The Blacksmith's Apprentice - Version 1.5 released

If that's the case I'll be somewhat pissed :P He should make 2 versions. One for people who have already played without the system, and one for the new players with the system.
 
Okay, I've just found out that the Stat Distribution system doesn't work for games started without it.  :cry: I'm trying to fix this, but in the meantime I'm going to post a fixed version without the Stat Distribution system. 

EDIT: Main post has both new versions: The first version WILL work with old saved games, the second version comes WITH the Stat Distribution system, but it will NOT work with old saved games.
 
Probably to make nice looking weather, I'd imagine.

I'm impressed by the success of this topic. From the screenshots, the mapping looks pretty sparse (especially in that shop) but it seems people have looked past that to find other strengths, which I find very encouraging. It wasn't always like that, that's for sure.

Once Arc V is done (or at least my duties on it), I'll give this a whirl.
 
Wow, I just finished the game, and wow. This is such an awesome story! =D A few things however, sometimes you had the weather inside buildings. Like leaves falling inside houses. You need to fix that. Also, in the miniquest where you save the kid from the haunted castle, When you go in the room to turn the switch, even though you turn the switch, it's like that room always goes back to normal. the torch is on, and the water is in the room and it's dark... it shouldn't be that way. It's like the teleport player thing got messed up or somethin... I dunno. But yeah...

Get out the next game ASAP! I really want to see what happens next!

I'm happy to see some updates. I'm gonna go ahead and download the new game version and play it all the way through again. Last time I skipped a great deal of the sidequests and such but this time through I'm going to be very thorough.

And I can't believe what I'm hearing with all the map hating...man.

Fair enough. But I'd have to say there's not enough in the screenshots to make a judgment either way.

I'll take a look at these.  One question, however - do you remember which houses had falling leaves?  That didn't happen during testing.  The way weather is SUPPOSED to work is that the effects turn off inside, but if it's raining you will still hear the background sound.

As for the mapping feedback - I'm definitely more satisfied with some maps than others, what do people think I can do to improve them?  Do they just need more... "stuff"?
 
I know one was in Charis' atic. or however you spell it. It was in several houses as well, OH and also, sometimes there is no weather outside, but you hear it raining in the houses, yet it's not actually raining.

I've updated the primary version to fix these problems (I think).  I've decided I'm only going to update the version with the Stat Distribution system, unless someone finds a game-killing bug in the other.  It's just too much micro-management to fix two versions otherwise.

Although even with all the major editing, I think I'll wait until the next demo/game is released before I start over. I put more than 12 hours of work into that. ;_;
 
Yeah, I guess that's a wise choice. I guess I'll do that too. So hopefully he gets the next demo, or even the rest of the game out soon.
 
Well, I've decided to do away with the Stat distribution system, partly because it doesn't add a whole lot to the game experience, but mostly because I don't want to punish the earlier players by requiring them to play the first part again in order to continue with any updates.  I've removed the version with the Stat Distribution system from the main post.

THE GOOD NEWS IS, saved games from the version WITH the Stat system WILL work if used in the version without.  I hope that makes sense.

I just need to tell you a small thing:
Instead of having the player going into the menu>>Items>>Then using the Whistle
Can you put a HotKey Button like H, For Ex:
Common Event [Parallel] [Thistle]
[Conditional Branch]: Is [Horse Whistle] in Inventory?
True= William mounts Thistle
False= Show Text "Thistle didn't come"
BTW, I only got half-an-hour of gameplay since im working on my own game.
It's great to play &learn from a game like this
