The map is not done yet though..

Okay, random Visual Novel style project... It's based on "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya" which is an (AWESOME) anime by Kyoto Animations... :D Meeting with Haruhi at the beginning of the game~

The_Shadow: Looks good! The only thing I would suggest is either brightening the house's walls or darkening the windows. This is because the windows really stick out from the wall and not in a good way. They don't seem to be attached to the walls. Decrease the contast and it'll look 100% better.

They look like they're not attached to the house because they're overlapping the black framing. You could also try adding a little bit of shadow underneath to help with that problem.

Suzumiya Haruhi is not only an awesome anime (which I hope you realize was NOT broadcasted in chronological order) but also an awesome light novel. Many translations of the novel are available (do not be dissuaded by the list, that's the English page). Where is Haruhi, and why is her name unknown? And what's your intent with the project: to mimic the actual story, or a fanfiction?

And is there some reason for writing the thing in romaji?! Reading Japanese text is way easier if it's written properly in kana and kanji. If you don't know enough Japanese to write in it, then why not just make the whole game in English (or whatever language you know well enough)?

I changed the windows a bit now.

Your outdoor mapping is extraordinary Shadow.

Anyway, 2 things look weird to me. One is that waterfall coming out of the cave. I don't know why, but it bugs me. The second is the way the larger tree trunks are colored. It looks like they lose some shading or something from them. Maybe its just the color style you gave to all of them, but it makes it look a little monotoned.

I really like your mapping-style. But I have one question. How do you get up the upper right plateau
to the house? i don't see steps or something.

By the way:
Always trrying to improve my skills.
Here's a interior of a noble man's manor. (2nd floor)

Criticism would be great ;)

The steps are behind the big tree. You can see if you look closer.

Im glad you liked the map
I've fixed the waterfall from the cave(I moved it one tile down, so it looks better now)
Im currently working on the big trees.

Grrr, you're using the edge walls on interior edges.
Thanks for your feedback! ... But what exactly do you mean by that? ^^

Ah! Ok, NOW I can see it.
Well, I hope there won't be something very important in that house,
some other players could have my problem with finding the way up there

Nice interior map, too!
I suggest it's an inn, right?
There's almost nothing which I could criticize.
I've one question though: For what do you need a curtain in the kitchen and the chimney?
I think I can see an oven there so you don't need an additional fireplace. Maybe add a window instead.
And you maybe should change one or two of the white flowers. There are a lot and everytime
the same kind. Looks a bit much imo.

But as I said, that's nothing more than pennies.

Nice mapping ;)

By interior edges on the walls, I mean that it looks like this:
Code:
| |L_l| |
|  ||  ||  |
|  ||  ||  |
    | |
When it should look like this:
Code:
| L_l |
| | | |
| | | |
    | |

Awesome Bro

It also looks like the cut-ins for the doors on the upper floor are part of the lower floor (the one on the left hand side). If the player doesn't see the staircase on their left they'll have no clue what floor they're on.

I can point this out with an image if you want?

This is my redraw of the menu system. It still has the VX blur background map feature, just the test location is black currently. Above P I will be adding something, originally it would have been an ingame clock for the day and night cycles i made but that idea has since been removed. Might put in a score count or something.

This is my complete animated title with music, the WIP was on pages 29 and before I think.

Xilef, all I can recommend is changing your windowskin.
Okay, I've had that suggestion loads of times so I guess it's time to start figuring something out.
After all, windowskins are my strong point :smoke:

Specifically what is wrong with it?
