To all the people playing FF13, is it as terrible as it looks?
Sort of like JD said, its entertaining but its not the best game ever. There are a few things that bother me:
1) In the menus, I cannot read the text and numbers very well, and find it hard to actually see the difference between a 3 and 8.
2) There is really no grinding in the game, so that extra experience dealios you might have kind of go kupput. Its a double edge sword.
3) The game starts out slow where it only consists of button mashing almost. Its going to take a while before actual strategy is involved in the B. system. Think XII but less options. However, you will have your hands full with one character, and the AI so far has had no problems. There is also an option to slow the speed of battles.
4) It takes a while before you actually understand whats going on in the story and you need to read all of the logs about the world to totally understand what is what, because half the time the game does not tell you.
5) The game is linear, but its basically X right now minus the puzzles.
6) The game does not have towns but there really is no need so dont worry about that. You can buy things at every save point.
7) I still dont understand the weapon customization thing, and I do not know whether if I am doing it right or not. Again, the game kind of throws you in the dark about whether you sell or use your loot.
8) While you dont have control of all your characters, they split up into 3 different factions, its not a huge deal. Non-active character still gain AP from battles. However, not every job is available to every character, so you really need to adjust to each character.
9) Sometimes in battle, I have absolutely no clue what I am doing. It takes some experimenting.
These are just a few gripes I have. Im like on chapter 4ish I think. Its really a matter of personal taste on whether or not you enjoy the game. If you are worried, rent it. Again, the game plays like X minus puzzles and in my opinion a better battle system that doesnt require you to switch your characters over and over. However, again, you are stuck with characters. The battles sometimes can be really hard or really easy depending on what you are doing and how you start the battle. o:
P.S.: Peri, I liked 12 too for the same reasons.
