I'm working on a new game, cause my first one exploded.

This is a farming village, nothing special.

This is the party switch screen with all the characters.
All mugshots were done by me, using Face Maker 3.1

Wow, this is a VERY nice map in my opinion. However, those trees are killing me! I just don't think they look good in that scenery. I mean...it's a mountain, and those trees look like they belong much closer to water level in a forest or something. You know what I think would make them fit? If they had less foliage. More branch, less leaves, y'know?

But that's just my opinion. It's still a very good map.

Craybest, that is a good screen. But from my past experiences if you want to great your own, original graphics, don't look at screenshots of other games. It closes up your brain, you no longer see stuff in your own creative way. Instead your creating the same old stuff people have seen. It is a good attempt you made, but from my experiences try look at pictures and stuff not games. Cause now I cannot see things in my own way, I depend too much on a reference picture. This is just my opinion, others will probably disagree, but it is mostly what you are comfortable with. (Note: It is good to be inspired by games, but that's where it should end, you go to far, then you find yourself mimicking that game.)

I think you might be right, but I think that it can be very useful to imitate a game style to practice your own, so far I've done graphics in the style of breath of fire 2, secret of mana 2, and final fantasy 6, and with all that I know I can make my own style, that will of course have some elements from all the previously mentioned references, but for now I think i'm just practicing, and won't make a game out of it :)

I'm pretty enthusiastic about my new project!

No mockups or anything like that. Both scenes are fully walkable and ready to be battled out!

As for now, I only have one fully animated battle character, though. But I have a lot of animated battlers available to be ripped! That's probably the biggest task at the moment. Well, that and setting the height settings correctly.

The windowscreen is temporary of course.

That's awesome Celvin! Looks like it's straight out of FFT but very crisp and unpixelated for it to be rips. Are those edits from rips or originals done in that style?

Not much I can critique, good luck with getting turn based battle system worked out (and I hope you are going for one)

Thanks!

Well, it's all rips one way or another. I merged two maps from the game together and added a panorama. Simple, really. The hardest part is making it walkable with the height and everything. The characters are edits from the game, all I've done is rip it to fit RMXP. The battler is fully animated, and more are coming as soon as I rip some more from the game myself.

It'll feature a tactical battle system. I'll use GubiD's tactical battle script, which I'm pretty familiar with after a previous project of mine.

The intro level of my game is nearly finished.
The map is composed of three clouds connected by bridges. The lights on the "cloud world" sign are animated.

I'll be spending today turning the center cloud into a marketplace by adding three stands selling various things.
Here are some shots.
Give me some feedback!

Well, it looks like the perspective of the tileset is different than the RTP's, so if the movement is like in other games it looks like it could be awkward.
I could be wrong though.
But I really love that tileset, it looks awesome.

This is damn good. I like this almost monochromatic style. Are you planning to make a demo?
A demo will be available soon. I'm just waiting on my musician.

The movement feels a bit like Paper Mario. It takes a second to get used to, but it adds to the uniqueness of the game I think.

Keep the feedback coming!

I'm guessing (And hoping) you'll be making a new windowskin, since the default doesn't really match :

Of course!

It looks sweet, just make sure it's as fun to play as it looks or it will all be a waste.

Of course! The game has a project thread if you want to check it out. The custom battle system is pretty cool and the story is different and fun.
