Using the same texture really throws off the perspective.
Do you mean for the bridge? Bridges are often the same material as the road, and besides, I can clearly tell it is an elevated bridge.

The Mines and Virgo Forest look a lot better. But you have a LOT of roots in the Virgo Forest, and the overhead tree tileset looks too straight in the last screenshot. Also, the orange-brown tree stands out too much. Otherwise, it looks pretty good.

Another screenie of me trying for background. This is a "starburst" (anyone recognize the terminology? ~_^) event. It took me awhile to make the pictures "move" like starlines to give the idea of a ship changing from orbiting to moving, upon player's selection.
