The boat's shadow is too solid too. And where the house roof meets the flat room (near where the door is) there seems to be some choppy mapping. It goes down in a slope, then suddenly cuts across and makes a straight line to be right with the straight roof. It looks kinda bad. And if I don't make much sense, tell me so I can get an example. @.@

@J.D.Slasha: As Stevo said, the water looks out of place. Give it the black border as you have done with the stones and trees.

@Firestalker5: That screenshot is lovely. The atmosphere is great and the area is really well mapped.

Yeah, makes no sense, lol.

Mm, I recolored some tilesets today; if anyone could tell me if the color combo seems okay it would be much appreciated. :)

Growing up on a ship myself I know how a boat that size should look. First off it's a bit too long, and too narrow. Fix the narrowness by two spaces. Well it could also be the screen shot making it look longer.
First the bow:

1. The bow (front) needs to be sharper. At the moment it's too wide and the boat would go bow first under.
2. Move the anchor. There are always anchors at the bow of the ship (on wide vessels there's on on both sides of the bow), and one at the stern (back.)
3. Cargo should always be stored at the center of the vessel. That way it can be tied to the mast if there's ever a problem.
Second the stern:

4. The sails aren't big enough. Widen the main sail so it's always at least two squares over the ship. The rooster nest has a mapping error. The mast should be at the center of the platform not the nest at the edge. It'd fall off the way you have it.
Sorry to be so picky, but I know too much about boats.

Reives:
Looks great! The shadows are too dark on the trees though.

Emo: is it me, or didn't you make any way for the crew to get in the hold? It does remain a bit annoying if you've got so many cannons and yet you can't reach them. ;)

Reives: the shadows of the trees are a bit too much. I think you went overboard with their saturation, or something like that. I like what you did with the grass, though. Maybe, if you're intending to make the forest look dark, you should also recolor the weeds a bit.

@Firestalker5 How do you create the light around the fire?

I used a script from Near Fantasia called Lighting Effects, but you can do the same thing with fogs or pictures. The script just makes it easier to do.

Noobo: quite interesting, but.... where are the doors? ^^;

I'm also suggesting you to find yourself some kind of curved water-autotile. It's perfect if you want to add small ponds of water like you did in your map. You can also try to liven up your cliffs a bit more, by adding both autotiles and plants. They really look a bit too bare-boned right now, and they distract from the rest of the map.

I'm guessing he's got doors Psgels :p he's got the sandy paths up to were they will be.

I agree completely with Psgels on this though, you need to add some kind of life to those rocks with plants and vines or whatever.

Other wise it's looking good, and it's a good use of the dull RTP.

Yay pirate games!
I'd appreciate any Criticisms or Comments anyone has :thumb:.

Thanks,

Wow! I think it looks fantastic. Just from visuals, I can get a sense of danger, in the eye of the storm sort of thing. Great work!
