FFXIII.

Just got on to disk two. I'm still having fun, but I absolutely hate having Vanille and Sazh as my only party members. I leveled the both of them to be more support characters (Medic and Ravager), so I'm having a tough time getting things done with them.

I'm starting to appreciate Hope more, though. He's got some potential to be a really potent Medic/Synergist, although his ravager skills are sort of suckish.

And he's still a total pussy.

See guys, you CAN play the game AND have fun!

Yeah you're on the worst chapter in my opinion, Sazh and Vanille really don't make the best team...

For once I agree with Mega Flare. I'm a big dork for Tales games, and I just can't stomach this game. The monster catching aspect is kind of cool, until it dissolves into, "Get the strongest monster and mow everything over". Which... happened almost right away if you do the side quests. So yeah... Doesn't help that the story made NO SENSE in the time line between Symphonia and Phantasia.

Picked up where I left off on star ocean 2. The save file was dated Feb 2010. That was around the time my dog died, I must have gotten depressed and forgot about the game. I stayed up all night and played from part where you visit the four fields to the end.
Now I need to finish my other psp game I haven't played in almost a year, Y's 7. Then maybe try playing Bayonatta again, got her Panther transformation before losing interest in the game. 2010 was not a good game year for me.

Well, there are people who have played the others who think that it's a good game. I also believe that there are people who figured out how the games connected properly. Did you get the Good Ending?

Also, one question about the original, are the major cut scenes hand drawn or rendered with the in-game engine? Or are the images I've seen from the OVA?

Yes, I got the Good Ending, and it STILL MADE NO SENSE. The only games in the Tales series that are actually connected are Symphonia and Phantasia (Symphonia being a prequel made for Phantasia's 10 year anniversary or something around those lines). If you play both the original Symphonia and Phantasia then you'll understand why the sequel gets so much rage from fans. The only thing that will make me play it again is because I got my hands on an Undub copy, and I plan on trying it out as soon as I can update my Wii.

There's really only two major cutscenes in the GCN version: the opening video, before you even see the game start menu, and the ending, and they're animated. Anything else you've seen are either from the PS2 version (which wasn't released outside of Japan) or the anime.

One thing I really don't get about the original is why the skits aren't voiced. I've heard that they are in the Japanese version. That and the rather odd graphics are the only two things I'm not looking forward to. Does the PS2 version use the same odd graphics? Why did they even use them in the first place?

The graphics are just the style they decided to do the game it. Cell shading was pretty popular around that time, so they did their own spin on it.

As for skit voicing, English editions of the Tales series didn't start with that until Vesperia. I don't know what their reasoning for it was (probably didn't want to pay the voice actors more), but yeah. Namco has this whole thing where they don't believe that they have a market for Tales outside of Japan, so the rest of the world usually gets subpar stuff, if they get it at all.

I'm still waiting for them to get a clue and release Radiant Mythology 2 and 3 in English, but now with the Vita, that's probably not going to happen.

Grand Chase. It's this neat little Korean (I think) MMO Action RPG. The voices are terrible but the music is great and it's a nice time sink. However, the fact that you start with three characters and unlocking more can take a while is kind of annoying.
