RPG Breeze (Cancelled)

yeah, I guess that's true. Fortunately I still have the Photoshop layers wewt!

The actual sign itself is 60x60 from the top board down. The post and rings are actually only 30x60, so half-height on the tile above it.

I can keep the weapons, signs, and rings all on different layers.

EDIT: after going through some numbers, the 30x60 character template doesn't make sense. Why not do 60x120, as 30x60 basically makes the character half a tile wide by 1 tile tall, really weird by the 60x60 tile standards...

so the character sprites are going to be smaller than XP's? That seems kinda lame considering the power of this program. I definitely would love to see a 60x120 sprite! that would rock for spriting...

sooooooo theory. What's happening back there in the depths of game designer-umm-ism?? We haven't heard much lately. I'm counting on that release this month of this! Though a push-back would be expected. How are things going? How about a progress update with some screenshots? Or maybe just a slap in the face telling me to shutup and be patient??

You've got to realize that Theory has put this on the fast track. He's developing this program faster than most sane developers would dare. Not to mention that, at this point, it is mostly Theory's job, so he doesn't have much time to update, or do much of anything.

well, I'm still up for the tileset if he wants. The top-down tileset is done as far as I'm concerned, but I would like to work on a basic RTP set for RPG:A. I just need to hear from Theory...

hint...hint...hint... :box:

OK Theory, here's what a demo of a 60x60 tileset would look like:

I drew these from scratch in photoshop so that they can be broken down into 60 pixel squares

I have only found this because I didn't know what it was, but I see you are trying to challenge RMXP ^ ^

Perhaps I shall put a few ideas forward...

3D games? Or the ability to choose between creating 2D and 3D games. Computers are becoming more advanced, and surely, something to create games in 3D should be created. Something like what RPG Maker 3 was on the PS2.

Few questions, and a few suggestions.

QUESTIONS:
-Will you be releasing a demo for anybody other than your helpers? Like a trial period, or a limited-feature demo?
-Will there actually be any screenshots soon? Apparently they've been updating since Demeber.
-Will upgrades and updates be free?
-This 'marketplace' thing... Will the things on that be free? Marketplace implies shops, shops imply money.
-Do you have a list of event commands (or whatever you're calling them) so that we can see awesome features?

SUGGESTIONS:
-In answer to a first-page question, yes, I'd like to see racial variety.
-Perhaps a built-in character generator similar to CMXP (sections off certain pixels to use as different clothing sections, etc.), and works on all built-in characters and imported ones of normal size (not dragons and the like)
-For an event command similar to "move route", have it pop up a map such as it does for the "Transfer Player" command in RMXP, and 'draw' your route. It always bugs me when I'm trying to make a move route, and then I realize I don't know where I'm going.

I will probably give more suggestions later... I'm not trying too hard right now

well, if Theory wants to put in a 3D upgrade type thing then I can do 3d models =)

IMHO 3d models are WAY easier than pixelart...

For 3D, he'd basically have to make a whole new system... Right? Not only that, the filesize would go from a probable big to a definite huge.

More people can do pixel art than 3D models, Rico. Much of that is attributed to the fact that there are more free pixel art programs than 3D modeling programs that are usable and worth using.

You could easily "aqquire" 3D modelling programs, but am i the only one that is satisfied with 2D? Also the characters need to be 60x120, else it looks strange.

That's the whole character sheet, right? Not just one frame? Because I'm just trying to imagine an actual 60x120 character

well, I actually made a 60x120 character, ripped it from another game and scaled it up. It looks REALLY cool at that size! I think if this ever gets off the ground, it would ROCK the whole RMXP world...when I get home I'll try to post it here.

"The customer is always right."

I assume you've all heard that old little saying. That's why people who use RPG Makers will make better RPG Makers than the people who made the original RPG Makers. They know what they want. They know what other people want. It just makes it overall a much better program to take suggestions and things like that, as well as be a customer yourself before using it.

OK this is a 120 pixel high sprite:

it's not a complete walking cycle obviously, but it is the rough size of a 60x120 sprite (the sword was so big I had to make it a 120x120 square instead of the 60x120 for the character)

you can definitely see the potential in having a sprite this big, you can make some BEAUTIFUL sprites this way...I'm gonna try an actual character sheet at 60x120, just for fun...
