@LegacyCrono Good call. I'll tweak the brightness a bit.

The overlay looks a lot better in-game; it's actually two separate overlays which are independently animated.

Hahah yeah, those are the character portraits on the menu. I'm using Disgaea portraits as placeholders :P

Ohh I see! :P Yeah, I think a still picture doesn't really do justice to the in-game effect :)

I recently made a forest map and used camtasia to record my screen while making it.
The video's speed has been set to 1000% of it's original speed.

This is the final product (There are some priority errors, but that's because of the script I used to create the screenshot):

I'm still not sure if I should keep the color of the orange/yelowish trees or change the color. What do you guys think? :)

@Mark: I really like the map, but it looks like, especially in the left part of the map, there are quite a few mapping errors where the trees overlap.

That's only in the screenshot. I used some events as an extra map layer, but the script I use to make screenshots of a full map draws the events on the wrong z-axis.. :(

I will post some more screenshots when I've finished learning for my exams.
 
I feel everything looks too clean, if it is something like a castle or a palace then I guess it's good, but otherwise it needs more cracks and stuff.
I'm practicing with some biggher sprites and tilesets for my next project (now that lost king is close to being finished) The sprite is a WiP but still I?m liking how it is going.
Do you like how a game looks with bigger sprites? I'm kinda getting tired of small ones...

Lots of people said the trees were too small for the character, so I made them bigger.

Why not just say "the RTP character is a place holder" instead? No need to be rude.
Didn't meant to offend, but I did say that it was a test with the tilesets and the character. No need to be a smartass. :thumb:

@craybest: Yeah, the new size looks good. The leaves still bothers me, though...
But the character is particularly good, are you using a template or something? o.O
 
Hey craybest that looks really slick. Is everything original or are those RIPs of something?

LegacyCrono: It is a little simple but it looks neat. I think it needs some refinement but its just a test so far. x:
The legs in the character sprite are a little awkward though.
I do like the inventory screen a lot though. It might need something in the lower right corner though.
And you dont have to be a total asshole and rip someone apart for asking a question, obvious or not. Don't be rude.

Oh god that looks pretty, I've said it before and I'll say it again, this will be the best RM* game ever, it's setting the bar really high, especially in terms of presentation... I must play this!
