Vagrant Euphoria: Revised

I know it's been a while since I posted and honestly it's due to skeptecism of late, however, if you should change your project maker, do let us know and I'm still keeping a close eye on this project.

Skeptecism eh? Lol, well, for those other skeptics out there who may think that this game is a lot of hot air, I am promising you that you are very seriously mistaken. I've already begun learning how to correctly model characters, learned some good techniques and a couple of things I've been doing wrong. Gaele's design along with Novaus should be up next week sometime, and i have about 10 pages of script now, with more on the way.

As for the system change, I am starting to think that a 3D engine might suite the game better. If I do change, I hope you guys don't mind me still having the thread here, despite the non-use of rmxp. Thats about it for now, next 3d lesson is next Friday, for about 2 hours I hope, so I will be learning a lot, and keep an eye out for those designs. Later, Roxas.

It's not so much that I think it's all hot air, it's just that you've changed design programmers a lot of times and whilst I personally will probably never lose interest in this game, mostly because I believe it could be the perfect format for any planned sequels/prequels to my game and am hoping you'll have gotten at least a working demo of VE out by the time I complete the first two games in my series, both of which are already planned as 2D games. It's just that the constant changing has delayed the making of Vance quite a bit and whilst we've seen alot of cool 3D things with Blender, Maya et al, we've yet to see anything coloured or at least half way to completion since the old fully block FF7 style 3D graphics from the start. I hope we can get to see something soon, maybe even make it a bday present for me on 5th May.

Ok. I see what you're saying now, and you are right. The constant changes have resulted in several delays, and we haven't gotten a model yet. But, that is mostly because I have been doing it on my own. With the classes I am taking, I am hoping that I will be able to give you guys something good. My modeling is getting better, slowly but surely. I don't know about textured, but, I think I can give you a fully modeled Vance for your B-Day

Well I'm hoping so, I need something to entertain me until I can fix my damn scripts. Until then I can't continue to work on it really.

That's because Blender is a terrible program. Spend a month on Maya and you will realize that the same way I did, lol. You should get Maya, I know you can find it on bittorrents because the actual program is around $5,000. Trust me, if you can find it on bittorrent, go for it. I got mine from my friend, but he says its all over the net.

EDIT:: Hey guys, I am a complete idiot, I forgot to mention something. I finished Novaus' design. I am happy with it, and while it might not look VERY evil, but you need to imagine the fact that his clothing is going to be in all black. If I have the time to scan it, it will be up by the end of the day. If not, it will definitely be up by tomorrow. Thats about it, I will be working on the script at around 5:30, 6ish. Once I get about 20 pages I will put it into a .rar file and upload it, so that who ever wants to read it, give me some criticism can. Later guys, Roxas.

Hey guys. I have some news. I didn't have time today to scan the design of Novaus. It will be up later on. I also have some news about the script. I have 12 pages done, and the story is starting to actually pour out of me now. But, I cannot post it up. I have confidence in every member of this community to be honest, and not use my script for any part of their game, however, I notice that there also a lot of guests that come to this website. Guests who can read whatever they want, including my script. So, until I have some spare cash where I can register with ProtectRight, and copyrighting website, so I can protect my work from the outside strangers. Once this is done, it will be up for the forum's reading pleasure. Other then that, no other news. See you later guys, Roxas.

Woah, I've been away for a bit and this is what happens? lol This is awesome. I thought RMXP wasn't going to be able to handle this. Anyway, I love the fact you've switched to DB. Though, there is a program out there that I believe does the same thing. It's called Irlicht, or something along the lines of that. If anyone knows the correct spelling, please correct me.

VE has spurred me to start saving for a powerful new desktop, as opposed to my current machine, a ball of ducktape from 98'.

I'm sorry I haven't commented in a while, I really meant to.

I think that your payment plan is really nice, actually, even though I'm not one to buy many games online. It's not expensive at all, nor is it too cheap.

This is great, that's all I can say. Congratulations on your decision. :D

Irrlicht is the program you're talking about. I saw it, and while it looks nice, it doesn't look like it can handle his res polygon models, which I plan on working with in the future. Speaking of engines, I am still in between, searching around for the best engine out there. But, for people like Petros who are concerned with delays, don't worry. The game won't be having delays because right now we aren't in development stages, so this is keeping me from doing anything.

Now, I have been searching around, looking at programs. And, I have found something very interesting. It's a professional game engine, for $100.00. That, is, amazing. I have seen screenshots of games made with it, and I can say that it is PS2, current PC quality, shots look like something out of FFXI, so, thats amazing, and you can import Maya graphics, I think. It can export to Maya format, so I assuming you can import. Now, it runs in C++, so, thats considerable harder to learn then Basic, but think in the long run it'll be worth it. Here are some screens to show you its capacity.

I am happy you like the distribution plan. I want to make it so that you don't have to pay, but if you want the game fast, you can get it fast, without paying a lot of money for it.

Well guys, here is the scan of Novaus that I promised. As I said, right now, focus on the overall design, not the evilness of it because, it will look much more evil colored in, in all black. Bellow him, is the symbol of the Negatives, this is their brand.

thats about it for now. I will be working on the script later on today. Peace out guys, Roxas.

love it!, better proportioned than the others, can't wait to see it coloured.if you'd like i'd colour it using photoshop,i'll show some examples of what i can do
. LOve the symbol aswell

thanks divine, i would love to see it in color, show me what you can do.

Hey guys, not much to report. Worked on the script today, finished about 3 more pages. Not much, but its progress. By the end of the week, expect Gaele's design up, and some images of the progress I've made with the 3D design. Thats it for now, later. Roxas.

That looks awesome, however it seems you are afraid of hands!

I love your shading though, it's simplistic yet adds depth without shading large portions like cel-shading.

Also that's a very nice engine. I'll be looking to use that when I start getting my hands wet with 3d.

Overall, this is coming together very nicely. Keep it up man.

Lol, yea Atnas, I actually am afraid of hands. Only part of the body I can never get just right for some reason. You are thinking about going into 3D? Awesome. Its really hard, but its a lot of fun to learn/work with.

Well guys, so far I've been telling you and telling you about the 3D progress I've made, but, what have I got to show for it? Well, I decided, to show you guys the progress I've made. Now, this isn't a model for the game, its a tut. model, but, it should speak for itself. This model was made, from scratch, by myself, in 2 1/2 hours.

Lemme know what you think guys ^_^. Later, Roxas.

That's really nice. Though it would be a small mountain if compared to the grass. Nice though, I can't wait to see some of your actual terrain.

Nice! Can't wait to see in game terrain either... :)

I Bloody can't get Alice nine - Jewels out of my head!!!, Not that thats a bad thing.

Hey guys. Sorry its been so long since the last post, but I've been cranking down on the script. So far its up to 34 pages, and I am not even close to the middle of the game. I want this game to be a full-length game. I am working on Gaele right now, even though it should have been out last week. I have a bit of designer's block, but eventually it'll get there. Now, back to the script. I am happy with it so far, the main storyline is going well, and I think I am putting the underlying mysteries in really well. I think its going to be good.

Graphics wise, I am going to start doing the character "blueprints" if you will. See, I have the character designs, but, you can't do 3D with that. You need to have three proportional images of each character, front, side, and top views. I am going to do it with Vance first, of course. And, I will take them to my 3D teacher and I hope he can show me how to do Vance the right way. After that, its just a matter of making everyone else. After that, you create the skeleton, skin it to the mesh, create the environment, and put in the animation. Yes, I know how easy taht sounds, but trust me, not that easy. Well, thats about it for now, nothing else much to report. Later guys, Roxas.
