Notes On Pulling The Sky Down

I think this is very very interesting. Especially the name, I love it!

Also, you give a lot of details about your character. That's another good thing, because your character seems to...you know, have depth and not just flat stereotypical characters :)

I might be able to help you with some arts. Maybe, some cg events or something :D

Screens are up! Check the first post! These are by no means final and my mapping is a little rusty, but I'm getting there. I will go back and improve everything, add more variety, some non-RTP extras, as well as adding a little eye-candy later. I view mapping as very important but I'm just trying to move the story along at the moment. I can't seem to reach the standard I want, but just give me some time. ;) Feedback greatly appreciated.

Xcuma yes having artistic freedom speeds some things up, but as a one man team you have to do everything yourself. I didn't do the whole story in one day though... And G-man if I need something I will head straight for you, ok?

Meticlan, thanks :D I know what doesn't work from a fair bit of past experience with RPG makers, including this one. I haven't heard of Stardust but I'm really glad you like the characters and think my wiring is OK!

I have more information but I haven't posted it yet. I know you love reading but as for most people I'm not sure whether they will bother reading through it all. I wont tell anything about any villains in the story because that is kind of a spoiler. Hopefully a lack of knowledge may make the game more interesting.

As for the title screen I'm a little unsure. Some people have said they like it and would like to see it stay. I have no idea what I would ask for in a request anyway. Concept art is great, and I might be able to get some made. Hell I might be good enough to do my own soon! But it doesn't actually help the game get made does it? :P

Hima, thank you, honestly it means a lot. I actually really hate it when people try to some up their characters in just a sentence or two. It almost always makes them seem shallow and cliche.

What exactly do you mean by cg events? And looking at Adolescence (which looks fantastic by the way), I'm guessing that is your general art style? Thanks for the offer ^^

we are doing the same with the only leaking small bits. I think you have a good plan with that. I hope you do get this done! if things get difficult im sure none of my teams members would mind if you pop along for a bit of help. (I cannot promise you will get it but your welcome to ask)

Aint that right Meticlan

Oh by cg events, I mean like this

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v628/ ... -08-01.png[/img]

For example, the girl in the picture above holding the hero's hand. Instead of having your character talk in a house, you just switch to this picture and show messages.

I think you would call it cutscene, I call it cg events because that's the term we use in Thai community when refer to a cutscene picture happen during an important event. So I kinda use to that term, sorry :)

Adolescence art aren't done by me, though I'm a character concept artist. They were done by Cocon. Although the picture above is a little old (from 2002) that's pretty much my style.

I don't know if you plan to use any picture for cutscene, but if you don't, I might be able to help you with some facesets :)

The screenshots are great! I can't wait to see the battle part. The maps look nice in my opinion. Especially the last three.

Oh Hima I know what CG means, but I never thought you would mean animated CG. (edit: hang on that's what I thought of right away, because thats what I refer to CG as) Wait a second, are you pictures moving? If so do you have a video of what you have done, I would love to see. (oops sorry I think I rushed through your post excitedly and missed you saying the bit about where you switch to a picture), Or comic style? In any case that would be absolutely brilliant! ^^

I was also looking for a little help with the faces. I love your style too :D

Thanks for the feedback on the screenshots. Although I'm a little surpised to see such positive feedback. :)

EDITED

Yay! Updates^^ The screenies have a nice atmosphere, your mapping is improving. Hima's a much better artist than I, they'd prob be more equiped to help you out there.

Oh no, they're not moving. I'm not much of an animator :S The only parts I can get my picture to move are mouths and eyes. What do you mean by comic style? And thanks you for the compliment :D
Since right now I have to work on Adolescence, facesets would be the fastest job that I can finish. :)

::kiearaphoenix::
Thanks you! Your style looks nice too, especially the details of all the equipments your characters wear :) That's the part I need to practice.

Sorry I didn't comment on the screens earlier, but what everyone said about sums it up. They look great!

And, as XcuMa said, if you need some help, just ask!

Hello Anglachel. I'll cut to the cheese: WOW. Great screenies. I'll say again that (at least concerning me) your project seems vry interesting. And once again, the title rocks, no matter what people might say. Eye-capturing.

Just stopped by to say I love the screens. I also adore the name, it reminds me of "Eternal Sunshine of Spotless Mind" (which was apparently shortened from what it use to be). A long name stands out, especially one that begs the question, "Is that a metaphor?".

I haven't read too many of the other comments, but I did catch someone mentioning Stardust, which is a film I'll be rushing to theaters to see. I didn't see any steam-punk elements in your game to compare it to the film in that way, but the girl falling from the sky is reminiscent. It hasn't been done too often though, which is why this film is so promising, and I can't see how anyone could argue with such a unique idea. As someone else pointed out, I too love to hear/play/read stories where one of the main characters is basically a blank slate.

In other words, all rambling aside, I'm looking forward to this. Good luck!

= )

Yay, atmosphere. Thanks Kieara. G-man don't worry about it. I was pretty bad when I first started. You will get there.

HimaI will PM you about it ;)

Rather than singling everyone out I would just like to say thank you for the overwhelmingly positive feedback. I'm surprised to see this compared with 'Stardust' because before now I hadn't heard of it. Isn't that about a star falling to Earth, and it's a person? Not sure. But there are no steam punk elements here.

Yes, the name is a metaphor ^^ Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind was the short version? 0.o

Stay tuned!

I have slow reactions to take the screens at the right time XD
instead showing the hero slay the dragon....my screen would show the hero jumping into the air XD

Here's a quick whip up, although this isn't really concept art, more along the lines of fan art ^^;
