You seem to be spot on with mapping, well done. I assume some people will think the cluttered maps that pop up are better but in practical gameplay terms that's just about perfect.

Cool looking system too, it does consume a lot of the screen though.
 
@Dr:
Nice atmosphere, and it's great to see some modern settings. Shouldn't the horizontal road appear a little thinner than the vertical one in perspective, though? Since they are only the same width when you stare from directly atop, in which case the buildings would be roof-only. Might be wrong though, I'm pretty bad with perspectives.

@Lih:
I absolutely love that dust-ball combat graphic style in the second one. And hey Cal what're you talking about, the mapping does pop! :p

A little screen from my game. It shows bedroom of one Nobless, which gives us some quests to do. After finishing it she gives us some gold and items, and (when our charisma stat is higher than 10) we have to make a decission (which is moral hard for main character, but it don't have to be like that for player ;P).

Trix the map is really nicely done, the customs overlay ads a subtle effect
but I am curious why is there light streaming in if the room isn't really dark?
(but that is only a nitpick)
Other than that the mapping is suberb
though I see on mistake the piece of wall on the right looks awkward as if its on the wall
and the edited rtp makes it look like a lavish place (that's what its supposed to be right?)

my only real gripe is the character on the right,
his cartoony outline clashes with the remainder of the resources
but its nothing too serious

No i ostatnia rzecz, fajnie ze jest ktos z polski na forumach ;)

Is the guy on the right supposed to look like has no arms?

Also, the maps look pretty good, I wouldn't say suberb, but good.
However why is the light coming from the bottom yellow?

The yellow light is coming from the lamp, but I have to fix it (I sux at making light effect a little :c), and the character on the right is in cloak:

OH GAWD! that map has a lot of issues. The cliff isnt detailed, its just a cliff. Also the stairs are too deep. Yo have too many different types of trees. Stick with two or three and you will be fine. Also, some of the custom graphics you have clash with the RTP. I suggest not using them. Your overall mapping needs improvement, as the water looks weird. Overall, that screenshot is a mess. :)
 
I agree with becoolio,

@Trix
1. You hardly ever see a cliff going straight down like that. Add some smaller cliffs between the top and ground. Mix it up. Make it look a little more natural, not man made.
2. The trees, like above stated, are too many. You hardly see a pine tree between a mixture of other trees, with differing colored leaves. Pick the trees that look similar, of the same color, and bunch those together. It's alright to have pine trees on the same map, but have them separated and bunched like nature would have it.
3. The stairs do need to come out a little bit. If you look at your map, you'll notice that the stairs start at the top edge of your ridge yet stop at the bottom of the cliff. This translates to a direct drop off. Either push them back up the ridge or push them down further on bottom of the cliff.
4. There are better river autotiles that are rounded and more natural looking. I'll see if I can't find them for you.
5. Add some elevation changes. This looks like a mountainous area so make it more mountainous.

On your indoor picture:
1. The pictures need centered and the one on the right is over a beam. Not likely.
2. The beams at the edge of walls do not belong in side. They belong on the outside only.

Not bad overall though. Keep up the good work!

I wasn't trying to be picky :sad: I was just trying to help. I really do like the screenshots. And I even added some compliments :thumb:
 
@Woocash: Firstly...Wow! Nice incorporation and use of the Inquisitor's tileset. There are a few inconsistencies, like the rounded walls directly beneath the stairs and some of the walls seem like they need to have a bottom to them at some point. I really really like it! Is this the whole map or is this a piece to a very large map that is the city?

First screen is our new title screen, fully animated falling sparkles and flashing Press Space To Start.
Second screen is the next part of the title, fully animated once again.
Third screen is a text test, new font possibly, not sure at this point, but it displays the new Luna sprite in our old tilesets, and the new text box display in action.

if we're not supposed to be picky, then what the fuck is the point of this thread? if it was just so people could do viral advertising, then what'd be the use of keeping this around?

it's good to get opinions from all across the board when it comes to personal standards, but people with lower standards shouldn't make it their mission to try and debunk people with higher standards. white glove tests aren't fun, but in the end things are usually better because of what they reveal.

Trix, your nighttime screentone is ridiculously blue, man. play around with the sliders a little more and try for something that actually suggests darkness instead of a flood of paint.

Axe, that screen is tiny. if that's going to be your resolution for the entire game, you gotta work on using that space more effectively.
