Vagrant Euphoria: Revised

Sure, you can do all the art you want. I would love to see what you can do.

Hey guys, just some updates. I have been working on the rest of Vance's model. I have been editing the muscle flow on the arms, but it isn't quite coming out as I wanted. I mean, its not bad, that isn't the situation. But, I'm not sure if I would rather put the muscle flow into the texture or just keep working on it. I will post a pic later and see what you guys think. Later, Roxas.

Hey guys. Here is the deal. I have been promising and promising and promising some rough design sketches of the Desert of the Forgotten since before I even started using Blender. And still, nada, I have left you guys hanging. Well, no more. Here it FINALLY is, the basic sketch of the desert. Mind you, this is just a little portion of it, but this style will be used throughout the area.

Now, this is a rough sketch, not the official art, but you get the gist of it ^_^. Hope you guys like it.

Guys, I gotta let you know something. It is slowly starting to drone in on me how much time and sweat this is all going to take. I just want to let you all know, that it could be a very long time until V.E. is anywhere near done, or, it just might never reach completion. Not because I am going to give up, but simply because this could take years. I mean, the animation for the cut-scenes alone could take up to a year, and that is when I have master modeling, organic and environmental, rigging, weighting, animation, and rendering. Thats quite a long time you guys. I'm not going to give up, but I just wanted to let you guys know, this is going to be a long haul.

Well, thats it for right now you guys. I hope I haven't discouraged anyone, but that facts are facts. I won't give up though, I promise. Later guys, Roxas.

P.S. Expect Gaele's character design up by this Sunday the latest. Also, I am going to start recruiting for some help from anyone with a medium level of skill in the 3D animation. I need some help you guys. Anything would be great. From modeling of NCP and buildings, to rocks or little plants. Or people who can to texturing. Thanks guys.

Hey guys, just some news. Now that V.E. has finally delved into environmental design, this means that eventually we will also need to start working in Maya with 3D set designs. After all, you can have characters with nothing to walk on! So, I am going to buy some DVD books on 3D Digital set modeling, and soon I will start working on set designs. I am going to stray character design for a while, once I start learning how do to set design because modeling a character will take a significantly shorter time then modeling entire cities and outdoor areas. Well, thats about it for now. Later guys, Roxas.

Love the new images and info.Take as long as you want to complete this.
no one like a rushed game.

I've made my topic on my game it's in my sig.Go n see it roxas when your not too busy. Keep the game rockin Roxas.

This is what I don't get. How are you going to make this work in RMXP? Even if you could script 3D camera rotation, how are you going to create the enviroment? How is it going to be tiled? Sure great ideas, but a bad canvas for them. I think you should just go full into 3D design.

Lol, I am using a fully 3D design JStreet. I am modeling the entire environments in Maya, place the characters in Maya and animation them going in all eight directions throughout the entire span of the map, take out the animations, and then use the revolution system to take the animations into RMXP. It's harder then it sounds, but it is going to work. I have actually been thinking about using a fully 3D engine, but the idea of just finding a good one and then learning C++ wouldn't be very entertaining.

Hey guys. Just some news. I am going to be getting some news training DVDs sometime within this month hopefully, on environment modeling and also some more on character modeling. I have the basic geometry done, but I need something to teach me how to do Muscle deformation. When they come in, V.E. is going to go on a temporary hiatus so I can focus my main attention on learning. When I am done, I will let you guys know, and resume work. Until the DVDs come in though, I will be working on the script, character design, and the script. Thats about it for now, just a minor update. Later, Roxas.

Well for one, I'm an actor. And I'm pretty sure I know at least one person who'd be willing to do a voice for your game, she's doing one for mine.

do we get to the see the changes to script before this goes into hiatus or has it already(theres a conspiricy around here,'starts singing paramore song'

If by haitus you mean that it will be ignored by Roxas and not worked on, then no, Roxas won't leave this project, he's already put so much time, effort, and money into this. It's high unlikely that this will become another ghost thread.

Hey guys. I don't want to hear anymore of this game given up on talk. Its nonsense, and ridiculous. I am taking a short sabbatical at the moment, trying to relax a little bit. I will resume work some time probably at the end of February. As well, I am also buying those DVDs that I mentioned previously. They are from a renowned company called GNOMON, you may have heard of them. I am buying Digital Environment Workflow and Body Modeling for Games. I am positive with this information I will be able to improve on what I already think is getting pretty great in the environment department. Thats it for now guys. Sorry if I alarmed anyone, but don't worry, Vagrant Euphoria is still very much in production.

Hey guys. I am sorry that it has been so long since my last post, but I haven't really been doing much. I needed a break. But, I am happy to say that I will resume work on March 1st. I will be working with the script for now, since I can't buy those help DVDs atm, very expensive. But, this is actually great because now I will have the spare time to work on the design of more characters, npcs, work on the script. So, thats the news. The thread might not be as active as before since I won't have major progress everyday as I had with the 3D, but I will be keeping everyone up to date, so don't worry! See you March 1st guys, Roxas.

Hey guys, its March 1st, and Vagrant Euphoria is coming back into full swing. For some starters, I will be going to 3D animation classes every Saturday to learn new techniques to make the process more efficient, more speedy, and with a great level of detail. Now, V.E. will also be incorporating new tools, ZBrush and Facegen. The two tools not only add great quality to the models, but allow them to be created much faster. Now, as per design, since I am very busy I will no longer be giving you guys days when my designs will be complete, but I will be letting you know the week. In that time frame it will be up. By next Friday, expect a new design for Gaele, as I never had a chance to actually do her's. I will also be working on the script from time to time, starting with next week. Finally, I want to talk about the engine. I am thinking of switch from RMXP to a 3D engine. Why is this? First, the animations and whole system in general will run much smoother, and much more nice. Also, running it in C++ instead of through events will reduce lag. Also, the 3D engine will be able to run the movies, char models, everything with much better quality. For now, it will remain in RMXP, but don't be surprised if it changes. One last thing, it is about the distribution of the game. You can image, with the game being in 3D, it will be a file of an extremely large size. So, I will be using 3 different distribution methods. First, I will be selling the game on DVDs for $6.50. This will cover the cost of shipping and the DVD. Second, the game will be broken down into parts, or chapters, in small files to directly download, or, you will be able to download the whole thing as a bittorrent. Well, thats about it for now, and its good to be back. Later guys, Roxas.

EDIT:: Hey guys. I have been looking into some 3D engines, and I have found a pretty interesting one. Now, most mainstream engines, the licenses cost about $100,000. Well, thats, a LITTLE bit out of my price range, lmao. So, I have been looking for something a bit cheaper, and I found an interesting program called, DarkBasic. It looks like a powerful program, can make RPGs as far as I am aware of, and the 3D power seems pretty nice. Here are some screens to see what I'm talking about.

And, this is just from amateur designers. I am confident that I can surpass these people. Tell me what you guys think. Later, Roxas.

Hey guys, just a little bit of news. I have been working on the script today for about the last half hour or so, gotten about three more pages done. I will be working throughout the night, gonna see how much exactly i can finish. I think it is coming out well so far. From the beginning of the game, I want to start adding a bit of mystery to draw the players in, and slowly add more mysteries on in layers. I am going to say right now, over half of the mysteries in the game will not be answered until Vagrant Remorse, the second part. Thats about it for now. Later guys, Roxas.
