What games are you currently playing?

Playing Fallout: New Vegas on pc.

So far, it's a pretty good game. I like all the new additions to the game since Fallout 3, particularly the new iron sights. The new companion system is pretty nice to, makes it easier to manage them. New weapons are pretty sweet too, but not really astonishing. Gambling is cool but probably could have been done better, as it's easily exploitable. In the end, however, New Vegas doesn't feel like much more than Fallout 3 in a different city (which is ravaged by whores instead of super mutants). That doesn't bug me too much though, because I loved Fallout 3. Also, I miss Three Dog.

amnesia is

is just so freaking not scary!!!

god damn it

i think this indy company is a good company and they have good ideas and i look forward to what they produce with a better budget but

well honestly you could just throw away about 3/4ths of this game

Amnesia's not dumb, it's just like ... really repetitive.

the entire time you are walking through halls and rooms that have the same concrete or stone textures, filled with the same objects as in any other room. when you see gorey piles, they all look the same as any other gorey piles, and never act or move differently.

There are only like 2 zombie/monster types (you're not 'supposed' to look at them -- and the one with the crazymouth is pretty good, but honestly we need atleast a LITTLE more variation).

the beginning has a good amount of variation in "scaring" techniques and concepts, but after you get to the big fountain (like only 1/5th of the way into the game), there is almost no variation at all. it's just: creepy sounds, strangely obtuse notes, trying not to run out of oil every 10 seconds, looking for tinderboxes, and then solving lever/knob/item puzzles that all feel like they were afterthoughts to pad the gametime. Oh, and trying to locate all the umpteen-bajillion items that are required just to assemble the fucking puzzle so you can solve it.

it's not a shitty game, and like i said, it's really impressive for an independent developer, but if they make Amnesia 2, it's going to need A LOT of work.

gosh you guys make me feel like such a wimp, amnesia's the only game that's scared me at all recently x:

maybe because i gave it the full lights off + headphones cranked treatment but still

you're right that a lot of the scares are super repetitive though. i just hope that developers maybe look at it and think "hmm, maybe we can make a scarygame with cool immersive 1st person affects and not make the main character a gun toting superbadass"

I just downloaded the demo for Dragon Age 2

Let's see if its Major Fucking Win or Epic Fail

Considering it Bioware, I'm placing my bets on the former

I tried the Dragon Age 2 demo... played as a rogue, I really wasn't impressed, maybe it's an old build, but damn it looks ugly as fuck, and the combat is so boring, the game just feels too... cheap, in terms of controls and looks, y'know what I mean? I was looking forward to it too, but this really turned me off, don't think I'll be getting it anymore.

Bought Nier today, going to play it later, watching Burke and Hare at the moment

nier is really good

don't let the annoying sidequests and slightly ugly graphics get you down because it's a goodass game w/ a lot of heart

that's a shame about DA2, i was hoping it would improve on DA and be enjoyable at least but from the sounds of it it looks and plays pretty unpleasantly

Oh graphics really don't bother me in games as long as the gameplay is good (Disgaea games?), and yeah I've heard lots of good things about it, can't wait to start it...

Dragon Age 2 really disappointed me, it just isn't a nice game to play at all, well, the demo isn't, the game could have huge improvements, but I'm not willing to pay to find out.

Still playing Tactics Ogre on the PSP.

About to make a big decision, so I'm waiting on Star's response to help me out (I need the lead male after one of his characters). :) Also, trying to build Weapon Skills with mages are not fun - but ah wells, still a good game. ^_^

After finishing Final Fantasy VII, I decided to finally give VIII a try as well. A lot of the criticisms I've heard over the years are totally right, and yet a lot of them really don't bother me all that much. The junctioning system is so easy to abuse, but it's not completely worthless. But then there's a bunch of stuff that seems to bother nobody else but me as well, ugh. Disc 1 wasn't bad but I really felt like it needed to pick up the pace and get a plot sometime soon. I'm now on disc 2 and holy hell, is this game boring. There's this prison escape that just seems to last for ages, and it wasn't fun. I didn't want to stop for a while, just because I'd have to start in that god-damn prison again if I'd continue afterwards and I really wanted to get the fuck out of there. Ugh. I didn't think I'd actually say it, but I'm desperately waiting for a boss fight, because it feels like I've only had about five so far.
What surprised me the most is that at some point I really thought that the music wasn't doing anything for me, which is strange because I always hear people saying VIII's music is so fantastic. I dunno, some of the plinky-plonky-music can really get on my nerves and none of it really sticks as being outstanding. In fact, some of it is actually really droning and repetitive. Maybe I'm just curiously conditioned to thinking negative things about this game. But no, so far the music isn't doing it for me; I still think most of the themes from VI or VII are superior.

And for what I've heard, it only actually gets worse after disc 2. Golly.

Oh don't get me wrong, I don't really want to say that i dislike the game. It's definitely an alright game and there are plenty of moments when I'm genuinely having fun and the plot somehow manages to drag me along for a moment. It's just that there are also a lot of moments that make me groan.
'Man with the Machine Gun' is genuinely good though. The battle music is excellent, I really like 'Force your Way' too; it's just a shame that there have been so few -actual- bosses so far. Most of it have just been tiny "storyline/event battles" with yet another identical Galbadian soldier, or a commander just to spice things up.

VIII is total shit compared to VII. HEY LETS UPGRADE GRAPHICS AND MUSICAL SOUND AND MAKE A BLAND ASS STORY LOL WE ARE ALL ORPHANS, nice

if 8 had no uematsu and vii's graphics, it would not be revolutionary.

ix is the best PS FF imo
