Meeting Leon ...although I accidently named him Jesse and didn't realize it until after taking this screenshot.

A plethora of skills ...inspired by DQ8; passive skills that take effect when certain weapon types are equipped (made by mixing KGC_PassiveSkills and KGC_ReproduceFunctions; actually, I only had to add one line!).

EXPLANATION: The entire game takes place on various world maps. You have (x) days on each world, and each day allows five Actions. The goal is to beat that world's boss, earning you an extra Action/day until you have to move on to the next world. Actions can be used to research enemies, spend time at the pub, fight, mine, spend time in a an arena... anything I think up, really. =D

And I don't like you're sunbeams, it's not really realistic.

Neither are midget chibi characters with spiky hair and extravagant clothes fighting slime monsters with swords and magica, but we seem to accept those. :P

I myself don't mind a bit of stylization when it comes to atmosphere. It's a bit silly trying to make the RTP (or RTP-esque) graphics look realistic.

Hehe,, you're right, but you know what I mean.

I agree with thios on the sunbeams.

@Lunar: Nice style, but that fog is a WAY too high contrast. Lower the opacity, to this: (same fog)

@Trix at the top of this post: The non-RTP trees have a too high contrast, which makes them stick out. Lower the contrast or darken the highlights.

Wow you actually like the tileset?
It started as a serious tileset but it ended out pretty badly...
=O I thought I would have gotten harsh critism.

I have decided to make custom tilesets, characters...and well...everything.
Thanks for your feedback.
I will be redoing some of this, especially the flower, the shadows, and the water.
The game is suppose to be a little cartoony --- but not so cartoony it looks like microsoft paint world.

Still a few errors..
I will be working on this =]

Hope you stick to it man, it's always nice to see people working on their own graphics.

That brown object on the ground, is that supposed to be a rock or a stump? Also the tree shadow is a bit too extreme.

I decided that cartoony wasn't the best thing.
It was too unrealistic and not many people would want to play it.
So I started over:

Lunar, I would stick with your old style. Who the fuck wouldn't want to play a cartoony style game? Thats some goddamn woman logic right there. Stick with your old style, improve it a bit, and you will get way more hits than with your new style.

LunarEclipse, you're going to get a lot more help and much better critique if you post your tilesets in the Pixel Art section-I'm sure you'd get better, more specific advice there.

Trix: Amazing. Absolutely amazing. ALTHOUGH it appears that the light i just coming from the rocks. But thats still pretty damn amazing.

And another screenshot, map is bit empty, with almost no events cause I'm putting events after making ~10 maps ;)

I know the white horse is too bright and it badly contrasts, it's goin to be changed ;)

Yeah, I was gonna mention the horse. Apart from that, 'tis very good. It's a bit bland, try adding a bit more detail to the ground, long grass, and what have you. But yeah, good!

Some of those lights coming from the houses feel a bit too yellowy green to me, especially the light coming from the windows at the top. Tone down the saturation a bit, that'll make it seem less artificial.
