yeah. IM just happy that the GST in canada went down 1%. So now its going to cost me about 5 dollars less. YAY... well thats not reall that great... il have to buy a game to... and a 2nd contoler AGH. And im asuming the Contoler will be 50-60 bucks and the game 74.99... so with tax around 884.79. I kinda miss the boomerang controller, though... the motion sensitivity would have worked much nicer than the ol' Dual Shake...

Agreed. I thought I was the only guy who loved that Batarang controller :O

Well, I originally thought it looked silly, then thought about the ergonomics of the thing- holding it from the sides rather than from the front seems like it would be more comfortable than the Mutated-SNES-Controller that the Dual Shock/Shake is. I figured they would change it, but when they announced that they changed it AND that it would be motion sensitive, I got pissed. Holding the Dual Shock is uncomfortable enough as it is, but MOVING it? Screw that. Good thing it's likely to be underused, just like the Shock's analog buttons...

According to CNET, PS3 has risen from #9 to #6 on the most wanted list.

OK.....how is it with all the negative press, the release of all these faults and bugs with the system, Kutagari's arrogant statements, Many companies not giving them AS MUCH support, high price, the "emotion Engine 2" graphics ending up being prerendered, the horrible E3 showing, and all the other bad press Sony has been getting......how is it actually gaining in popularity?

With many items, even negative publicity can be good just because it's publicity.

Also, some of the richer consumers may believe that the higher the price is, the better the quality must be.

Personally, I'm gonna stick with my PS2 until the price goes down. A lot. I might even sell my soul to Nintendo and buy a Wii instead, despite my fervent love for the PS game library.

If you want FFXIII and MGS4 on the Wii I think you're sort of missing the point, unless you mean just so you could stick with one system and still get those two games.

In my PS3 gaining popularity topic I see a bunch of "you don't like PS3 you must be a Wii fanboy!" posts. OK now I'm pretty sure this post would have gotten lost in the topic so I made a new one.

My reasons for worrying:

PS3 is not only just expensive to consumers but it has the highest development costs, thus meaning smaller companies won't be able to support it thus meaning less games and a possibility of $70 games

Blu ray may not make it. Sony is the only one supporting UMDs now and Blu Ray may end up the same. From someone who doesn't know the specs would they really be able to tell much of a difference between HDDVD and Blu Ray? No. And HDDVD is already more known because it already has the "fanbase" if you will because of DVDs and HD TV. Both items we all know about and both can be more easily be "connected" to HDDVD in a person's mind.

The patent. I know many will say false but on Attack of the Show a Sony exec admitted that the patent exists and the rumors are true. So...IF this does get into the PS3, pray it doesn't break

And just what type of upgrades are we talking? I don't wanna buy a $500 console that is going to need some $100 upgrades each time Square decides to add more cutscenes.

OK. That's it.

This is likely to get locked, you havent made any new points we havent seen in the other thread, and niether are the points that havent been replied to.

But the thing is Kojima will in all likelyhood release a version for the Wii. MGS hasnt been Sony exclusive since Twin Snakes came out for the Cube. Like I said before, it looked to me like the only games worth getting a PS3 for will in all likelyhood come out for multiple consoles, not just the PS3.

Maybe for FF13 cus its selling point is visual spectacle. Some would argue that MGS4 will be that way too, but the difference I think is that MGS's style of gameplay could be greatly enhanced by the Wii remote and that, though MGS games happen to look good, that's not their primary selling point. As I see it, unless a game's major selling point is graphics then there's no point in staying exclusive to PS3. But then, a lot of games fall under that category(which is why they have such a big catelogue).

I'm pretty damn sure sony won't be losing money on the PS3.. they aren't stupid after all. Well.. one would think.. unless their success in the past were all completely flukes.. but unlikely. I'd like if it were less in cost, I'm sure they made it as low as they could without it being a loss (I'm sure they could do "break even" but that wouldn't be good business and in our damn capitalist society....).. I'll prolly just wait for it to lower in price or something. I don't really care about games much anymore for some reason anyways

Yeah that was my point. Xbox 360 was poor in my opinion, and the range on the original was appallingly limited. The Wii just looks brilliant, but PS3, despite its drawbacks, does have two of the killer apps (and MGS4 may be THE killer app looking at it).

Don't forget that the Wii has "killer apps" that are definitely going to rival those of the PS3. The big one is Super Smash Brothers (especially now with Snake in it), and of course Zelda. There are also games like Red Steel that might not necessarily bring in lots of people, will pull in people who like specific genres- I'm looking at you, FPS fans. The Wii's control will really pull you in.

I merged another thread with this one seeming as it was the exact same subject. VRaptor, PM me if you have any serious complaints about such.

no complaints. I just made another topic because I was afraid my reasons would get lost...and honestly, for the first few pages it was all "only Nintendo fans don't like PS3" crap.

my responce: they are losing money on each PS3 sold. it costs them over $1000 to make. They are selling it at a loss

Actually, Metal Gear Solid hasn't been Sony exclusive since MGS2 on the Xbox.

Metal Gear has never been "exclusive" to anyone system. Konami jumps to whatever system is best to support their games so I wouldn't be surprised if it finds itself on the Wii and 360.

Yeah but its still for the most part the closest thing PS2 has to a mascot so its primarily associated with that system for sure. Sony would be on their mark to throw an assload of money at him to keep MGS4 exclusive cus otherwise I dont really have a good enough TV or good enough eyesight to give a damn about the graphical differences between the next gen. I can live without PS3's dynamic eyelash rendering or whatever.
