What Tutorials Do you Need?

this is probably the dumbest request in the world, but i need a tutorial that shows me this:

after i let the player change the name of the actor, how do i put that name in all the text instead of the actors original name?

i can answer this one for you :)
say if you want it to say

hi there "name"
how are you?

in the insert text command you would put:
hello there \n[actor id]
how are you?

where the actor id is what number they are in the database.
so using the rtp aluxes is 001

say you change his name to george you would use \n[001] and then it would display george instead of aluxes

I need information regarding how RMXP calculates or uses Strength, Agility, Intelligent, and Dexterity points of a hero. Since I'm going to use Synthesize's Actor Customization script, I need to know what it does so I can set the base status for each hero job (warrior, etc.)

I need a tutorial for making White Ties style animated battlers and one for making EES (Enterbrain Extra Style) icons.
 
I suppose I'd like to see a tutorial on making an NPC follow a PC and a PC following a PC, if you know what I mean...

I'm kinda hopeless with events, map design is more my thing o_O though I did make one where the main character walks to a another character and appears to talk to it by itself with not much intervention other than the player passing over an appropriate event...
 
i dont know if this is the right spot to post this question but, my question is....

Is there an event or a way to freeze ur character from changing graphics when pressing the movement buttons during set move route event? Cuz i was pressing the movement button such as down,right,left, up keys while in player set move route event and it overwrites the set move route event to the moving graphic sprite. PLZ HELP ^_^

I even tried putting the wait for movement completion event before and after the set move route event and yet, it didnt help
 
i don't know what you actually mean there could you be more specific ?

anyway .. here's a different but a little more complicated approach:

instead of using the [wait for move's completion command] you could instead use the normal [wait ..] command :

if i calculated this right .. each step = 8 frames

Use autostart instead of parallel process for your commanding event, the player is frozen during an autostart event.

@BlackWings:
There are different speed that varies the length of the steps, and the actual speed per frame might differ from comp to comp as well.


I think the General Support sub forum is the appropriate place to ask minor questions.
 
ok im sorry, but i have just tried the autorun command start and yet it did not solve the problem :( u can still press the move commands and the set move route will change to the moving sprite. The character will not move from its place but the graphic sprite will change to the movement that u press from the button for example:

When in cutscene, i use set move route event and use graphic change and switch up each graphics on the player. During that move route event showing the cutscene, u can press down,up,left or right then the cutscene will be ruined and will be switch to the movement graphics of what buttons u press and the cutscene will be stopped. another words the graphics will be replaced or overwritten by the movement graphics when u press any of the up,down,left,right keys while in cutscene from the move route event. Is there any way to freeze the player character to where if u press any buttons including up,down,left,right that nothing will happen neither the graphics will be overwritten?
 
Here's a request, are there any good tutorials on using the house parts of the tilesets?

Meaning making houses that aren't just stretched/skewed versions of the default?

I really can't figure out how to use them, and make them look right.

So, I'd suggest this, unless there are already some someone could point me too, but I don' think there are any because I sorted through a lot of search results and only found one with a blurb on using the houses better

lorddonk--I think there is a tutorial on that in the Mapping Academy.

The Sea King--Try looking for the RMXP Graphic Templates. They have a Windowskin Template that you can use to make your own.

There. The big blue part is just the center of the window. Try to make it something that won't mess up when skewed/stretched to fit a window.
The top right block of colors should be the border. Try looking at the default windowskin and other custom windowskins to get an idea of what goes where. Hope that helps.

Now I am looking for a guide to make autotiles....(I'm a non-stop-Photoshop-making-guy)
 
Working on a project here with a vampire, and thought it would be cool to be able to add an effect that when he bites some one in battle he'll be able to heal him self. Like an HP absorb kinda thing...
He's part of the party so I dont know how to have the skill affect him and the enemy. Any one know of a tutoral for this?
