Yeah I'm going to have to agree with that, it looks a little odd around the flowers. Everything else is massively improved though.

Whoops, forgot to reshade that. That's a part of my old tileset. Will reshade with next update... ^_^;

Will add the fish, also the screen look nice ccoa, but i prefer the one with new style.

Big improvements ccoa. You got rid of the grid grass thing that was in the last screenshot you posted & I really like your dirt.

Good job with the multiple grass tiles that don't look like they repeat so much, more people should do things like that. :)

This is on my test map so that's why there are crazy characters everywhere.

All key characters will have custom message portraits. The first and third screenshot show how the portraits won't just remain static the whole time. Although this one shows just an edit of the same pose, there will be different poses for certain emotions and expressions.

(The problem with this system is that all of my character messages will have to have their windows on the bottom. :P)
 
Ellescene: Looks lovely, the girl portrait specially :) The window and font look nice too even though I don't like transparent windows :)
 
@Diegoale2000: Your game's art has such a nice quality to it; really nice, bright pallettes, and the soft shading looks excellent. How long does it take for the artist to make a small map, if you know?

@ccoa & J.D. Slasha: Great job on those custom autotiles. I've started on a custom tileset, and it took me a little while to get the grass right. But... these are both even better. :eek:

@Ellescene: Wow, beautiful portraits. I really wish I could cel-shade like that. And I like the outfit on the girl very much. (P.S.: Nice conversation in there. :P)

:p Thanks ccoa. lol. Took your advice again. Added grass 'round the roots and just for the hell of it fixed up the flower thingies. Since I'm getting sick of this same screenshot over and over again, I'll repost with a new one. Yay.

Thanks, I really want my game to stand out so customs the only way to go. It was really ccoa though who pulled through with the grass, I'm just a copy. =)

that looks awesome! I like it all barr the water border. It looks too flat and strange. You need to make a gradient that gets darker as it gets closer to the bottom. This will create an effect of the water casting a shadow forming a more realistic look and feel.

I checked your screen and you're limited to one more shade to make the gradient, which isnt very good. Try making the border one more pixel high? Then the gradient will be more like a gradient :P
 
JD, it looks very awesome indeed... a little 'flat' for my personal taste, but if you keep this syle up, it might work out very great, as it's unique and doesn't look 'cheap', as other flat sprites do... no wonder Stevo likes it :P (PS: Stevo, your tiles are good as well, don't you think I meant you with what I just said ^_^ )
Well, the background is absolutely atmosphere-killing, though... replace it. You should also work on the message arrow pointing to the character, as it'd look better if it's match the window border. Finally, you might work on the tree shadow directly to the water... and because you have some very flat space between water and ground, and apparently a spriting talent, why don't you try underwater-visible roots going from the tree? Just a suggestion, as I don't know if it fits into your style, but your ground is like predestinated for that.

Keep up the good work.
 
Lots and lots of errors.

First, the windows wouldn't be built over the dark wood beams.

Second, the window frame color is too bright.

Third, there are no corner tiles for the mountains.

Fourth, the small round bush's shadow is solid. It should be translucent?

Fifth, the stacked barrels shouldn't be casting a shadow like that.

Sixth, the chimneys?

Seventh, ladder to nowhere.

Eight, Lots of misplaced roof tiles.

Ninth, specifically, the protrusions are all wrong. There are specific tiles for making protruding roofs like that.

Tenth, Door's color doesn't match the colors on the tileset.

Seriously Malick. I expect better than that.
