the tree's look really plastic. they haven't got enough texture in my opinion. The brick building thing in the backgrounds shading is also really dodgy and repetative, but I love the concept. I liked the old Refmap tiles. Looking forward to seeing the feature in Vengeance, though.

@Whynot: Hmm, it looks really nice. ^^ But, eh, the tree could use some kind of noise effect to make it look less plastic (like fox5 said), and I think the roots are too big. And because the leaves don't make a U shaped turn at the trunk, it doesn't look like you see the tree from the top.

The gate is animated. :3

@Wyatt: Wall looks allright (a bit plain though), but trees look like they're laying down. You should put some dark bricks in the wall every few bricks to make it look better.

@TW: Colors are strange on the gate, and so is it's shadow, but other then that its pretty awesome.

Twin Matrix: I still love that spriting style. Surprisingly, the RTP grass doesn't look out of place there at all. Only thing I can say is that the gate and the poles look blurry compared to the rest of the map. Still looks great though. (the blue tree in the lower right looks a little weird compared to the rest though)

MAN I really wish I could pixel.

@Mukanshin: Oeh, what's wrong about the shadow? I fixed it up a bit, but I don't know what else to do.

The colors do look a bit, weird, ahah. But I think it has a nice "Dreamworld" feeling. But more importantly, it's the Gate of Seasons and each color is a season. (light green = spring, green = summer, brown = autumn, grey = winter)

@Dadev: Fix'd the blurriness. Good point. I agree the tree looks weird, but not anymore when you see the tree trunk with it, imo. ^^

Thanks!

Better now?

I think Mukanshin meant that the shadows looked a little weird and kind of threw off the perspective, especially underneath the gate. IMO it'd be better just to remove those shadows completely.

@TM: Do the colors on the gate move throughout the gate or is the gate always that color? It'd look better if the color was animated. (don't know a better way to say what I said). And the shadow just looks strange... It's as if the sun is directly on top of the gate, and just a tad bit on the left. Maybe removing it completely would end up the best way to make it.

I haven't posted in a screenshot topic here for a while, so I figured I'd post a PB screen. Still working on it, got a fair amount made but not done yet.

Thank you for your replies, I've read them all and worked on it.

Now no one can sneak past. ^^

@Muka: No, I have no clue how I would animate the colors. S_S But it sounds really cool.~ If you had some kind of idea in your head please do share on how to animate the colors. :3

@Avadan: Hmm you're right. @.x

@Oceans: DId you sprite those? If so, good job!! Absolutely GORGEOUS. ^^

I want to eat your overlay picture. It's so pretty~~ >< How'd you do it? Photoshop brush?

BTW the water at the top-right right below the dead tree is cut off strangely. Also it seems a bit weird to have a dead tree next to a lake?

But other than that really nice <3

I didn't make it. I got it from a friend a long time ago. It's a sun-beam overlay though.

And yeah, the dead tree looked a bit off, so I changed it to a ordinary tree. Thx for the comment^^

@TM: Animating the colors sounds pretty simple if this is a charset and not a tileset. Just make 3 different sprites with alternate colors, make the movement of the gate 'custom' and make it change sprite every so-so seconds and repeat. Let me know if that works and how nice it looks. ^_^ (Oh yeah, if you want a smoother animation you can make 12 sprites or something where the color is going up or down, whichever you choose)
