I should edit it now huh! That was one chapter ending I wasn't expecting. I thought it was going to be the theif. Which leads me to some questions. Was Serai stuck in that form and how did she learn to take form of animals so quickly as well as escape in the duration of a day. (after all Reives sees her the night before and then she's gone. Obviously she was the "rough wolf" that the gaurds were talking about.

Secondly when ummm darn what's her name ummm Petal dies I was wondering how Lunair was still going to have the virus. Serai was a plot twist I didn't expect!
By the way that wasn't meant to be a question it was a statement. I was stating how sweet your storylines and that are!

One thing though. I hell enjoyed the carnival but could you not set a time limit for it. You no so that when ever you leave is when the story resumes. I wanted to see if I could get 95% at the hammer games! (I kept getting above 80% for both)

I did notice the water spirit/elemental but I was expecting to see another future glimps or another one of Reives: "I felt like I've been here before" sort of things.
Though this could came along in the next chapters which I'm looking forward too!

So far I rate your Demo 9/10! If it wasn't because of the few passibility errors and the fact you use other peoples resources, (sorry I'm intocommercial games at the moment so I'm not a fan of using anybody elses resources) it would be pretty damn close to 10/10!

I didn't even mind the first two chapters as after all they are mood setters. Plus I've played through SMT: LC's intro scene which goes for about an hour.

This game is inspiring! :thumb:

The game is technically still a demo since it isn't completed yet.

Dungeon type thing, the ruins in Chapter 3 I believe.

There has actually been quite a few hints in Chapter 6 about the turnout, especially the conversation between Rayne and Dirk at one point. c:

About the carnival; aye, that's true, I should have. I think what I will do in my future revamp for it, is to give the player the option of stepping out of the gate to leave after that conversation trigger. That way, it'll simply give the player a heads up and lets them choose when to leave.

I've been working on a mix of Chapter 9 progress and revamping the intro lately. However, it seems that the recent time constraint would not permit me to spare the time to do the full picture-animation revamp that I hoped for for the intro, so instead I am simply trying to do some improvements as well as resynching them to the newer versions of the songs. (To Realize performed by Adam Mussell/Arcanum, and Drift performed by Laura Shigihara/miss matcha. Hats off to them~ c: )

Expect a little release of the improved intro/ending music videos soon!

I still think the haunted house should be made optional. ;_;
I just know something's going to jump out at me if I play it, like a zombie girl or somethin'. Heck, I'm scared of E.T., you'd have to admit that I'm a wuss.
Back on Topic: That screenshot for the music video looks awesome, Reives! I'm still not sure how the feather relates to the game, but that'll probably be revealed later. Looks like Chapter 9 is going to be the best one yet! :smile:
 
Mm, I suppose it wouldn't hurt to do so. Originally I planned to have a choice of bailing with an item at any time, but later dismissed the idea due to being lazy. :p Really, though, if you are scared by it, the scare comes more or less purely from imagination. It's Quintessence - nothing truly scary's going to happen.  :smile:

I have finished compiling the newest version of the opening and ending music sequences, and will put it out here tomorrow.

It features the newer and much better versions of the opening and ending themes, To Realize and Drift performed by Adam [Arcanum] Mussel and Laura [miss matcha] Shigihara respectfully - much appreciation goes to them. c: Also, while not the complete picture revamp originally planned, there has been some improvements and additions in the visual sequences that should add a much better touch than the previous versions.

Well at least you now know that it's a joke. :p Turn off the sound, there's nothing to be afraid of then. Nothing's real.

Hmm. I'd really like to see the intro and ending.
But...when I click the .exe it tells me the extract failed, and if I try to load the game it says a windowskin is missing since the extracting didnt finish.
I'll try re-downloading to see if it works...
 
Nice work, Reives! Although it wasn't the "full-blown picture pseudo-animation" I was expected, it was still a major improvement from the original.

Just a few small things I've spotted, I think there's a dot somewhere in the intro when Lunair turns into a white tiger (where the text says "Performances by"). Also, at the very end of the ending, there's a barely noticeable change when the black birds flying up in the sky suddenly change to smaller sprites.

Anyway, though, it was a nice touch-up. Can't wait for chapter 9, keep it up!
 
Thanks, and aye, I do still have plans for full-blown picture pseudo-animations in the future, when I get used to drawing with the tablet and have time to spare.  :smile: ( Getting a tablet didn't give me a sudden magical burst of drawing skills! I want my money back >:/ ) Sorry for the let-down, time constraint has been a bit severe recently, so I thought it might be best to put the decorative plans aside for a bit. c:

And ah, thanks for the report; I'll check for that dot. The bird is a problem as well, although I kind of got lazy and just pulled the bird sprite from resources and just slapped it on, heheh. Certainly something I should fix in the future to make it smoother.

There has been some changes and improvements from the past, but far from the originally planned complete revamp. seriously, that was very very nice.

It did feel a bit slow at some points, and the timing could've been more dynamic imo, but I really enjoyed watching them XD They're way better now thats for sure.
 
Thanks, and thanks for the heads up! Things are pretty much segment by segment at the moment, and even the opening is rather laid back. Perhaps I can spice it up in the future with more action-oriented sequences. c:

It's based on the pop chord progression, although I did redeem myself a bit with something fresher in the B section out of the ABA-ABA format.

The first half of the song is more or less a flute / harp duo, and the orchestra comes in after halfway through.
 
That's one of the most catchy/beautiful pieces of RMXP songs I have ever heard. :D
I really love it, and I'm glad to see you making more and more pieces of music.

EDIT: I just watched the new ending and opening, and I love them. <3 I'm not too sure about the guitar during the snow scene because it sort of looses it's emotional feel, but it's still cool.

Bugs: Arrow keys still mess up panning in camp scene. Probably snow scene too still.

BTW, what's with the weird album art on the two tracks, they don't seem to be for the game...
