Pokemon Acanthite: The GSC Prequel

The screenshot appears to be a perfect re-creation of the Pokemon battle system! This is amazing work. I'm excited to see all the new Pokemon.

This sounds awesome!! I recently picked up Pokemon FireRed for 5 bucks and I'm in love with this series again!

I can't wait to try this game too it looks just as good and professional (if not better) than the GameFreak versions! Best of luck!

well i am mostly a Mapper/Eventer. I have no knowledge of Scripting what so ever. im workin on my own pkmn game (like a lot of ppl here) but cant finish till a starter kit is releaseed

Denko; while I can't speak for Baskinein as that's up to him, he may well opt to put out a comprehensive starter kit at some point in the future - the idea has been thrown about. The starter kit if it were to materialise would have systems that differ in some ways to Acanthite's as Acanthite's systems have been specifically developed to cater for a certain resolution and also the game design itself.

I would say you're right - this scene WOULD benefit from something like this being released - although I presume we'd be swamped with large amounts of n00b developers too. I suppose that's irrelevent considering that we might actually get SOME quality Pokémon fan games released at long last.

Lannik; I can't give an exact release date because promises like that seem to be rarely kept. However, at the current pace we're working at, we are looking for a release within the year.

Aero X; I'm not really looking for a mapper or an event maker I'm afraid... is there anything you can show?

Denko: I am currently planning on releasing a starter kit, but honestly it is being pushed back more and more as I have several things that I have planned before it. So I would say sometime this fall at best. First I have this project that I'm working on, and then I also have my own project that I'm working on. So until then everyone is just going to have to wait. :P

I do remember that when Blizzy unveiled the first starter kit, more n00bs than ever invaded the scene. It takes more than just the systems to make a good fangame, one must beware the tedious, repetitive, unoriginal games that will crop up! However, some of the more serious developers really would be able to put it to good use

Now, you may be aware I was unhappy with the starters (seeing as I'd designed them originally, I ought not be proud of the fact!). They were ok as Pokémon, but lacked traits of starters, so we've gone back to the drawing board. Our actual designers have produced something truly befitting of the Starter status.

The grass and fire starters are cool, but there's something about the water's eyes that makes him not look very pokemonish.
