The Screenshot Thread

Hrmm.. There's something about it that seems off to me. I can't quite put my finger on it though. Just doesn't feel like a hill (If that's what you're aiming for) but then again, that's not easy to achieve with RMXP.

Other than that, it's really great, good work. ;)

Looks good. But make sure you have tiles so that it can be extended further outwards. If the hill is any taller than it currently is, those rocks would need to extend further. I think about 1/2 a tile horizontally for each tile vertically.

XcuMaSoft, as the name of the thread implies, this thread is for screenshots. If you want feedback on a resource, post it in Resource Analysis, please.

Also. You may want to heed your own advice ;) I realize yours are presented in screenshot format but it is still a resource in development.

I liked the other one ccoa..but that one definately looks more...3dish..or hillish..or whatever you call it..hehe =)

Err and to clarify I didnt mean I liked the first better..I just meant I never disliked it to begin with :)

I think she was trying to make a cliff, but one that wasn't a directly vertical drop. This one looks like it's more naturally eroded.

There's plenty of precedent for using this thread to showcase tilesets in development, starting waaay back on .net with Showkaizer, so long as they're presented as a screenshot. Why would that suddenly change now?

Already done, but thanks.

For dark, spooky forests, I overlay a picture with a white-black gradient circle in it, which I overly at about 230-245 opacity, which has the nifty effect of causing the players vision to completely drop off.

Of course, this, combined with a panning negative fog, makes the scene quite forboding.

(When you are moving, it makes the details obscured outside the circle a little more evident, which makes it easier to tell where you are going. Of course, the whole point of this area in our game is to get you lost and confused.)

Arc, nice effect, but wouldnt it be possible for the player to move to like the edge of the map or something, thus having the light not centered on the player?

You have to design the map so it has an invisible border, at least thats what i do, so if you want to make a 25 x 25 map you need a map size of about 40 x 40, perhaps less I cant remember. It's super easy for interiors, and for exteriors just add cliffs or dense trees.

Nice screen ccoa^_^ Bet i'll look great when it's shaded.

And again thanks calibre. Here's what i did a few minutes ago, i managed to recolour the autotiles to match with the tileset! It came out quite well actually:)

What do ya think, still looks dark yet not to hard to see where you're going.

Arcthemonkey. Nice! it's a very neat idea, i love how it's presented^_^.

Oh, and i edited Arshes, i mean Aluxes to have a more dark appearence so he goes into the scene well. I wont be using him for much longer though. I'll be going for a thin tall character template for the characters. Don't know which one yet....

Hold the ALT key, as you tap the print screen/prtscrn button once.
This copies the current frame. by holding alt, it only captures the current window aswell, effectively removing the tool bar at the bottom.
Open paint, hold CTRL, press V, and there you go.
Upload it to an image host and you've got a screenshot.

(yes, i'm lurking this thread :D )

Bad Ramiro, no trolling please.

The maps looks really nice, but the only thing I'd advise you to change are the yellow and white flowers. They stand out too much, it loses a bit of the atmosphere. But nevertheless, it's a nice map.
