I hate you Diego! :'( Bwaaaaaaaa~~~ Now people have to wait for the next five pages before they can get back to other people's screenshot.

@Erichermit
I think there are too many objects scattered around all over the place and that makes the map look messy :(

And Despain you just got yourself one Hello Panda T-shirt :P

@Diegoale:
Nice work, and I think the switch is a good call. I've been browsing that engine's site, and looks like it's pretty efficient. Must be hell of a waste for the old resources and whatnot, though.

@Eric:
I actually really like that concept; it's pretty creative, and definitely adds an appropriate touch to its intended setting. Some might have things against the fog, though - I think putting it on add or sub might give a better feel, although I'm not sure. I do agree with hima on that there seems to be many tiny-scatters around, but then again it may look odd without them on a panorama-floored map. Tough call.

Well I thought about what you guys said and decided to cluster the one space items to the sides and put the multispace items in the middle. I did put one single-space crystal in the middle area but it felt too empty without anything, at least to me.

I know the difference is subtle but I'm hoping the problem has been addressed, what do you think, Hima (or others reading)?

@Erichermit
  It's better. Though, now  I think the problem is the wall. It looks too stand out from the floor :(  I'd try to add some of the floor color on the bottom of the wall if I were you. Or maybe just change the panorama bg color?

Xk8; That's still awesome. Ah, Rondo of Swords... x3  I think that looks really sweet... =O

Eric; I think it's that your not using a floor. Right?  Well, if you have any experience with photoshop, you could always take the bruch tool with a low opacity setting, and change the opacity of the bottom of the walls to make it blend a little better. Jus' a suggestion! ^^

Hima; You roxors my RPGMboxors. xD sorry, i still lovelovelove your work. And... I'm reeeeeally tired... >.>

It seems like there's a little bit of anti-aliasing on the top of her head Xk8. I also think the text would look better if it were centered between the character and the edge of the screen.

Two mock-up screenshots here of systems I'm gonna start making soon.

I need some C&C beforehand though.

First of all we have the Party Select screen.

Party Select Screen

You can change three members of your party. Your party can only ever contain four heroes (heroes as in... they are the ones saving the world :)); one of these being yourself, who cannot leave the party. You can then have up to four additional characters in quests and such. Because the hero him/herself cannot change (i.e. you) I thought it would be pointless to include them in the selection screen. Plus, it saves on making however many facesets for all the different visual equipment styles :).

You click the top images to remove someone from your party roster; click the bottom images to add someone you your party roster.

You can do all this in the middle of a battle, sort of... A bit like FFX. But, you have to wait a few seconds since attacking / being attacked. So you can't switch someone out in the middle of damage being dealt, for example.

Note: I know Aria and Sara share the same face; I need to change Aria's face. Faces are REFMAP.

Spellbook Scene

The spellbook allows you to choose the six spells you wish to take with you on your adventures. This is for the ABS. You can select six spells, in a scrolling selectable window. These are shown in the roster window above, along with the names.

Teleportation spells are used like items, so are not shown here.

Please do not C&C the maps, they are old, I used old screenies as the basis for the mock-up. :p

@Verdini: You're a genius. Have an internet kickass point. Thanks a ton, that's a great idea. Here I was going to go and try to color the bottoms of the walls blue.

@Wyatt: The interfaces look pretty good to me. I can't really make any recommendations. Well, I have one. It seems to me that I can't tell the name of who's in my current party. I may, of course, simply be not looking carefully enough to see it, but if I would have any trouble finding it it probably should be a little more obvious. I would suggest putting the name right under their face like you did with the "pool" of characters to choose from. You might need to stretch the top window a little to fit this by the way.

Metal Crafting Minigame and Interface! Metal Crafting is done by first extracting ores from the nearby Bronzed Mine of Rolam. After doing a sidequest where help out the forger acquire a Scorpion Egg, you will be allowed to utilize his furnace to refine the ore. You can obtain either Bronze Alloy Ore or Iron Ore. (I know there is not such a thing as naturally occurring Bronze Ore. That is why I have named it Bronze Alloy Ore, and as this is a fantasy game, I have decided to allow the alloy to naturally form in this mine. If you have a problem.. bite me?) Bronze Alloy is much more common. The refining minigame requires you to run around a furnace switching on levers which unswitch themselves every so often to keep the gas flowing to make sure the heat stays at optimal temperature. Don't let your ore be ruined!

I am aware mapping is left bland in the ore refining room. If I stuck a bunch of objects in there, it'd be impossible to reach the other levers in time.

http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/1892 ... cesdg1.png[/img]

You can take these bars to the Anvil near the miner who you helped in the sidequest to craft into weapons and armor. the [number] states how many bars of refined ore are necessary for each piece.  The left and right keys switch between Bronze and Iron smithing. While smithing Bronze, the list of Iron items darkens. While smithing Iron, the list of bronze items darkens.

All of this is Event-based by the way.

the pipes and the levers dont mesh at all. i think it would be easiest to edit the pipe to work with the lever. i might have an idea, instead of bland mapping, why dont you create a small mini-maze with pipes, and place the levers in stratigic locations around the maze? that solves your bland mapping and non meshing stuff.

PS. id at least recolor the levers.

I'm actually rather happy with the way the game is set up atm because.. honestly, why make your furnace room a giant maze of pipes? It's more feasible to make the pipes easy to access. I've tested this out and It's quite fun, in my opinion, and I wouldn't like to change it atm. The mapping really isn't a big deal in a minigame room here tbh. However, I am thankful for your comment and do agree the room is a bit more bland than it needs to be.

However, I did just get an idea. I could improve the looks by adding a smoggy fog thing that appears after a while to simulate smoke from the machine, and I could add bits of soot and tar on the floor. I'll need to find some chips for bits of soot and tar but Im sure I can find it. Just little odds and ends to make the floor more varied really, but I need to make sure theyre odds and ends you can at least stand on.

You do bring up a very good point about the levers. They seem quite out of place. Recoloring them to be the same color as the pipes is a splendid idea.

Any idea where I can get chips of like.. little bits of dirt, soot, and the sort?

fox5,
It looks pretty good right now, but I see a few things you could improve upon. First your water autotile seems to be meant for a different colour of grass. Your path also looks awkward when it's cut off by the soil, and the door-frame. The grass also looks off when it's cut off by the dirt under the shed.

@Gustave: Looks good, but you're overusing vines and ground plants. The plants in the water look cluttered and extremely out of place. And where the waterfall comes out of the cliff, the hole doesn't look that great.

@fox5: You have a few leaf-plant things on the ground right next to each other, try to vary them a bit. You could also add a bit of variation in the cliffs, but otherwise it looks pretty good.

The Wood Crafting minigame. To do this you must perform a short miniquest for the town fletcher. You will then be allowed to cut lumber in the nearby forest, but be careful! If the forest guardians catch you in their forest, you'll have some trouble on your hands!

You can take logs to the town fletcher to exchange for Fletching Credits, which can later be used to purchase bows from him. Credits are better to have than logs in your inventory, as the Forest Guardians will take their wood back if they catch you and you're carrying logs.

Here is the event based interface for choosing what you would like to exchange your credits for. It's a bit more decorated than the metal crafting interface. I was given a little more room to decorate because there were less items to make.
