Pixel Art WIPs/Small Things Thread

strawyberri definitely a stylized character! as far as cuteness goes i think you might get "cuter" results by making her head smaller and eyes larger and maybe a highlight in the eyes to add some life. i think her hair could use some highlights as well. cheers.

Got a new game on the go, and I stayed up until 6am working on my first sprite; the game's like a 2D Resident Evil. I tried to keep semi-realistic proportions and wanted to stay away from the more chibi style I see in FF, as well as no outlines, any criticism is greatly appreciated!

You're probably gonna want outlines. They look bad until you put the sprite against a background, but the sprite can be hard to see clearly without outlines.

Re-posting these here.

So I created battlers for NO REASON from scratch.

It was fun, and I enjoyed it. :D

They probably aren't that good. :P

I'm not good at animations or GIFs, but ah wells. ;_;

Made some changes to the face; I tried moving them further apart, but then they looked too far apart. I tried multiple different ways to implement the eyes, but none worked. So now I'm going with this new face where it has the shape more so than flat with eyes. What do you think?

Also, since outlines were suggested, I tried seeing what I could do. The first outline is a dark grey (90% I think?) the second uses dark colours... I don't like either. They make her look more bulky and wide, plus I couldn't get outlines on the boots to work, so I left them out.

Been working on this new avatar, not sure of how to fix it, or how to fill the empty void of WHITENESS x.x
Regardless to say, its Rei Ayanami form Neon Genesis Evangelion fame; supposed to be pulling her eyelid down and sticking her tongue out.

This is the most update to-to-date variant (I just feel the original gives a better impression of the vastness of wasted space xD). The issues with this one is clear; though it is supposed to be the warning screen form NGE.

No posts in ages... its a ghost town in 'ere!
This is my latest work;

I've sort of based on it on the style I used here, which is an old, terrible flash game I made xD

A MOTHERFUCKING TORTOISE!

This is something I'm doing for my portfolio website.

Heavily inspired by Mother 3's art style right now.

So the idea is that there will be characters walking around the website and you click on them and they say stuff about my projects, skills, etc.

For that to work, I need open space, however if anyone has any critique or suggestions please give them.

They'll be stuff like a poster of BWRPG on the wall and other items on the ground to click on, the computer at the lower right is supposed to be an old Mac Performa, the first computer I ever hacked, clicking that will give a run-down of my computer usage skills.

You're going to up-scale it on the website, right?

The trim on the side walls bug me. I think it's cause the walls and rug suggest a vanishing point. And since the wall in front is closer it's trim and whatever pattern you put on the wall should be slightly bigger than the back wall. The lines on the side walls shouldn't be parallel but get wider the closer it comes to the viewer.

Yes on the website it is upscaled to fit to the browser window http://www.battleworldrpg.net/felixjones (internet explorer filters the upscale at the moment, a known problem).

I am going for the orthogonal projection so any sense of depth should be removed, I'll see about changing the trim to better reflect that (I'll remove the door way to the left for a start)

@noise... they're pro as fuck, loving how unique they all look... is this actually for a game or just random sprites?

@dcbd, the hair looks great, but something about the face (Aside from it being a complete copy/paste job with a recolour, lol) really bugs me... not sure what it is though... I think it's the shape of the lips and nose to be honest...

not sure what you mean by their shape, they look like regular ol' nose and lips to me. :huh:
noses and lips can come in various shapes and sizes, unless there's something i'm not seeing? :box:

also, it's not a complete copy/paste job, i did change around some features. :biggrin:
but that was the intention, nevertheless.

My name is Link and I'm here to fuck bitches. I'm also a WIP.

Trying to shade the hair and chest were annoying me so much, so I just left them as they are... and I wasn't sure what I was doing with the boots lol. I also don't think I've done too great a job with the creases in the arms, they're supposed to be elbow creases, but meh whatever, I was never really good with shading clothes anyways.

May or may not give him his hat, we'll see...
