Aeros, by asking him not to change anything, your basicly saying that you dont want his game to be any better. I agree, the maps are fine as they are, but he could greatly improve them making the game a whole lot better. This isn't a diss to you, I'm just saying that he should make his game as great as he wants, and asking him not to make his game better is rude. In my opinion, that's just me. Personaly, when I make something, even once it's released I try with all my might to make it better. I hope most people would do that with their projects.
I don't want this thread to get too off-topic, but I wanted to give everyone a personal update since these forums have really started to feel like a community for me:
Yesterday afternoon I was mugged on my way home from work (broad daylight, busy street, during rush hour, 6+ witnesses. Pretty unbelievable). My laptop was stolen, along with my wallet and the USB drive I keep as a backup. Right now my only copy of this game is the encrypted version that is available for download. My most recent backup that I DO have is from August of last year. So unless there's a way to hack an encrypted version (let's keep this thread clean, please), this project is going to have to be put on hold. I do appreciate all the great feedback I've gotten so far, it really has inspired me to keep going with it. Thanks to you all, and have a happy 4th of July.

Wow, that sucks. Sometimes police track down those items in incidents like these, but more often than not...
I know that Rataime has a way to break into encrypted projects that he never released to the public. He hasn't been active for a while, but it may be worth a shot to send him a PM and see if he can help you out.

Yeah I know that several people have the ability to "unencrypt" encrypted projects...so maybe you could ask for someone who has this ability to PM you. Unfortunately this is mostly used for illegitimate reasons...but in this case obviously it could be used for good.
In the future it may be a good idea to keep your backups in a different location. Never have your current project and backup project in the same location. Anyways, that really sucks bud I'm sorry to hear that. Did they threaten you with a weapon or anything? Or just take your stuff and run off?

Hmm... maybe this'll work: Rmxp Project Cracker
It is apparently a project unencrypter that has been verified and accepted by the mods on this site. I haven't tried it personally, and the creator said that it can't unencrypt every project, but it is atleast worth a shot. See if it works.
Edit: After reading the thread and trying it on a few games, it seemed that it doesn't really work. I heard that "vgvgf" also offered to unencrpyt projects for people, so you could try pming him your encrpyted project.

Mm, I tried that and it didn't work on any projects that I tried (all were bigger than 10MB), but I suppose it doesn't hurt to try at this stage.
That's such an unfortunate turn of events. It's best to back up things virtually/online too to avoid things like this, which is probably the most secure form given it's a reliable host.
Anyhow, sorry to hear that it happened. Good luck, hopefully they'll be able to track it down somehow. I suppose the silver lining would be that you can now take a break and chill some, heh. You've surely learnt a lot about making games via RM through putting together this demo, so if now you start over again someday, it would surely be a lot more solid. c:

First, the mugging: The police haven't found anything yet, no suspects, no recovered items. It's apparently not a good idea to get robbed just before a national holiday. Someone asked if they had weapons... I don't actually know. I didn't see any weapons, but that's mostly because the two guys jumped me from behind and put me in a choke hold, and took my laptop while I was struggling for air.
Second, the project: If someone has been able to de-crypt everything except the actor data, that's great, I can always replace that much. Even if someone is uncomfortable sending me the MEANS to decrypt the files, they could always send me the decrypted version of the game. I'll take anything I can get.

I feel so bad for you. :down: That majorly sucks. Yeah, someone did make a program called Pandora's Box. However, I'm not sure about the reliability of it...we'll just have to be optimistic, won't we?\

It is infact, not loading any data, (we are talking about RMXP Project Cracker, right?) but only the rxproj file, which is only a shortcut to any data. The first thing RMXP looks for is actor data, and when that isn't there, it won't look any further and simply crashes. I'm hoping vgvgf would help by unencrypting the project, but if he feels that he'd rather not, I'll give a try at searching the net for alternative methods.
Or we could just let the police give it a shot. :tongue:

this game is so great so far! i haven't finished the demo yet, but i'm looking forward to when its finished!
i was wondering if maybe someone could help me out too? i'm in the haunted ruins where you rescue that little boy, i was able to rescue him and i lit all the torches on all the levels except the 3rd. i cant seem to find the last torch to light it.
also, te room where you turn that switch to drain the water, even after i drain it, there is still water in there and it still says that i need drain the water. did i miss something? i'm probably missing something obvious, but i would appreciate it if someone could help me! Thanks!!
