@rpgmaker: That looks a lot like Valkyre Profile Lenneth. But god, her foot must ache after that...
@Miles Castea: First of all you've got a mapping error in the top left hand corner of the fence. They shouldn't overlap like that. Second, how can the ground be raised under it, and yet the fence it still the same height? Apart from that, the map isn't too bad, but you need loads more detail. Add long grass, add some more of those plant things the player is standing on, and vary the ground detail more.
 
Could you show me how to create a correct corner for that type of fence please? I dunno...but say it's a special type of fence...the middle is curved and goes up and into a straight part.
 
I'm going to go work on a newer version of map probably, but sould I keep the under-elevations and upper-elevations on the map? Trying to use everything I can, including weather and fog effects.

I dont have a plot but I do know where I want to go with this. It started out as me seeing if I could make a High school. Im new to VX or to RPMaker for that matter. This is my first game. Anyway tell me what you think of it so far.

I think that this is supposed to go to the screenshot thread, there is no plot, characters, background stories, and title (It actually doesn't need one, but it is still bad). All of those things need to be in a concept or project discussion thread, if you only have pictures it's best to place them in the screenshot thread stickied near the top. Other then not having anything to comment about there's not much to comment about.

An early unfinished mockup up for my point and click adventure game. So far the GUI is getting close to final but is a little under detailed. The character is effectly final apart from casting a shadow (also I haven't decided whether or not to add more general shading to him but for now its easier to animate). The background is in need of a serious overhaul and the blurriness will be removed.

@Miles: Your tree shadows have lost their transparency. I'd lose the cloud shadows since you wouldn't see those kinds of shadows when its raining and then make the blue tint a little more grey.
 
Inq, that's freaking awesome. I love the animation on your hero, though the way the bar on the glasses bob looks more like something on a locomotive than a solid bar... :x
 
lol, Inquisitor, that's utterly brilliant. What's the game being made in?
OK, after that, my screens look really weak, but here's some random screens of some tiles I've been working on, using the Perihelion template at 100%. Everything in the screen (asides from the template and icons in the HUD) are custom. The game worn't actually be made, it's just for fun.

The colour palletes were inspired by the Sandfall sprites. The house isn't finished.
 
Thanks, guys. The game is being made in Adventure Game Studio. I'm a newbie with the program but the regulars for it happily help out when I get stuck. :grin: The animation I did for the walk cycle isn't really perfect, particularly areas like the shirt collar, but in game your barely notice, so I'm happy with it.


Your graphics, fox, you should take more care with, especially on the pixel side of things. I checked it out and you're using well over 400 individual colours. For your tilesets this is rather perculiar since it's such a stark contrast to the character you're using. The best bit of pixelling there is on your rocks. However, I don't think you're that far off with your art skills.The building looks a bit flat and messy.

ya get all that info before the mods jump on ya, but the screenshots look sweet, i think your on the right track but i wanna know if you made the tileset at the bottem yourself or where you're getting them because that would be really useful if its open resource, goodluck
