Awesome Bro

But I'm not a fan of Devil Survivor, lol...

You should watch the Disgaea anime by the way, it's only 12 episodes so it won't take you long, and it's pretty good, better if you've played the first game too (Since it's based on the first Disgaea with Laharl and crew)

Watched both seasons of Darker Than Black. Apparently the gritty, future-esque setting appeals to me, because I seem to like nearly every show with it.

I'm re-watching Cross-Game since I'm a baseball dork. Show has legitimately great characters, though, and the first episode does an amazing job getting to you.

I'll finish out Attack on Titan in my usual five-episode bursts. I'm pretty sure I already know how the last bit's gonna go down, but we'll see.

Also gonna watch Nekomonogatari eventually. I love all the Monogatari series; don't care what peeps say about Nise. Go watch 'em. They're wonderful.

Getting real tired of the Attack On Titan episodes killing time with Aron's bitching. Iknow they're doing their damnest to not catch up to the Manga, but seriously.

Of all of the characters, he has the least to bitch about during battles

Finished up with Kimi ga Nozomu Eien -- Rumbling Hearts -- which I started ages ago. It's a tragedy/drama about a bunch of people who won't be upfront with their actual feelings about people and it gets them into a load of shit with each other. I didn't particularly enjoy it. Needless comedy scenes involving recurring characters with absolutely zero need to exist, too.

Started watching Ranma out of an urge to see if mid 1980s - early 1990s anime is as good as I remember. My only alternative was Touch by Mitsuru Adachi -- the same dude who created Cross Game. So far, my answer is yes. As awkward as the voice acting is at times (oh god moose why), it's so much more generally enjoyable than most shows from the past decade or so.

I think you just touched on something that's been bugging me a lot with recent shows. Back then they had completely different set of voice actors. Today it's like I hear the same voice actor everywhere. The voice gives the character more personality than a design and outfit ever could. A really unique costume, hairstyle, or art style does nothing if the voice is johnny yong bosch who has done voices for just about every series.

Seriously, I'm playing a psp game call Mimana where the main character is suppose to be a gambling deadbeat. And johnny yong bosch plays his voice. Naturally the game gets high praise for it's voice acting. He might be a good voice actor but he sounds so generic at this point. He's always the voice of the tough "cool" character. Vash the stamped, Ichigo in bleach, Kiba in Wolf's Rain, Lelouch in Code Geass, Nero in Devil May Cry...just look him up on IMDB and they don't even have everything listed. I swear cartoon network doesn't run an anime series unless bosch voices a main character. Fuck toonami, they such just call it the bosch block. It might have been a coincidence back in 2009 for 2 back-to-back shows to have him as the main character. But now it's just stupid.

I mostly know JYB as Adam from the Power Rangers and as the lead singer of Eyeshine :x

He's a good VA for a lot of roles. It's not exactly his fault that every character he plays sounds the same; it's Ichigo's voice that gets hired, not JYB himself. Producers want the iconic voices. Which is really stupid IMHO since, like you said, the voice is what makes a character unique.

Anyways, took a break from Ranma at 50 episodes in. I felt like checking out Full Metal Panic since I see a lot about it. I was expecting another comedy that involved a lot of perversion. I was actually pretty happy to find it really does have its fair share of action. Nothing spectacular, mind, but I'm digging it so far.

I guess the easiest way to share what I've been watching is to post my MAL again: Link

So I finished the Ranma anime only to discover the story is nowhere near complete (like, the manga equivalent is volume 22.5 of 38). I'll be reading that for the next few days more than likely.

Still haven't gotten around to watching Nekomonogatari yet, which I absolutely will do eventually, sense that's a brilliant series.

Also finished up the first season of Full Metal Panic. Above average, I'd grade, but nothing spectacular.

Outbreak company

THIS IS EVERYTHING I EXPECTED AND MORE

It's absolutely hilarious. As someone well versed in every single goddamn japanese otaku trope and series, it is glorious.

THE MUSIC IS HILARIOUS.

I am enchanted with this anime. It's so fun yet obviously generic yet AWARE of its genericism. It has SUCH a based on light novel feel, so if there's any degredation in later episodes it should be slow.

tldr harcore otaku is send as cultural ambassador for a newly discovered magical fantasy world connected to japan. shenanigans of pure anime otaku feel.

So this season:

log horizon is p great. It actually feels like an mmo anime and not an anime that happens to be in an mmo.

Beyond the boundary is just great.

kill la kill is good.

I reserve judgement on strike the blood.

Tokyo ravens is promising, if it can do its source material good.

outbreak horizon is amazing.

And besides kill la kill every single one of these is based on a light novel.

It's a good season for anime.

I started watching Log horizon. It is pretty good. I see what you mean about it feeling like an MMO that happens to be an anime. Although it feels like the characters are somewhat op.

I also want to start watching Beyond the boundary.

I watched two episodes of kill la kill. I agree it's good. but it's just too anime for me xD

I really need to find more sci-fi anime. I started watching No. 7, but I never finished it...

For Kill La Kill, just embrace the ridiculousness. Just take it in and go with it. KNOWING THE STUDIO, it just gets better and better the more you watch (but naturally this isn't a given). The show is a magical girl deconstruction anyways.
Like when the costume was revealed, I laughed and laughed and laughed. Like srsly, wtf.

I hope log horizon it's better than Sword Art Online. Sword Art Online started off good but then it dropped the whole survival theme for a love story halfway through. Up till that point they were struggling to escape the game, it was life or death. I was invested in the story to see if or how they got out. It kinda makes sense that just when they got comfortable living a virtual life, it ends. But the whole romantic interest thing happened so suddenly; it was like one day they started playing house and adopted a daughter; and I was suppose to care if they were torn apart after that? It went from a grim situation with people dying in every episode to a fairyland soap opera love triangle drama where the worst case would end in a loveless marriage. WTF.

As I said,

SAO = a guy vs god in an mmo SETTING. But mainly shitty romance.

Log horizon = a game ABOUT an mmo and the players in it, with (the usual light novel) hints of romance, sorta.

It also has a very decent soundtrack that's complimentary of every scene. Decent animation. IMO, better source material/plot (I've read the light novels for both).

I agree that the shitty romance in SAO did ruin it. Especially with the second half of the series.
I still maintain that SAO was good. I got very invested in it.
But log horizon is quite good. Although we've spent about 4 episodes having Shiroe and Crescent moon make money and it's getting kinda old now. I just hope that the next episode all this talk is over and they can go back to fighting monsters.
I'm not sure if I like Shiroes signature spell. Although it was quite genius how he used it along with Nyanta.
I wish they'd focus more on That ninja girl becoming better friends with him. I dunno...

Kuroko no Basuke.
It's pretty great. I love how weak Kuroko is yet how amazing he is.
Log horizon is getting amazing and Beyond the boundary is too!
I also watched a little bit more of Kill la kill... I think I'll have to watch this one in stages cause it's just... too anime.
I've been advised to watch some Boondocks but I haven't gotten around to that yet

Beyond the boundary's ending was kinda really retarded. It lacked consequence, explanation, reasoning, logic. They could have spent like 10 seconds
exactly why/how kuriyama got back; OH SHE'S BLOOD ATM SO WHEN THE BEYOND THE BOUNDARY WENT BACK SHE NO LONGER HAD TO HOLD IT TOGETHER SO......
Couldn't even do that :\

But no. They just ran out of source material. Villain had no reasoning, backgrounds were never fleshed, nothing was ever explained, and the main characters never really were in any danger (or you never felt like they were in danger). Random relationship issues between those other non main characters.

It scores at most a 75/100 from me, MOST OF WHICH came from episode 9+10, which pretty much wrapped up/showed all emotional connections between the main characters. If the finale wasn't so shit it prolly would have easily gotten a 85/100.

This studio has a great batch of animators but holy fuque do they need to invest into writers.
