Ash fucking cheats period.
He's a black hole where the rules of the universe don't apply. He never learns a God damned thing, and no one ever calls him out on his shit.
He takes down a motherfucking RHYDON with an electric attack, and everybody thinks it's cool that he just broke physics.
BROCK, a registered and well known GYM LEADER, fucking yells out what he should do during the Indigo Plateau, and Ash isn't disqualified for having a blatant outside source run his match for him. This asshole goes on to become an established champion in like, two regions, but still doesn't understand basic type advantages, and continues to disown every strong Pokemon he has just because.

also i never really watched pokemon but could the entire adventure be in ash's head? so he would be the god in that case, hence why no one calls him out on his bullshit
Ash got into a massive wreck prior to moving. He is now in a 30 year coma, at which year 1 his father died. He never knew his dad. There had been a war, and during this time his father had killed over 130 types of pokemon, as well as the people.
In ashes coma, he fights to remember his past, but all that haunts him is a pikachu, which happened to be crossing in front of the moving truck, causing the accident.

Make sure you aren't creating any new objects each frame (this is incredibly important). Minecraft makes this fatal mistake (Vertex allocations made each frame, only to be used for the frame it's made for and then discarded...) so with high frame-rates the memory can build up very, very rapidly (300 MB/s sounds about right).
Ah I fixed it - You nailed it actually.
I forgot that I hacked in scaling by recreating the vertexes each frame.
Now I update them each frame instead, which works a bit better. Still sitting on about 300MB total memory with 6 of one object and 8 separate objects.

After several failed experiments, it seems as though Corona SDK isn't powerful enough to do realtime Gaussian blur. Heck, even my computer is lagging when I run the simulator.
