Vagrant Euphoria: Revised

Hey everyone. Not very much is new, but I do have a few things I want to mention. First, I haven't been pumping out very much artwork recently. I kind of haven't really gotten much inspiration to draw. But, I will work on it over the week now that I will have the time.

I have also named the five major cities on the planet. Kyarubju The Ocean City, Trehta The Water City, Slynka The Port City, Conausus The Cocoon City, and Vyandrium the Novas City. I will start working on the designs for each city, starting with the city plans actually, how you will move about all of them. I think that with doing that, drawing the actual cities will be much easier. Next, I want to tell you about an environment I have started working on. Its the Hbaj Pass a.k.a The Dusk Cliffs. Its a very cool fantasy env., it is a area that has been effected pollution wise by the machine. The sun never rises, and never falls on those cliffs. It is in a constant sunset, always at dusk.

Now, this next comment has to do a little bit more with the future of the Vagrant Saga. This has to do with Vagrant Redemption, the 2nd part of the saga. I wanted to see how you guys felt about a new battle system for the second game. By that point, I will already be pretty experience with graphics and C++. I was thinking of making more cinematic looking, visual battles. It would work on the ACS, but I would make it more real time. Also, there would be a revamp on the Euphoria Blaze. In fact, probably a whole new system would be put into place. Just want your feedback on that idea.

Thats about it for night now. Lemme know what you guys think. I really do hope that I have a few city plans done for you by Monday guys, I'm just feeling a little exhausted right now. Peace out, Roxas.

I'd say concentrate on the game at hand for now Roxas, believe me when I say, nothing is worse for an RPG Maker than planning too far ahead. I said I wouldn't do it myself, and for the first 6 hours of gameplay I didn't, but now I've planned the whole game and it's frustrating me to the point where I've taken a time out before I go Schitzo and kill someone... or worse, stop making the game.

Hey guys, finished updating the new world map. I will post it tomorrow and then I will start working on the script again. Now that I actually have a layout of the world, I can properly write out whats going to happen. Night guys, Roxas.

Thanks. The design took me forever. And thats just the side view, I still have to do the top, bottom, front, and back view of the ship. Thats not gonna be fun. Alright guys, expect the world map within the next 1 to 3 hours. Either look back for an edit, or just someone post so I can put up a new post.

Sorry for the delay, comp. was on the fritz. Now, the image is kind of hard to see since I drew the map very lightly. I will darken it tomorrow and repost, but, I wanted to show you guys what I have right now. I will also is name all of the places for you guys.

You have the Homeland(Vagrant Base), Ash Desert, Kyarubju, Baal Jungle, Rollen Bogs, Haven Forest, Old and New Tretha, Sylanka, Gaea Basin, Aqua Hillsm Conausus, Aemis Tribe, Dusk Cliffs, Zanglba Mounts, Vyandrium, and the Caverns of Origin.

Hey everyone. I realize that the game has had very little activity, and to be honest, it is solely based on me being lazy. I didn't really want to work on it, and, I've been kind of pissed that my 3D teacher took my money and ditched to California. But, I digress. Tomorrow I will go back to work on the game full force. I am going to stop doing things all scattered and work on one piece at a time. I am going to finish the script, completely. Then, I will finish all of the character design. Then the environment design. After that, I will start working on design of all the systems, items, weapons, etc. Following that, I will start up on learning 3D again. Then, C++. Mix it all together and I will start programming it all into one big ol' game with Torque. Now, the script should be finished within two to three months, considering how much I have planned out, and the fact that now I have a complete world map. Like I said, tomorrow, I go back to work full force, so start expecting news again. I will keep you all updated with the percentage of the story I have finished and the amount of pages the script is. Thats about it for now. Peace out, Roxas.

P.S.,
I am thinking of opening an official website for Vagrant Euphoria to start spreading the news around. I love this forum, but 1) I want to get a bit more exposure to other people and 2) This game isn't being made with RMXP anymore, lol

Hey guys, sorry to get the news to you all so late. Well, been working for a few hours now, got about 23 pages done today, which is some very nice progress. I am about 10% done with the story line, 6-10% actually, somewhere in there. I will work some more tomorrow. Thats about it, night. Roxas.

Hey guys. Just posting to let you know the script is now about 67 pages. I have gotten threw about 35% of the game, so I am finally making some headway. I have good feeling about this, I really do. Also, I have just been tinkering with battle system ideas in my spare time. Thinking about revisions, changing some stuff. If anything happens I'll let you know. Also, I just got the new version of Zbrush. Its pretty cool, I'm gonna be playing around with it for a while. Thats about it, later. Roxas.

Hey guys. Just some news about the script. I am up to about 43% finished with the script. I think that the flow of it is very nice, it has a very good form of progression. First of, the first about 40% is the group making its way to Conacaus and gathering all of your group members. You learn about the history of the planet and of your characters, this is where all of the character development takes place. Then, at Conacaus is when things go bad, and for about 20% you start learning about the Councils origins, their desires, and a little bit about Novaus. Then, the rest of the game is learning about Novaus and defeating him. Thats about it right now, the whole layout of the script. I am just starting to right about when things go bad in Conacaus. I anticipate the game's script to be finished sometime in early July. Then, I will copyright, and give out the first draft to a few people like Atnas and Petros, and see what they think. Thats about it for now, later. Roxas.

Hey guys. I just wanted to post that I had a breakthrough today with the battle system I was trying to create. See, I've been working on it along side with the script (60% now btw) and I have been trying to figure out how to make it so that you get the Chain System for tactics, but then you also get something real-time and visually appealing. I have called it for now the Click Chain Battle System. Now, the first part stays the same, you have a specific amount of time in which you build up your battle chain. But, now is when the really fun part happens. After your chain is finished, you have a specific amount of time on which you can free roam the battle map. Now, on the battle map, you can do anything from running around to running up buildings and jumping off of trees to crouching and blocking to doing flips, all by clicking areas with your mouse and pressing the correct trigger buttons. When it comes to attacking, you can click which ever area of a monster or enemy you want to attack, and it will attack them. You can attack at whatever speed, style, or pattern that you want. They can block your attacks, and you can block theirs. You could literally act out entire cinematic battles within the game. Picture you running up a building, doing a trip flip in the air while your enemy is chasing after you. You bound of a building as your opponent flies towards you and you have an aerial battle as you fall towards the ground! It would be amazing. That is how the Click Chain Battle is going to work. Tell me what you guys think, because I'm pretty excited about this thing.

@Mesmerize: Basch was definitely my favorite character from FFXII, and he did influence Brande's character a bit. In fact, Brande's overall story is similar to Basch, but I hope that I did it in a way were you still feel a different connection to Brande then you would have Basch.

@Reives: My sketches are intended to be realistic, so it means a lot to me that you noticed. I want to make them look as close to real as possible so that when it comes time to model in Zbrush and Maya, I already have an idea of how it want them to look re: the faces, muscle flow, stature, weight, height, things of that nature. Vance is going to have more muscle flow Trent, and Brande is going to be more bony while still having muscle due to the fact that he was left for dead. Lenne as a spy is going to be more fit the Gaele or Beiru. After the script is done and I am going to do all of the design, in which I am going to draw them all again but in full blown detail, along with any environmental designs or monster designs.

Hey guys. Just a tiny update. I have written about 7 more pages today. Expect a first draft of the script by July 4th, independence day. It seemed fitting to release the script by then. After all, that's the main goal of the Vagrants.

Also, I have been thinking recently about what I'm going to do when I get to the music department. I mean, I can learn to do 3D animation or design areas, that takes skill as an artist, which I like to think I have. But creating beautiful music takes skill and talent as a musician, which I most certainly am not. So, that leads to beg the question, what to do about music? If anyone has any ideas, please, let me know, because at the moment I'm not quite sure of what to do at that point.

And, please let me know what you guys think about the battle system update. I really want to know if you guys like how it sounds, because it looks great in my head, and if I can put it into a system, I think it will be amazing.

Atnas, Petros, I have a small request to ask of you guys. I would really appreciate it if you guys could give the first part of my script a read. Its about 30 pages, and you guys could finish it whenever you want. But I really would like to hear what you guys think, it would be a huge honor. If you guys would like to read it, please just leave your email address here or PM it to me and I'll send it right away. Thanks guys, Roxas.
