Is there in decent fantasy-oriented animes or mangas out there?

Each time I go to a bookstore, to the comic section I can't find any fantasy anything. Even in the Western comicbook section. I must be BLIND.

I regret leaving my .hack//SIGN DVDs behind... I had them all too. ;_;

If you're looking for manga, ooh dear. I have a... list, to say the least.

In terms of anime, *shrugs*. Hataraku no maou sama is good, Sword Art online is kind a close (but its latter half has issues). A random list includes aoi no exorcist, saiyuki, vision of escaflowne, soul eater, tsubasa resevoir chronicles, magical kngiht rayearth, bastard!!, and meh. Others.

Neon Genesis Evangelion...
It's quite cool so far. Although they need to stop using filler shots of random shit and actually advance the plot...

Don't hold your breath on that front. The series name drops for the sake of being esoteric and slowly expounds in the vaguest way possible a glorified origin story for mankind with little to no actual exploration of such implications, but ultimately it uses a lot of episodes to say very little.

I read/watch stuff for various reasons, but I found that NGE was one of the stuff I watched for the experience. It was a p great experience, imo, and does a lot of fun mindfuck.
I find the show doesn't intend to reveal ltierally everything in its entirety, to which I don't particularly have any issues with because, as stated, the expeirence was already p full. IT reveals everythign else through various mediums - manga (alternate adaptations and revelations), games, and info books.
I found some of its final messages pretty complete - humans and loneliness and etc. etc.
*shurgs*
The reasons to hate it are perfectly valid, but there are some great reasons to enjoy it for what it is, especially the couple venues it opens up for you to explore should you desire to.

Kimi wa Nozomu Ein or something like that.

Someone recommended it to me based on my enjoyment of Clannad. It's a tragedy. Done well so far.

ATTACK ON TITAN IS SO GOOD

I need to watch it, I guess. First thing I ever heard about it was that it was generic shounen shit or something. Not that I trust most anonymous opinions, mind, but usually I never watch without a solid rec.

yeah spook's i did too, everyone trolled me into thinking it was LOL HEH ANIME ACTION ADVENTURE and at first i thought the protag was a naruto clone but MAN I COULD NOT BE MORE WRONG.

Just started watching Attack on Titan. I don't know man. I'm on episode 4 and it feels like Full Metal Alchemist and Naruto. I'm still waiting to see what makes it different. I heard something crazy happens in 5 though.

yeah i can see the naruto thing. fma maybe because of the art style/world? its very different imo so far. plot wise its not close to those though.

It's kind of moving slow for me, maybe because I'm not a huge anime fan at all and had the unfortunate experience of watching Kiba.

I don't know, not enough actually happened for me to warrant 13 episodes, and a good portion of characters questioning themselves over and over in high-stress situations could be cut-out.

Guys
guys
watch senyuu
this shit hilarious
(moreso cause I know the general RPG tropes)
Each episode is like 5 mins long and it's like
lolwut

I found out my college has an anime club.

Don't know if I want to check it out to laugh at their probably poor taste or their potentially good selections.

More relevant, been reading Bakuman because it caught my attention. I watched up to episode 13 of Attack on Titan and then failed to keep up with regular releases since then. I'll probably rewatch the series in one go when the season finishes.

I just want to point out that if you enjoyed .hack//SIGN enough to own the DVDs (and regret leaving them somewhere), you're a lot more open to anime than most people I know. The most I can get out of a lot of my friends on that subject is something to the effect of "There was too much talking, but at least the music was good." Especially since their major flaw was that if you missed like five minutes, you HAD to go back to watch what you missed or you would have no idea what was happening or why. (I own the DVDs and all the albums. All of them.)

As for other fantasy oriented anime...you could also try Sword Art Online. It's practically the same idea as .hack//SIGN at the very start, and it also takes place in a fantasy-oriented MMO. There aren't that many recent anime series that take place in anything close to fantasy environment. It's just not that common, for some reason.
