The world's oldest person died earlier today at 117 and I find that incredible.
Misao Okawa was born closer to George Washington's presidency than the present day. She was forty-three when Pearl Harbor was attacked. When she was ten years old, the Ottoman Empire still existed.
On one hand, the notion of living that long fascinates me, as I would witness so much in the world -- see potentially massive points in human history unfold. On the other hand, it also sounds incredibly sad. At that age, I would see parents, friends, family, and pretty much everyone else I knew at this point go on before me. I would probably see my own children die as well. I think at a certain point, I would welcome a peaceful end to my life.
