Bare bones beginnings of a tribe's camp... I'm planning on adding NPCs, torches, musical instruments, food, and some other things later:

And ignore the bit of cliff right behind the tent there; it's not quite finished yet. I'm kinda thinking the perspective on the tent looks a little wonky, but I can't place it. Maybe I should just redo it with the same perspective as the RTP tent, but I'm not sure.

Wheee.~

Should I stick to the Geredr. Advanced template or switch to HK?

Pros for switching to HK:
- Higher quality charsets and more details
- Easier emotions/expressions on the charsets
- Several other templates already made (child, female, fat, etc.)
Cons for switching to HK:
- Have to remake half the tilesets and make them larger to fit HK.
- Takes a lot more time to make the charsets.

Pros for sticking with Geredr. Advanced:
- Good looking charset without requiring too much spriting.
- Good medium size.
- Don't have to redo the tilesets to fit the charset size.
Cons for sticking with Geredr. Advanced:
- Have to make my own child/female/fat templates and I SUCK at spriting templates. -.-;
- Less details for expressions/emotions.

@malick: yeah, but if I posted it to receive comments and no one comments...

@Twin Matrix: do you think so? I made it on purpose, to give an idea of slight disorder...but meh.
Instead, your maps...very good, but I think that you should remove that outlines, or outline all. So it seems a little messy.

Kaze950: you need to do something about the trees, there much too oversaturated, and if they were meant to give light, then their shadow doesn't make any sense. That bottom cliff of yours could also be more random.

Divine Engage: The fog makes it a bit hard to see, but that patch of grass on the left looks cut off. You may have also placed a bit too many white flowers in the same area, and the stones at the left part of the screen look a bit too lined up.

Twin-Matrix: Have you tried to dim the outlines of the trees a bit? They could look even better than they do now if done well, if I had to guess.

Arcanum: the perspective indeed is a little wonky, and I indeed suggest to use the same perspective as the RTP-tent. I don't think it'll be a good idea to try and implement that kind of perspective for RMXP, because without animation, it'll just look bad. Also, is it true that the grass autotile you made still misses its inner corners? Apart from that, though, it's an awesome tileset. :)

Thanks Psgels, ive added more fog since then so i'll try and comprimise on it.

Right then time to put some fertiliser on those plants heh heh.XD

EDIT* Updated my screen (removed some flowers and such! Dumbed down the fog slightly

EDIT2* Updated again, i managed to get the autotiles to mesh well, you may notice though that they are parts where it does'nt mesh. I've made the actual fig picture more darker to add to the scare factor.

( I forgot to mention that the fog actually does move in the game, i finally found out yesterday that you could make it move)

I should of mentioned before that this is for a horor game so the fogs kinda there to make the place look isolated.
I was going to burn the tileset so it'd look darker and then use the sponge tool on it but i can't carry the same pattern on the autotiles for it aswell (Sigh)

That fog looks terrible divine engage.

You really need to set it to sub and then fiddle with it. Or if you want fog overlay you need to darken the tileset and then place a moving fog over it with less opacity.

Thanks Calibre, i just tryed the sub thing it makes it look that more disturbing:)

This is what i did before i read calibre's post..

Afterwards..

And in Rmxp.. ( If you wanted to see;) )

Personally i like the second as its darker, but thats just me.:)
I like the first one aswell as it just appealed to me as i was doing it...

Again, comments are appreciated:D

Think you should fiddle with them some more..just doesn't look foggy to me..but that's just me..been outta practice with RMXP and photoshop and stuff for awhile (due to life circumstances) now so I can't suggest anything or mess with em to help..but just giving my thought.

Well at leats people can see where they are going more now, but it still needs refining. Do you have the zoom at 100% that will give your map a more textured weathered effect, and I'd turn down the opacity a bit again. If that doesnt make the map seem dark enough add a slight change to the screentone to make the wole screen darker rather than just the area the fog covers.

That doesnt look like you turned the opacity down at all, take it down quite a bit so it just adds an effect, not an overbearing presence. The tileset you showed in the editor seems dark enough anyway so just have a subtle fog. You'll know yourself when you have it right.
