Fall of the Living: First Outbreak (Full Game Thread)

I understand that the muzzle flash is for illuminating dark areas but isn't the fire on the very front of the gun too big?

I know it looks like that xD but its just one of the frames in the animation. I edit them in a certain way to look smoother. If you see it in action it won't look that way, that paticular frame is only there for 1 frame. I make the muzzle shrink/grow/shrink/fade

Today I will probley be making new zombies with new walking animations, and adding the FAMAS assault rifle. Maybe a melee weapon as well.


Also, I been thinking about releasing an arcade mode as a seperate game. Probley would include a lot of diffrent levels. like you know the city and forest and ect. and all it would be about is killing zombies with the provided weapons, and racking up as much points as you can while doing it. More face paced than the story mode.
 
Thank you. : ] the foot bothers me a little bit too. a long decision I been thinking about is switching to 8 frame movement. I havent decided yet though. oh and That jeep is not shaded fully because its not complete. When I have all the textures made and mapped out, this map will look nothing like this. It will be that freeway i have mentioned. You will be able to run the zombies over with your car/truck/jeep.

I will be working on all new zombie death animations this week for the new and old zombie sprites. I also been feeling like working on the chainsaw. To go with the chainsaw I will also be working on dismembering limbs from chainsaw and gunshots.
I also want all new headshot animations for the lower strength weapons. You will love what I have in store for the chainsaw!
 
In my opinion something that you could do to improve your new zombies is to dirty up there hair. It looks to clean to me. Also the arms on the new male one could use some improvement. That being said the chainsaw sounds great. I can not wait to see some limbs flying =D.

Good idea to dirty up the hair. It does look too clean for a walking corpse xD

i have played the demo, and i think its pretty good! :D

the only thing i didnt like was the range of the weapon's. That was way to short.

Id like to know as well? and i know you didnt play it now because the range of the weapons is fine, the shooting travels a little farther as you can see on the screen.


anyway heres a few updates

final melee weapon list.

Melee weapons are planned, but i only scratched the surface. I have the melee coding already completed its just waiting on graphics.

The melee weapons will be in areas that they make sense. Such as a baseball bat may be found at a gym or sports store. Shovel at a construction site, ect. Most maps will have their own signiture weapons located in it.

Heres something new I started on, I thought you guys might like to see this.
It's the monroeville/dawn of the dead 78 Airport. It's for the battle mode, it has nothing to do with the story. You just have to exterminate all the zombies on the map. When I'm done it will have zombies based off the movie.


It's VERY bare bones right now so just bare with me, i need to add much more graphics. Alot of this stuff is PLACEHOLDERS.


I just posted it to announce the level.

Yeah I thought of that as well. It would be cool to have vintage zombies on that map. And you read my mind. I was thinking of having a night of the living dead map where you have to protect the house, and zombies can break through doors and windows and stuff (maybe have it similar to that COD nazi zombie mode)


Well i have an update to the dawn of the dead map (without lighting)

well each map will have a morning/day/evening/nighttime version of it.
also notice the hero now has his gun out when not aiming his weapon, instead of his walking sprite.

overall, the game looks pretty cool, looks like you put a lot of effort into this. Looking at the screenshots though, my attention is drawm by that long, bright grass. Is that permentent or are you going to replace that, because it clashes badly with the rest of your map. :)

Thank you. I agree the long grass clashes badly. I'm working on that now :) I also dont like the way the large bush has those black outlines, which im fixing now too, as well as defining the shadows more making it more detailed. Thank you for commenting, please if you have anymore suggestions feel free to post!
