I have added two new item-giving timed events in preparation for a future quest. I won't say where or what but it's nothing special and they're both 24-hours. Harvesting them won't help you much until their items actually do anything.



I am going to start making a guide/faq, which will be accessible by clicking a ? on each page - it will tell you information about that page. So if you're in your inventory and click it, it will explain why the mouse changes from a pointer to a cross to a star, etc.
 
Written up the plot for the second quest which will require the first quest to begin.

It requires 7 NPCs, 9 areas, 1 time event, and unlocks a whole region of areas afterwards.

I'll work on it tonight if I don't have Uni work to do.

It will also require some new functions and graphics so it might take some time!

I'll finish the first quest at the same time so they sort of lead on from one another. The first quest is going to have an optional ending anyway.


Once they're done, I'll make a quests screen which will tell you which you have or haven't started.
 
i has a kind of idea it might not a good one though
i'm thinking with some npcs we could have a choice on what we say
like in the west gate where you go through the gate and talk to someone and she asks if it's a bad thing that vamps have to stay alive by drinking blood we should be able to say either yes or no
 
I have coded a help system.

It's quite smart, what it basically does is adds an icon to the top left linking to a page with a faq on it.

Now that in itself isn't much, but if I add a staff-only bbcode [help]name[/help], it replaces the link with a link to the help page called "name".

So, I can add that to any page, and it will make the help icon link to the appropriate help page.

I will start adding guides for the inventory, shops, etc, as appropriate.
 
Please Note

The Straupuft / Straupuft Marsh areas are largely under construction. You can still do things there, but you might find a dead end, or a broken NPC, while I create the second quest. It won't harm anything.



There is a new timed event - a herb patch - offering three random items once every so often.

Because of the value of them it has been twinned with the scrap metal event, so now you can do either once per however often it happens.

The time has also been tweaked.

I had to code a new function for this but it works.
 
I have moved this to Completed Games and created a better first post.

I may consider posting it on other forums to build up some activity. Feel free to use your userbars elsewhere!

I would, but I'm trying to keep away from that because of future updates which would affect the player's avatar in terms of color scheme among other things.

Keep searching! Unfortunately, equipping has not been implemented yet, but soon!

Heh. It was too complicated for it's own good and the lag you see there is real time lag.


Poke: I will try and make the quests more accessible. You start this one by trying to go through the West Gate.

From then everything anyone says is a clue (although I probably haven't been very subtle).

I'll create a quest menu which will list start points and whether or not the quest is complete.
 
I've been working on the second quest. It isn't finished but you can get as far as unlocking a new world map icon - The Myre.

I need opinions: should I write quest guides or not?

If I do they'll come out at least a week after the quests come out to let the first few get some glory.

This second quest is probably another boring and easy one. These first few are really just to test the system and get it working. That's why there's no end to either yet because I haven't coded the quest finish systems!
