Hmm pm me the tileset or that section and I should be able to fix it up so it travels on an angle.

Also that thing is elevated way too much. Sorry but I could see a vast amount of difficulty climbing up it's steepness!

As for the swamp, for some reason all the monsters just waltsing around turns me off. Not sure why. Might have something to do with the fact that I've seen so many swamps that look similar to this. Then again custom swamps aren't very common, but even one thing unique would make it look nice.
Also that broken piller has the vine cut off really suddenly! Try creating the broken piller tile with some vine on it for the purpose of that use!

Using the same texture really throws off the perspective.

Do you mean for the bridge? Bridges are often the same material as the road, and besides, I can clearly tell it is an elevated bridge.

Yeah, I understand that. The pattern should change though, because you'd be seeing it at a different perspective.

To make things even clearer though it's been said more or less a bunch of times:
The bricks themselves on the elevated parts of the bridge should be diagonal, like the rails are. The bricks are straight for the same reasons the rails are, and when the rails go to an angle, the bricks should as well because they're also effected by the slant. Having the inlaid bricks stay straight throws off the perspective because it makes them look like they're unaffected by being on a slanted surface.

Hopefully that makes things clearer.

screenies of a game I am making on the side, with tilesets I am making on the side. I am going for a more alien type look than my previous tilesets, yet retain that XPRTP look, or at least let it blend with my previous tilesets.

And my attempt at trying for backgrounds.

So... any improvement suggestions? And yea - yea - yea... It's all RTP... I've heard that one a zillion times... anything other than that will be usefull.

Thanks ~Mustardy85

The Silverville Forest has way too many repetitive trees. Also, space some closer together, they all seem the exact same distance apart. You also have a bunch of little flowers or grass things on the ground all in a row, don't put them right next to each other.

The Mines and Virgo Forest look a lot better. But you have a LOT of roots in the Virgo Forest, and the overhead tree tileset looks too straight in the last screenshot. Also, the orange-brown tree stands out too much. Otherwise, it looks pretty good.

Ehh? Lantern glow is still being worked on to get a better fade, btw.

That looks pretty good Wyatt, but how is that tree growing through rock? Maybe you could do a little edit of the roots pushing their way through.

Your screen is decent Regi, although I don't like how you can see the top of the crystal outside of the circle.

Lots of online games coming out, makes me wanna make one... Wyatt maybe you should stick some random rocks or pits in the lava to get rid of the emptiness, and I agree with sonata that a tree would'nt be their. But I like the layout of the system though, With the red and blue bars I would color it alittle bit differently to make it look nice.

@Wyatt; Very nice screens as always. And the tree COULD be there, if the eruption was somewhat recent, but it'd be more ashen and burnt. OR if the eruption was really recent, it could be engulfed in flames...just some ideas.

Another screenie of me trying for background. This is a "starburst" (anyone recognize the terminology? ~_^) event. It took me awhile to make the pictures "move" like starlines to give the idea of a ship changing from orbiting to moving, upon player's selection.

Thanks, Silverville was actually one of my first RMXP maps that I had created in an older project...(which I quit) but came back to it and copied all parts of the forest. I always thought it looked really neat and clean, but thanks for the input ill change it. As for Virgo and the Mines, I plan on keeping the same. Especially all those roots on the ground in Virgo, it makes it have a messy look. My refference picture was this one when I started mapping Virgo Forest :

BTW, I like the way you created that mining map. I like that shade of turqois.(is that how you spell it?)

Mmm..starburst..strawberry is the best. Anyway, it looks really good; you should do 2d graphics for professional games.

I totally forgot about the candy! and yea, straberry IS the best.
It was named for the menthod of space travel for a sci fi show called FARSCAPE. I'm prob. the only person who know what that is...>.<
Thanks for the comment, I still have a far way to go to get professional.

@SP: Very artistic, the stars look pretty cool. Did you draw everything yourself?

@Wyatt: Nice map. I agree with the others, though, the tree probably should be more burnt (if still there). And I'm not sure if ivy could grow on the cannon...

@Sonata: The crystal actually gives off its own light, which is why you can see it out of the circle. If it looks too odd, though, I can take it out.

@Mustardy: Yeah, the roots are fine, as long as there's enough variety. Thanks, I like your reddish color tone for your mine too.
