Right, going to bed now, but I'll say what I've been doing for the last few hours...
Added the travelling merchant, given him a name and items to sell, in certain areas he'll also be selling rare items, I'm trying to make them a one time buy.
Improved my new inn system, basically, you buy the key to the room, so obviously talk to the innkeeper, buy the key, go upstairs, use it on the room of your choice. You might be wondering why this is, but it's pretty cool I think... it means I can have different inns charge you different prices, so in a big city, they can charge more than a small village... so if you stock up on keys from the small village... you can use inns everywhere for cheaper! Now THAT'S thinking ahead!
There's been various other things I've been working on but not finished yet... in the middle of making a new currency system which should be pretty cool.
Oh yeah, I've also made another map, just a narrow vertical map with a road and trees, with some chests, water, and enemies to fight, it's going to link the small village to other places although I might just make the small village lead to the world map, lol. Actually... that's a good idea, think I might do that instead. But then how could I implement the travelling merchant? I'll look into it when I'm not tired.
AND my first cutscene has almost come to an end! I've streamlined it too, it's not as long or informative as I'd like, but I don't want to bore the player, I want to give them more than 5 minutes of gameplay lol... so far, if I follow my notes (Yeah, I made notes!) there should be some gameplay coming in the way of sidequests and such. I'm thinking of having a notice board in each village/town/city that has a list of quests to do... I mean, I'll most likely need a script, but if I can do it with events that'd be great. Obviously there's going to be others to do such as finding a little boys cat or something daft, lol, but on the notice boards I'll put quests for killing things and stuff.
Gonna' look into that tomorrow before I go to work.
So yeah... not bad for me, eh?
