i set my difficulty to peaceful when im building stuff outside and dont want to bothered~

creepers arent that bad i dont get why everyone hates them but oh well
i personally think spiders are the worst thing ever made

but i did find a spider spawner and made and infinite silk machine~
I made a spider drowner but it was a serious pain to build and they just don't spawn quickly enough. I get so many more drops from Stephen's Ultimate Trap.

New Version!

MrMessiah helped notch add lighting like the Ambient Occusion/Better lighting mod! There's also stuff like you can name your worlds, you can have more worlds, beds to jump to day, you can pick a seed for the generator to use. Seems like some good stuff. You can see more on his blog

The game also crashes when you enter the nether, and leaves you at the respawn point with no items when you relog after that. There have also been unconfirmed reports of saves being deleted.

Oh my god... the new saves load soooo much faster!!
Also glitchfinder, I can enter the nether just fine :/ I did experience a few crashes while running around in the normal world though.. (and my minecart seems to have dissappeared..)

It's generally a good idea to, like when installing new mods, update your saves before running one of Notch's patch. Honestly, he cranks them out with way too little bug testing. Then again, we ARE the testers, aren't we? :smug:

Wow, candle. I can only imagine how much time it took you to build that. It's massive projects like these that make me really want to buy a new computer that can actually handle Minecraft. Job well done, and I hope you're keeping a backup of it!

Inspired by candle, I decided to work on a small fort with all of the cobblestone I collected from my mob grinder. It currently has 2 complete stories and a third one is in the works where I'll have bedrooms and a balcony overlooking the ocean that sits behind it. Considering placing a throne room the floor above that, and then I'll cap it off with traversable ramparts surrounding a triangular inner roof. Unfortunately, I just ran out of cobblestone, so I'll have to continue expanding my mob grinder to get some more.

The castle is finished! Gratuitous amounts of screenshots below...

frontview.png

Castle Tuna in all of its magnificence - view from the front.

entryway.png

The entryway to the main hall. Pretty much the same as before, though I included some of the bridge in the shot.

mainhall.png

A better view of the main hall. Behind the stairs is a small staircase leading to the basement.

basement.png

Cleared out a 20x10 area to make a nice expansive smithy area, with plenty of room for more. You can see about half of the ceiling is glass, providing a nice view up through the surrounding moat. This looks awesome both inside and out. The shorter side passage visible on the left provides hidden ladder access to a crawlspace which runs directly underneath the main floor. This links to three secret entryways into the castle accessible through swimming. Perfect for escaping mobs!

The second major floor contains two small bedrooms and a nice view.

throneroom.png

This is the throne room, complete with stylish red royal carpeting.

A view from the other window in the throne room, showing the magnificent expanse of land in front of the castle.

downtheside.png

Down the side of the castle. You can jump off with no worries because all water within two blocks of the castle walls is at least two chunks deep.

stargazing.png

A magnificent view from the very top of the castle through the glass pyramid I constructed as the roof.

rooftop.png

A cool view looking down from the very top of the pyramid.

cloudgazing.png

Cloud gazing through the glass pyramid is equally beautiful.

This took a good bit of work, but it was well worth the effort. It feels good to have finally used up all of the cobblestone and glass I had laying around.

Just a bit of explanation. Yes I used a mod for Flying and to make the minecarts controllable with WASD so that I wouldn't have to spend two hours building a booster.

The highway ends at a special mine which is hard to take pictures of, using a funnel of water as an entrance/exit its almost impervious to enemies.

The red stone torches on the highway are powered by a light switch just under the castle. When you trigger it, they slowly turn on progressively from the castle to the mine at the end. If you get into a minecart and go fast enough, you can actually accelerate past it and watch it.

Total build time was about 8 hours for everything, including mining the minerals.
