the RTP) the creator gets a free beta copy. After this, there will only be one more seat for the beta team before the project is released.

When you say 'for the program itself', do you mean 'the icon that will go on the .exe file when the game is released'? Because if so, I'd like to participate (though I will surely lose).

O.o quite a bit of goodie's there, but i do have a prepared database of items ive been maticously creating for my sandbox game over at kids.platinumart.net. Should be around 400 items in total, all 3d rendered however, but i can take the base png or bitmap images and re-edit them without to much trouble.

Quick question

1) Will these need to be animated or still-frame, i have some beta objects with full 3d view i can send you in gif format for the showcasing of armors, rings, weapons, ect. :dead:

PS. also if you get time, pm me some information on what the editor_base will look like, color scheme's and whatnot to go on, and I will see about matching color cursors (animated-non) either, so that it will match up with the default screen.

well the problem with that is they are going to sell this program so they would need to be completely custom made icons, I don't think your icons from another program would work, from an "intellectual property" standpoint. I could be wrong, but I doubt it...

He made them FOR another program, but they didn't come with the other program.

oh, ok then I totally misread that lol

uups =P

so then, it looks like the icons are covered...

sheesh it feels like I'm being slowly phased out...beam me up Scotty!

so what's left then?

Haha, no worries ricoman! I am by no mean's the best graphic artist out there, and there's plenty of room around here for all we can get! :fap:

My problem lie's in scripting :barf: , for me it rate's right up there with cottage cheese and sunday drivers.

btw if you guy's do want to check out a upcoming and (noob friendly, thank god) 3d engine for game building, do check out my link in the "game and application development" dept, titled "Beautiful new 3d game maker". All i can say here, bit off topic, but it's lead to me making a premade database for my own creation, which i can gladly modify for use for some of you guy's!
It's not just off topic to promote someone else's project in a topic about another program, it's kind of rude.

You mention in the topic you've 'stumbled across it', but you seem awfully familiar with it.

Thanks for your offer of support, Zeus. I appreciate the fact that you placed the spam as a footnote in your message, rather than directly spamming my thread. But a lot of people could consider that disrespectful, especially inside of another game engine's thread.
And thank you, Alexander, for keeping your eyes out for me. Appreciated.

To be honest with you all, I'm not really looking to get into 3D rendered. I'm a registered TGEA user- if I wanted 3D, I would have gone 3D. This is 2D. I'm looking for, if anything, an anime-esque feel. There will be a day when I step through the doors into 3D. But that is not today.

As for the icons, yes, the actual program icon. I want about 5 of them; Whoever sends me the one I use as the main icon gets a beta copy. The other 4, well, we'll work something out. Maybe a discount. The main one needs to be Architect related, whereas the other 4 just need to be RPG-related in general.

I'll be away for about 48 hours. Should have some news when I come back.

And this, my friends, means one of two things. Either Theory is looking for some external support, or he has begun scripting the actual engine. Incidentally, once the engine/interpreter is done, I can begin work on the actual game engine that the game builder can use/manipulate. Unfortunately, lacking an Xbox 360, I am out of the beta team for the 360 version, and can't even test my own scripts. Kind of a letdown for a programmer, actually. Can you imagine having to go through other people just to test a script?

Hmm, maybe you'll know Glitch, how big are these icons for the .exe meant to be ? Is it 32x32 ?

I assume he means Windows Vista ready, which will mean this:

The icon contains 12 formats: 16x16, 32x32, 48x48 and 256x256 pixels, all in 16M, 256 and 16 colors.

That's a quote regarding what Vista uses for its icons. 16m is just 32-bit 24-bit color. Just remember to make it legible in 32x32 and not look bad in 256x256, and you should be fine. (IN fact, if theory allows it, maybe make it where the icon changes a little as it shrinks, so that it still looks good) The best waiy to achive this is to make a seperate, but similar 256x256 version, and to avoid any and all text. Also, you'll want to give him the source file(s).

Edit: Thanks to Alexander for the correction of 24-bit vs. 32-bit colors.

Ok man, no worries, if you want non animated, all the easier, ill see what .png's i got laying around that will match the menu-esque feel, shouldn't be to hard to come up with something from scratch if all else fails. :box:

I remember my companies first mmorpg title debut man, at the time my 7800 had fried, and my hard drive was faulty for whatever reason, i dont remember. But the actual day of the release i had not gotten a chance to see our rendition coloring on some of our models, up from the beta. I felt pretty stupid at the time man, with buyer's seeing the models before i could. I felt like a total a$$.
Alexander >
At the time it got mentioned, I won't mention it here, I was doing a port over from that engine and my game to this engine. So it got mentioned (much like scripter's credit imo). Intention's were that it be considered "support" for this engine, not "competition", considering it's an entirely different type of program meant for a totally different gaming experience. However I see your viewpoint, and I will edit accordingly. :smoke:

I talked to theory about what was likely to happen if I bought a 360 used, and got some bad news. The problem appears to be that I'd have a high chance of getting a console that was banned from Live because the previous owner was experimenting with burning their own copies of stuff. (Or, even worse, I might get a bricked console) So, I'd either have to buy a used one and see what happened (And, if it is banned, see if I can get MS tech support to unban it, which they might do. I mean, they practically give away copies of XP instead of calling someone a pirate!), or I'd have to shell out a couple-hundred bucks for a new console, which doesn't seem to be the best of ideas at this point.

O.O

That brings up a good point, I've got a friend who fell for the "bricked" used one (Red Ring of Death), and new one's still are a bit pricy that is true, only thing i can think of is if you can find someone you know, close to you that has one you know for sure works on live, they might come off it cheaper. Or if not, a wholeseller might have a pretty good deal. But as you said, at this point it's a expenditure that might not be worth it for you to invest. :fap:

PS, here is a Really quick mock up of some worn 64x64 silver coin's. Sample includes bump mapping for indentation, embossing and sharpening. Nowhere near perfect, but i needed to see if this was the "idea" of what your looking for, if so ill work on "silver, gold, copper, platinum" first.
