Notes On Pulling The Sky Down

Aside from that, I really like the way this looks, haha, it's probably just the cute facesets that have me attracted, honestly. There's not a whole lot to say about the story, but the way you've developed your characters is okay, so I guess the character descriptions can act as placeholders for the story for now...

lol I don't know about that line in the song, but what do you mean it's just the cute facesets, you mean thats all you saw before scrolling down to make a comment, I think Anglachel's story telling is going to be great, based on the extensive and quite wordy posts he seems to make all the time ^_^
 
I didn't say it wasn't going to be good, he didn't provide us with much detail on the story in his original post, though. What I meant by the facesets attracted me, was that despite the somewhat lacking mapping, I'd play solely for those facesets, haha.

In regards to having not seen me, I've been around for awhile, thank you. Haha.
 
lol you probably have been, I just got here some months ago, I went over the first post...and it really doesn't seem to be much of a story there...indeed all I see is Character Bios
 
What's wrong with no backstory? Not every game needs some long ass history of the world. The characters are what you should be focusing on.

What are characters without a story to advance them appropriately? Duh.

You guys go too fast for me.

I think G-Man should actually LOOK at this game before he engages himself in arguments with myself and others.
 
well although that is correct, this is just a project thread, to get people interested in your game, so you just splash on some screens, a couple faces and characters, and a story summary and you're set to go...

As you can see I get a lot of inspiration from music. I did not choose that quote because it 'is a lame top 100 song', I chose it because it fits Diego perfectly. I like the band and, I liked them a long time ago and I didn't even know they were top 100. But all of that is completely irrelevant to the game and perhaps you would appreciate it more if you knew Diego's history. Glad you like the face sets though.

The problem is I can't give you any more information on the story or it will spoil it :/ You haven't actually given me any constructive criticism. How do you believe I could improve my maps, I would like your advice.

The short narrative and the character bios are the story. Ditto what i said above.

Agreed 100%. What is the point of me detailing what happen 1000 years ago when it has no relevance to the story? The game isn't about an evil overlord that will re-awaken after being sealed however many aeons ago, therefore much backstory will be irrelevant or spoilers. This isn't to say there wont be any though.

That seems like an ignorant question. the characters drive the story not the other way around. The only events I can think of in a story that aren't character driven are natural disasters.

Take the classic 'heroes parents get murdered so he avenges them' story. Is this the story that drives the characters to you? Think again. The evil overlord who sends his minions to attack the heros village causes all this. He is a character. His actions cause the events. The heros parents are the catalyst that cause his quest for vengeance. They are characters. And of course there would be no story without the hero, for it is his emotions and actions that drive the story.

That's not what I did. Can't people see that if I give any information on the characters future from the point and time when Skye is found it automatically spoils the story. Clearly I can't say what she did in her past or what is the point in trying to find it out in the game?

I give some information on Bryce and Diego in their biographies. A large majority of Diegos past is a spoiler and will be revealed slowly throughout the game. And, to be honest, Bryce's past isn't that interesting.

It is a story of discovery people. Would you rather me have Bryce as the chosen one from a prophesy who has to collect the 4 elemental crystals to save the world, because then you could see a story?

If I sounded slightly angry or something in my post, I'm not, I'm just trying to get my opinion accross ^^
 
It looks a little plain, maybe some more clouds or even the outline of Skye's face behind the text.
And it's Notes on Pulling The Sky Down. Other than that looks ok
@anglachel:I didn't think you came off as cross at all, I understand about the info secret part, but I still feel like your characters are missing...something
 
I really don't have any advice to you in regards to mapping, I'm not really a good mapper myself. I suggest looking over the tutorials lying around this forum though. I'm pretty sure there's a few.

I can, sort of.

I think that title screenie synchromesh made is perect for this game,simple yet very attractive.This a very interesting game,it made me wonder how the heck that girl got to the sky.
